I only realized the genius idea behind this chip yesterday. And watching the video, the simplicity of managing this chip became clear. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and I did not have to rack my brains in reading every line of the manual.

Thank you very much for watching my video. Isn't that a lot of fun figuring out the unknown? I enjoy when those unknowns become crystal clear. Again thank you for your kind words. I hope that you are having a good day.

This video may be 5 years old, but the information contained in still in use today, at least for me, trying to decode PALs and GALs in old arcade game PCBs. You can no longer buy the parts in some cases and you need to decode the old, and replace with something else, and ensure that it works. Never easy I'm sure, as just learning all this. I'm trying to learn about these PALs and GALs and this was a fascinating overview and really easy to follow. Thanks you. Don't know if you'll see this comment, but a quick question if you don't mind. Do GAL and PAL decoding work in a similar way?

excellent tutorial on the gal's jedec format! - do you by any chance have any information about the jedec format of MACH chips ? it seems remarkably difficult to find

Nice explanation, and thanks for the walk through. Do you happen to have any references for the programming protocol of these PLDs? I would like to goof around with them but I don't use Windows after adopting Linux, and it seems like sources of info about programming these is rare. -Jake
