The sad music playing as Jod sees his flag ship crash and burn only for him to give a small smirk, tells me he’s either proud of the kids or just figured out his next scheme. Either way that subtle acting is what made his character so good.

@rigby_rich3650 it's probably a mix of both, happy for the kids, a realization he doesn't care about the pirate ship or crew, and maybe a plan for his future. The crew was a bit bloodthirsty compared to him. He used violence for money or whatever, the rest of the crew enjoyed it.

Really need modern streamers to understand this. They’re quick to cancel shows for low viewership but don’t give people time to binge it after it’s over. Especially for shows that get good critical reception. Folks hear that a show is good and may decide to watch it next time they have free time. If they quickly announce it’s cancelled, those people might skip it without giving it a chance. 🤞🏽 I don’t blame audiences for waiting til a season is complete before starting it. Lots of these streaming services are putting out slop so it makes sense that audiences are hesitant to hop into something new.

I guess some people got tired by the multitude of serialised content arround star wars (Mandalorian, Andor, Ahsoka, Obi Wan, The Acolyte...) I also guess that marketing Skeleton crew as "the Goonies but in space" did some people look at it as a harmless kid show (not worth the time for grown up viewers) And I think that the canselation of the Acolyte started some viewers to be cautious aubout D+ shows whch might be canseled before having the chance to find their audience (call it the Netflix effect)

After the dismal shows, people aren't all catching them all until word spreads about the good ones. I want to see the viewing numbers over the courses of the show. If they stay aboit even, people who watched enjoyed the ride. If they increase, the show built up viewers as it was well liked, if it declined... people didn't like it. I was touched at how despite Wym having his heart broken by Jod, he still reached out to him before the elevator door closed. Maybe it was because Wym knows what it’s like to be alone, without a mom and a dad whose head is buried in work, he could feel how truly lonely Jod was knowing how he grew up having his only parental figure (coincidentally also a mother-like mentor) savagely taken from him. At the very least Wym had Neel, Jod had no one but dangerous associates who he couldn’t be vulnerable with.

I was really impressed with the finale. The story and tension were very good. It used all of its characters very well. The special effects were terrific. I watched this show with my ten year old, and last night she was completely captivated. It was thrilling, it had high stakes, and was all done at a scale that was appropriate for this show. Two scenes really stand out as examples of how Disney+ Star Wars is improving. Back in season 1 of The Mandalorian, a few X-wings showed up. They looked ok, but not great, and it was a moment where it really felt like television quality, as opposed to cinematic quality. It was a reminder that this was Disney+. Later, the speeders in Boba Fett were slow, clunky, and lacking any real tension. However the X-Wings and the speeder chases in last night's episode both looked fantastic. They've come a long way.

He doesn't shoot up the place in a fit of rage, he doesn't rant do further ranting, he just drops his gun and contemplates to himself while acknowledging he lost in this particular chapter of his life. Perhaps realizing he learned a few lessons along the way even at his age.

If he is indeed a former Jedi Padawan, then he definitely learned a lesson from this whole ordeal that reminds him of something he was simply taught in the past, but never got a chance to experience. Old people have these kinds of experiences all the time, that snap them back to reality, and remind them of a good childhood that somehow got lost. I think that was a turning moment for him, as a character.

As a Gen-X kid who grew up with the OT, this movie brought back all the Star Wars childhood feelings. Damn shame we almost certainly won't get a Season 2, but I'm glad they used this opportunity to tell a complete story with an actual ending.

Your introspective take always is greatly loved and anticipated! Skeleton Crew was a time machine show that reminded me of growing up in the original Star Wars era of the time when my school was practically the center of my attention just like the kids in the show. The ending should set up a season two. Really loved seeing the BWings in action and the XWings as always 😊❤

Skeleton Crew was pretty good. The 4 young actors were really good. #6 & #8 were our favorites. The kids bonding & growth in 6 was really shown in 8.

This was the first Star Wars show that my wife sat and watched with me and finished cause it was good. I think, given the space of time, Skeleton Crew will be regarded as one of the best shows of The Disney Era. I hope Disney looks at this and decided to invest in good writing. Also you're the goat of Star Wars Channels.

The one big plot hole in the finale that kind of stood out for me was that how did the supervisor know about order 66 and jedi being declared traitors to the republic, but didn't know about all the wars and the republic becoming the empire and the credits changing completely and all that other stuff surrounding the jedi thing.

Knowing the Old Republic, they probably never programmed it to account for the fall of the Republic. That and the Empire stopped relaying information to focus on all its crazy stuff.

Such a great show. I agree with you, Alan, it’s right up there with Andor. Both shows do prove a couple of things: 1. There is still good Star Wars to be had for both kids and adults. 2. Good shows are few and far between. I hope Skeleton Crew gets another season. Even though this one series does wrap things up very nicely, it would be nice to see this cast and crew get back together again for another adventure.

Kh'ymm the space owl was one of my favorite "new" Star Wars creations. I am not sure that we have seen a live action species like that before. I also suspect that Wendle had been in a swoop gang as a teen. He knew what he was doing on the bike.

It feels like a family adventure movie from the 80s and 90s, but set in the Star Wars universe. I ended up binging it in a few days leading up to the finale. I wished I watched it when it came out 😢 Watching it in one sitting made it feel like a movie though.

Yeah, having some time to think about the episode you just saw and then thinking about what's coming next is a one-time thing. Like some people will watch the OT back to back now without considering what could happen next or what they want to happen next, while as kids we had 3 years between the movies to think about it and read comic books and stuff.

Alan, Thank you for such a thoughtful historical view of the fandom of Star I know a lot of fans who understood Luke's mindset in the last Jedi. And I also understand why they're so many people who say there's no reason for him to be the way he is the time passed and we don't know what happened. For a lot of us who saw Star Wars as very young adults in '77, real life did just go by and all of a sudden we woke up and found we're disheartened disillusioned disappointed in ourselves but not to have changed the world let alone the galaxy. Every generation entering adulthood is always A New Hope.

That ending was epic! Loved seeing the x-wings and bombers taking out the frigate. And KB and Neel saving the day was awesome as well. It was too bad that we don't get a Jod total redemption, but that smile at the end I think he might have learned something from the kids and that he doesn't have to be so bad. It's unfortunate that the show hasn't had the audience it should, but there is always word of mouth and I think it has got praise from critics across the board for the most part which could save the series. I guess we will find out. Also, does anyone have any ideas about the Jedi that Jod said he learned from?

I am 52 and one of my earliest clear memories that was not directly about family was seeing Star Wars first run in the theaters and how much it drove my imagination at the age of 5. I very much enjoyed all of the Skeleton Crew from start to finish and am hopeful there will be other seasons. I loved the Goonies when it released as new teenager who still had not let childhood wonder go at the age of 13. Disney Star Wars needs more writing and shows like this and for the groundwork this 1st season laid for future reintegration to the New Republic storylines before the events of the sequel trilogy.
