I have been digging a lot the past three days in Gen 14, Heb 7, and reading some commentaries especially to have more understanding of the Abram-Melchizedek passage, and also that mysterious night when the animals that were cut in half, and all the details surrounding those accounts. Your teaching here is therefore timely. It’s late and I’m ending my day, but will listen to it tomorrow with open Bible, notebook, heart and mind. Thank you your ministry of faithful expository teaching. Seems it’s getting harder to fin that sort of meaty, systematic, solid Bible teaching and esteem for God’s word. God bless you ; with appreciation and gratitude from Oklahoma!

Did Abram give 10% of everything he had or 10% of the everything that was part of the loot. There is no mention of him tithing before or after this incident. Yet some churches use this to justify the tithing .
@SaintRegime Жыл бұрын
Gonna say it was 10% of the loot, given the context of the phrase in Gen14. Note how the whole discussion is surrounding the spoils of war. I don't think Abram gave up 10% of his lands, and cattle, etc from back home. No mention of it here. (Incoming rant that likely has nothing to do with your walk with our Lord, but, hopefully its helpful for someone) And yes, wayyy too many churches try to put their people under the Law, to justify their business model for the church, instead of focusing on God and solid teaching. When its Concert Sunday and CottonCandy Sermons... what should we be putting into the Church monetarily? I'm of the mind that we should be giving freely from the heart, as the NT writes. But, a good general principle if you're not feeling prompted by God is to give as you feel fed at your church. Shallow as a tide pool teaching? Consider what you're doing there. Now, Maybe its the community, maybe its the outreach, maybe its the counselling... But consider what you're getting from them to grow. If the church can't handle it's money, and you're set/called to be there, then give through service and be gentle/kind in discussions of doctrine (go ahead and be passionate, but kind). Working on this with my church right now.

If Melchizedek was so righteous, why was his kingdom known for such a despicable act? He wanted to make Abram rich, did not Satan offer the world to Jesus? Pastor Paul has said is numerous times quoting scripture also, that even the demons know the word and shudder at the thought. Does Satan also know the word and world and has tried to manipulate many people of the most high God? Jesus relies on his Father and his blessings not the blessings.of the world.

The only complaint I have Pastor is I think you stay on points too long especially the obvious
@shannonjenkins92517 ай бұрын
Perhaps as a teacher, Pastor Paul knows not all chapters that may be obvious to some Bible students is absolutely foreign to new Bible students. Thoroughness is important when one has the responsibility of teaching the Word of God. Be mindful of the well being of your Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus.
