The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

I used a 27/64” drill, m14x1.5 tap, m14 bolt, 5/16” all thread that I ground all the threads off of the firs 1”. I cut the all thread short enough I could thread about half the bolt in the armature. It worked out really easily. I put all this apparatus in my box as a set if I ever need to do this again I will have everything I need. If everyone would keep it universal anyone watching this video will know exactly what to do. Drill,tap, bolt cost me $17.

Awesome. Very helpful. I have this lined up for tomorrow to swap two rotor/stators. I have one donor generator so I get to do this twice. Question; This problem with my bad one is that one of the rings has intermittent connection to the field coil. I can measure resistance between the rings and push on one of the wires and the connection makes and breaks. I don't see anyway to fix the connection at the ring. Have you every repaired one? Thanks for your videos. I have worked on many types of equipment but am new to generators. Your videos really helped me gain some understanding of how they work and how to troubleshoot.

There is a safer way to do this. I wrote a service update for emglo generators back in the day. The best way to remove the armature is to point the threaded end of the armature straight up the fill with oil leaving 1/8 inch of the threads uncovered by the oil.Take the bolt like you used and put teflon tape on it. Screw it in just as you did. oil is not compressible and the hydraulic pressure will pop it off the motor with no possibility of hurting the motor shaft.

I need to do this to 2 Briggs powered generators because both have Plastic camshaft gears that have broken. Briggs and Stratton is criminally stupid

The previous comment is how we did it because ours didn't have threads at the end. We could not find a video for without threads.

Wesley Weisel I have tried unsuccessfully the hammer method. I have one now without threads I need to remove. Usually I tap threads, but that is risky since the tap can break. Also saw that someone put a rod down the rotor shaft and was able to use an air hammer on the rod to break it loose.

@@jcondon1 I realize the comment before isn't what I did. We had a rod in the center, like the video, only it is longer. Have someone place a flat pry bar pushing the armature away from the motor. While pressure is on that, hammer in the rod.

You can, but the rotor required the tapered shaft and the engine to center it properly.
