Where is the "greatest thing I have ever seen" button?

That is almost Jazz Fusion. It just proves how much they were prepared to experiment. They didn't become amazing by accident .

Another band where every member grew up and had success on their own and all look back together smiling. The members that didn’t do so well didn’t try too hard to go there. They were all great in this band, in my opinion. Young and crazy, progressive and experimental. Like all the great supergroups.

Tony Banks sadly had the least amount of success with a solo career....but he still has great music

Ive loved this from the 1st time i heard it as the b- side of "I know what i like ...." in my humble opinion it is the greatest B - side of anyone ever,more than good enough to be on an album,❤

Phil was my favorite drummer of this genre…British progressive rock I guess? He was loose, jazzy, and took risks on that modest/small Gretsch kit, what a wonderful drummer. His pop singing career overshadowed his drumming but he was a very fine drummer, both earlier and later.

Finally, a video where the cameraman captured Steve playing! In most of these videos the camera is on Mike during Steve’s playing.

They just blow me away! They create a landscape of sound and emotion that I get lost in. I actually go into a trance.

What fun seeing Genesis early in their career. Holy moly.

I’ve seen the original clip many times but I love this “visual remix” as it were. It gives the band a more psychedelic feel and less a progressive one. Very well done.

Brilliant stuff. I wish they had left off that 'Epping Forest' drivel from the album for this.

I always thought that song was from the pre-Hackett-Collins era due to its Trespass similarity.

interesting...jazzy Genesis...who knew. Some parts are cool, but this is out of their comfort zone and not tight.

Verdadera pieza sobrenatural.. epica, con ese estilo jazzy, sonido tan mitológico.. Como es posible que muchos ha hoy en dia .. no han dado con este grupo , Verdadera Escuela..

wow, one of my favourite B-sides. Steve still has a lot of Blues in his fingers. He started off with Blues and Tony turning the Hammond on and off at the end to get the tone wheel slowing down, and he didn't over do anything, just once more on Stagnation. Wonderful stuff.

Exactly. All of the other 1st-wave prog groups went mainstream too, it's just that Genesis was more successful than the rest of them (although Yes had some success as a pop act too).

Hackett was never the main writer within the band though. That was Tony Banks, followed by Mike Rutherford.

This point is furthered when Genesis began moving toward more pop sensibilities with Your Own Special Way and Follow You, Follow Me before Phil began to contribute many ideas. Also, just about every Prog band (and former members) moved toward a more pop orientation including Yes/ELP/King Crimson alums in the form of the early 80's Yes and Asia. In other words Tales From Bible Black Hogweeds wasn't going to move much of any units by 1980 for anybody. It wasn't just Genesis.
@patrickcannon8311 Жыл бұрын
One of the greatest things about great bands is their love of the music. "Moving units" is the record companies problem. PS- I and many of my ilk were swarming to prog concerts like Yes, Genesis, Gabriel solo, King Crimson when they reformed, etc. I think we bought plenty of records and tickets.

@andygilbert1877 Жыл бұрын
It was the B side of ‘I Know What I Like’ in the UK (1974) and it’s on Archive 1, but no, not on a studio album surprisingly.
