This one explained how to tell what the middle gene was much better than the previous one. Thanks!

Why do you have to add the double crossing over (in this case 6) when calculating the distance between the genes?

this video just confused me even more with the concept changes from the first. How is A in the middle when a double cross over would have to be c+b and +a+?
@ajay1rana
@ajay1rana 5 жыл бұрын
The distance between b and c is - all SCOs/1000 * 100 = 21.8 cM and not simply 14+9=23

I believe you are right, the DCO's have to be ignored for that bit. do you have an exam today as well?^^

No I was trying to solve a like problem and luckily I was able to solve only with your above two videos explanations but since I was trying solve question with answer given, so I though that I may be right in putting the above formula for farthest alleles....and so I inquired about it. Thank you so much

How is a the middle gene when b also changes and stays the same? I'm sorry but confused at this video. Please can someone answer for me.
@dkumari405
@dkumari405 5 жыл бұрын
Bc a is the only gene that changes while c and b remain the same. the gene that is in the middle--- has to change while the other two genes remain the same

Do you still use the same approach if you only have two data of SCOs(SCO1,SCO2) instead of a pair of SCOs(SCO1~4)?
@mpers
@mpers 5 жыл бұрын
you can probably extrapolate the missing data

I learned that, C.o.c = observed d.c.o./expected d.c.o. ... And I can not relate your said c.o.c formula with mine... Can u please tell me are they both same?
@mattbekhterev1249
@mattbekhterev1249 5 жыл бұрын
We know that "observed" DCO are 4 + 2 = 6 How do you calculate "expected" DCO? For DCO to happen both SCO 1 and SCO 2 must happen (Product Rule). Therefore we know that (46+38+4+2) out of 1000 (0.09) SCO-BA happened x (71+63+4+2) out of 1000 (0.14) SCO-AC happened. So the probability of DCO == (0.09)(0.14) = 0.0126
