conclusion of video: Difference in between 95% Stator EF & Interturn fault is that PT connection for 95% stator EF is Phase to Earth while for Interturn it is Phase to Neutral point. setting of Intrturn is less than 95%stator EF In case of external fault there is always high negative sequence current, so Interturn fault protection operated only if zero seq component of voltage coming without high value of I2. high value of I2 act as restraning component for Interturn fault stage-1 while for stage-2 means higher setting if I2 value is used to differentiate between tripping of Interturn fault & 95% stator EF as if high value of zero seq. over voltage came & it crosses threshold value of both interturn & 95% stator Ef then in that case relay will differentiate both by help of I2 value if I2 is present then 95% stator ef will operate otherwise interturn will operate.

If at all system is solidly earthed . We can avoid the muloperation of relay by the intelligent relay settings only. Am I right?

Good explanation but most of the cases this function is not used because of interference with Stator Earth fault protection. It may better if can give general setting calculations by taking the example

I had a doubt in 12min ,as we know that negative sequence current is presnt in case of unbalance in system and zero sequence is present only if the fault involve ground.so how come in case of interturn fault I0(zero sequence current) is present but not I2(negative sequence current)?????
@electrocean66846 жыл бұрын
hitchandan27 In case of inter turn negative sequence is present but the high level of negative sequence will restrain the protection to operate for stage1 i.e. sensitive stage where residual overvoltage sett is lower This is inorder to coordinate the inter turn fault from external fault, zero seq current will only come in ground faults

Sir, Kindly clarify the following:1. How can there be a fault between the conductors of the same phase?2. Further, how are zero sequence voltage produced during in-turn faults (between the conductors of the same phase) when there is no earth involved?
@electrocean66847 жыл бұрын
shyamsagi 1) In one slot both the conductors belong to different phases, though both potential are same but it will not draw heavy current, only local ckt current may be seen 2.) Some also called this category of zero seq as also longitudinal residual voltage, the concept is adding three voltages measured in ref to neutral, 3Vo = Va+Vb+Vc
@shyamsagi7 жыл бұрын
Thank you Sir, for your response. With reference to your reply #1, it says "in one slot, both the conductors belongs to difference phases". However, at time 5.51min, an inter turn fault is shown as a short between the turns of the same phase winding. It seems this section of the video and your response #1 is confusing me. Kindly explain this.Reply #2 is clear. Thank you Sir.
@electrocean66847 жыл бұрын
shyamsagi Yes i hv explained in same phase interturn at 5.51of video The residual voltage or zero seq voltage scheme is valid for same phase turn to turn and also for different phases turn to turn That's the beauty of this scheme, both the conditions are different whereas short between different phases has the highest probability 😊
@shyamsagi7 жыл бұрын
Sir, sorry to re-iterate my question and to bother you again. I understand a short can happen between the conductors of two different phases which have different instantaneous values and are at different phase with respect to each other. But, I don't understand how can there be fault in the conductors of the same phase winding conductors which have the same instantaneous value and are in phase with each other. Request you to kindly explain this.
@electrocean66847 жыл бұрын
shyamsagi The instantaneous emf induced across the conductors of two adjacent slots differ by an vector difference of slot angle😃

Arre bhai you are saying in low set if I2 is not present then it's a. Interturn fault. But in hi set high voltage with I2 means an inter turn fault. Don't you think both statements are contradicting. Please clear in interturn fault I2 will be present or not
@electrocean66846 жыл бұрын
Sens stage(low sett rov) : rov sett is less...negative sequence current along with directional element is used to restrain the protection from maloperation during outzone faults Insens stage( high set rov) : negative seq current & rov are fed to AND logic...to operate the protection...because only rov may come in earth faults So, negative seq current is present in inter turn fault...but if it is present and direction of current indicates outzone fault..then the protection will be restrained
