Hi Scott, try using ground up pastels or pigments. If you stipple (dab) them on with a brush you'll get a similar effect.

I've thinned at the same 1 to 10 ratio but I'm getting paint pattering when I spray close to a panel line. Do you have any advice for preventing the spatter?

Wow that tempest looks incredible!! I’m new to airbrushing, started about 2/3 weeks ago. Can I ask, how come your not wearing a mask as when I asked questions about airbrushing on a few different Facebook pages the first thing people said was always wear your mask before doing anything. Cheers!

I was going to say if theres that little paint in the mix then why bother at all, but now Ive seen you fully explain, why dont we refer to it as the "toning down" stage as that seems to be what it is?

@@genessismodels its the part that confuses me, and probably others, so referring to it as something else actually explains it more, especially for those who have not dared do it before. If you are more advanced and used to going further than toning down the decals, then refer to that as post shading, or touch ups etc etc.

ye I do admit I can go on a bit, I do try to get a balance of getting info across for both beginners and advanced modelers, its sometimes hard to get it right as beginner models would like more of an explanation but advanced modellers might get a bit board, will take this on board and try to get a better balance.
