One reason I prefer GT to other SW KZbinrs, he presents the information without his personal biases/opinions affecting his content or style of delivery. So many others let their dislike/hatred towards Disney/sequels/etc affect the tone/delivery/perspective/coverage. Alan just presents the info as presented and in a unique semi-in universe manner. Love your work, keep up the excellent work!

Wanna put the fear in the Republic, instead of a buzzdroid, substitute with submunitions fanning out across the hull of a ship as they seek out sensitive systems, then detonating. Tbh while ground warfare would be still useful when you want to secure some info/place before surrendering planet destroyers it, threat of orbital bombardment should be enough to incur surrender. Even in SW assuming that you can't overpower planetary shield defences, you should be able to force surrender by just besieging siad planet. How many of planets in SW are completely self sufficient and have economy independent enough so that it will work just fine without trade with rest of galaxy? I don't think many do.
@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystem4 ай бұрын
That only works if you don't want anything on the planet and don't care about the political ramifications of bombarding or starving out a whole world. Otherwise, the people on the planet can and likely will just call your bluff, and you'll have to engage in planetside combat anyway.
@papapalps24154 ай бұрын
@@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystemYou only need to do it a few times on a few worlds, and broadcast those examples hard enough, to make this moot and void.

@papapalps2415 That still means you have to do it. If you care enough about a world to bother attacking it, you probably want something on it. Even if you don't care about a couple planets or the political blowback of doing it to those, the people on planets you actually want would know you want something there and would still call your bluff.
@simon24934 ай бұрын
@@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystem On the other hand you can assume not many world would be still willing to fight after you've bombarded all of thier military establishments. Is there even any example irl when after defenses have been defeated the city still though until everyone one was dead? On the side point, despite SW portraying ground combat as a rather clean affair, Ukraine and Gaza if nothing else, shows how destructive even modern ground combat is.
@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystem4 ай бұрын
@simon2493 Absolutely on the side point. Problem with your main point is that the main weapons which could be used for orbital bombardment are turbolasers, with the power of nuclear weapons. You're not making precision strikes with that, and civilian casualties are going to be massive most of the time. There's also decent chances that military forces aren't going to be at their installations, so a military insurgency could continue after and do major damage.

check the New Republic vs Imperial Remnant conflict(s) from legends, you basically have the rising New republic and the remnants of the Empire trying to restore it or at least survive in this war of dominion over the galaxy. With that we don't even consider the Yuuzhan Vong invasion and all the other wars of that vast period. And yes, in some parts we can count that as 2.0 Clone Wars
@dumbguy10074 ай бұрын
I at least want to see 2 or more planet wide powers going up against each other. Agreed! I hope the next main series of movies doesnt just continue the skywalker story 10 years in the future, but jumps 100+ years in the future. Get new stories, factions, characters in! Dont be forced into the set timeline, your only gonna make things worse akin to the sequels. Current tales become legends within the universe, and tech doesnt need to progress alot. In star wars tech advances in bursts, there wasnt much advancement over the latter 1000 years of the republic and then the hyperspace wars hit and shit started advancing like crazy up through the clone wars, tapering off with the first order.

So what about the gun that Din Jarin carried, that required what looked to be large ammunition that was carried on his belt and bandolier? this same weapon had an electric discharge as well, that caused the Krayt dragon to spit him out. It did not survive the destruction of the Razor Crest, though... I like Din Jarin's armor. - The problem with learning to ride a machine after learning to ride a living mount is that the machine doesn't have eyes, doesn't have any reason to desire to protect itself and thus not fall down or run into walls, and you can't guide it with anything other than the specific control surfaces.. I learned to ride a horse before I learned to ride a bike, and have been constantly disappointed by bicycles.

Most people today prefer high cut helmets for it being slim and more visibility and breathability. So having that knowledge it makes sense why stormtroopers miss so much
