@@denji5368 Originally the first idea for the first Last of Us was about revenge, Joel killed Tess's brother and Tess would hunt Joel and Kill him and Ellie would hunt Tess for Revenge. The script was scrapped by Naughty Dog and Bruce Straley who saw it as unrealistic as it would look dumb to hunt someone across the country for 1 year. Neil had no creative control over the first but had in the second game and therefore used the same script that was rejected previously and ruined the sequel.

If naughty dog’s intention was to make a depressing realistic game well then they accomplished just that, which was so fucking dumb on their part because games are meant to be fun and not harsher than our current reality. You can have tough moments in games but that has to be balanced with rewarding the player. The last of us had a great idea of this as we got bonding moments between Joel and Ellie while simultaneously seeing horrible reality like suicide, cannibals, rapists, etc.. the last of us 2 went full depressive mode with no payoff and regardless if that was their intention it still was a stupid choice for a video game.

If banter is this good between Joel and Ellie... you can imagine the kind of dad he was to Sarah. The dialogue is laid back and relaxed. You can see the comfort zone he’s in. The man is a natural born father, not just to Sarah and Ellie...but you can see subtle hints in it with Henry and Sam as well.

Ellis Recon Nah, he was gay. Neil (creative director of TLOU) confirmed it long ago, but you don't really need him to confirm it in order to know. There are many signs. That's why Bill was so emotional when he found his "partner" hanged and that's why he said, "Once upon a time I had someone who I cared about. A partner." And the letter that Frank leaves for Bill strongly hints at it, plus if you show Bill the note he gets emotional. So yeah, plenty of signs.

I was hoping the sequel would have interesting character dynamics like with the first game, but Naughty Dog made their Uncharted 4 game/movie, so it made sense why they went the story style route that they did. What sucks so hard is that they treated their fans like a subculture that needed some obvious drawn out boring morality lesson with a completely uncompelling new character, and expected them to pay $60 for it. All the other storytelling mediums already understood that you never do that, so thinking video games is the new evolved medium to practice that with was just myopic. I hope not very many people buy into it.
