The video was made by the creators of Splitting Image, a British TV show that mocked politicians and celebrities. The first half of the video shows Ronald and Nancy Reagan and has Reagan having a nightmare visions of a lot of different world leaders of the time. The “land of confusion” is the leaders jockeying for power. The second half is a send-up of the big charity events of the mid-80s (Band Aid, USA for Africa, Live Aid), so you have all the celebrities banding together to try to bring love to the world. The bridge in the middle has references to 2001: A Space Odyssey and a lot of pop culture of the time. Viewers at the time would have recognized a lot of the puppets.

You have every reason to be "confused", Kasper. Those cartoon characters are political figures of the day: the mid 80s. It was a clever video at the time and featured puppets from a popular British tv show called "Spitting Image". I wish they'd redo the video with up-to-date cartoon characters, because today's world still has plenty of wacko politicians.🤣 Great reaction btw. 👍
