Great video review Darren and I'm a big Genesis fan and i remember back in early 2006 I went to borders books in Rosemont pa outside Philadelphia pa us 🇺🇲 where i live and bought a CD copy from 1994 Genesis edition of the Lamb lies down on Broadway and I had the other Genesis CDs and I love the album.sadly I lost it when i moved to Florida in early 2010 . Just by luck tonight I found a copy of for 18 .00 us dollars. This box set sounds too expensive for me. I'll just keep the 1994 cd edition.

Thank you! Wrestling here with whether to buy the vinyl... Modern vinyl quality is so variable... And I already have an original German copy of the LP (the best pressing) and the Archive CD set. If only we knew whether this new set is without the much later overdubbed PG vocals etc.

Good evening, this is going to be an important edition. The CDs of the concert have already been released. A significant part of the live recording is on vinyl and it's pretty good. The music will be played at Peter Gabriel's studio, the sound will probably be better. The choice will be between vinyl or CDs. Plus the multi-channel, it's going to be wonderful.

Would rather have had the demo tracks than a previously released live show, and have the two non lamb encores as the download. Happy with my original vinyl and the archive vol 1 to be honest. Also have the SACD Green box so don't feel the need with this one. Would be great for a recent fan who doesn't have this older stuff. Good review Darren, might browse the t-shirts though,😃

I would’ve loved to have seen a Hugh Padgham remix..out there I know but I still love his ability to make things cohesive. Phil’s drums amplified and through a studio stone drum room and feed it back into the mix..really make the album bark on the heavier tracks!! Unfortunately the Genesis studio is no longer and the drum room is responsible for Mama as an example. Dream on Simon. Thanks Darren 🥁

If the guys from Genesis don't have enough saved for retirement, thats kind of on them. I'd like to see lots of youtubes of fans talking about the Lamb, but none of these guys need more money, but they are all pretty proud of it, its something Peter has had an interest in for a while and he doesnt much like talking about Genesis stuff.

@mikearchibald7442 күн бұрын
@@TheDarrenLock I said pretty much the same thing, the only caveat being that he seems mostly focused on The Lamb, not the band. But yeah, hopefully all the attention prog gets online will lighten that up. Part of that is circumstance, its likely galling they got SO popular without him. And also, they keep doing these 'get togethers' and people are increasingly sick of that. I remember watching a press conference about five or six years ago and they walk in and say "wheres the press". Nobody cared. And The Lamb is SO impenetrable that its not something you can sit around easily discussing. At the interviews in 2014 he actually seems fairly comfortable with them.
@benwilliams54926 күн бұрын
They could have also put the 2007 interviews on it. I knew it’d be disappointing so I am not disappointed!
@suicidality27445 күн бұрын

@entwistlefromthewho6 күн бұрын
I don't enjoy The Lamb enough to fork out for this. If they included some instrumental mixes I would have been interested. The 2007 5.1 mix should have been included for people who can't play Atmos and the 2007 interview should be there too, but whatever.
@FormulaProg5 күн бұрын
Yeah that's a shame. My preference is 5.1 because that's what my setup is, it can technically decode Atmos but it's not true atmos.

Even Pink Floyd eventually did that with their massive DSOTM and Animals box sets.

Things have often been haphazard in Genesis World, what with the micro-politics between band members and all. The date of the 50th anniversary of the original release of The Lamb…. will have been known years ago. Oodles of time to get the band agreements and necessary licensing in place before undertaking a remaster and / or remix for a celebratory big box treatment to align with the November 2024 anniversary. Prevarication enters, schedules slip, the clock ticks on and suddenly, the obvious date is missed. Doh. Genesis fans have been served with plenty of Lamb….. studio product over the years. The original vinyl (1974); first release CD (in fat boy box)(1986); Nick Davis’ Definitive Remaster CD (1994) and the Nick Davis / Tony Banks remix / remaster on CD and SACD (2007) which was also in 5.1 surround. Nick Davis received plenty of criticism from some fan factions for his contributions in 1994 and 2007. Despite this criticism, the 2007 Davis / Banks digital version was intended to be the platform for all future releases, which, to date, has included the Miles Showell half-speed remaster on 12” (2016) and the Rhino / Craft cd (2023). So the news that the 2025 box set will centre on a new remaster of the John Burns mix from 1974 using the original tapes was very welcome. While the remaster was done at Abbey Road by Miles Showell, he was assisted by Nick Davis, whose inclusion may not be welcomed by some. The other musical component in the box is a remastered version of the whole performance at The Shrine, Los Angeles in January 1975. Further multi tapes and / or soundboards have been found that include the last number, It, and the two encores. These have also been remastered by Showell and Davis. But no comment as to whether it is the unadulterated performance rather than the controversially tweaked one that was issued in the Archive 1967 -1975 box set in 1998. But what about the full show recorded at Wembley Arena by the BBC on 15th April 1975? Interestingly, I was at that show. There are also some excellent soundboards from shows from other U.K. dates, from across the USA and in Europe. But were they stored at The Farm? The blu-ray contains interesting mixes too. The Atmos must be a new mix but will the new 24/96 stereo be a ‘fold down’ of the Atmos as had been suggested elsewhere?. Or will it be a completely different mix entirely? I say huzzah to it all and have placed my pre-order. Maybe the Analogue Production SACD will be available before the big box comes out. Happy ears to all viewers

New stereo mixes these days are usually a by-product of the Atmos mix. 🫤

Well I enjoyed the 2007 mixes and don't understand the upset caused by Nick Davis, someone who was very much part of the Genesis eco-system at that point. Again, those mixes were overseen by Banks and signed off by every member of the band involved on each album. But people like to complain, eh?

Well the Blu-ray needs to be definitive including all the digital versions of the audio (hi-res stereo, 5.1, Atmos, etc). It would have been nice if there were a new documentary with current interviews on the Blu-ray too. Also with the demos, they should have also been on CD and there’s plenty of material to choose from (one available listing on Genesis Movement sees 46 demo tracks and different mixes). They could have even done in the style of an alternative version of the album. And doing the Shrine again seems daft. Why not put out one of the other live versions of the tour. It seems half-baked and the Atmos mix is the selling point for some reason…

What is it with Genesis they always seem to get things a bit wrong? The only archive release they did that was really good was the 5 cubes with the SACDs, no wonder they go for big bucks on Discogs. But SDE box sets are a chance to throw everything into a package to capture what an artist was doing at the time: the process, the result, the live stuff, etc. The LA gig is great, but 3 demos on a download card? No, gracias. I mean, yeah, I buy it, but a missed opportunity to nail it - though having the original members directly involved in the Atmos mix is cool, and on a disc too, but why couldn't they have added more content on that, the demos at the very least? That said I hope they learn from this and keep these box sets coming, exciting times for sure. Though it would be totally ironic that all the lessons learned to create the perfect Genesis box set ends up being focused on Calling All Stations ;-)
