As previously mentioned in a comment, I was at this concert. I was 35 at the time & spent most of the gig with tears running down my face. You don't just listen or watch Floyd, you live it & experience it. It's totally overwhelming & it took me 3 days to recover from it. Every time I watch a reaction to this concert it brings all the emotions back & my eyes fill with tears. This is what music is about. No dancers, no gimmicks, no backing tracks, no auto-tune, just a bunch of top musicians in jeans with a stonking good light show doing their thing. Any track from this concert is a winner but may I suggest "The great gig in the sky" as well as previous suggestions. Great reaction guys.

Welcome to Pink Floyd. Without doubt the best live band ever. The whole Pulse concert is well worth seeing. As every one of the 5million people who saw this tour will tell you, the Pulse concerts were probably the best live shows ever performed. You didn't listen to them, you experienced them. Top quality surround sound and lights that cost them $98million to put together, meant an experience never bettered since. I was at that show in Earls Court. Life changing. Though Pink Floyd basically stopped performing after the death of keyboard player Richard Wright in 2008, David Gilmour still performs at age 78, and still aces that Comfortably Numb solo. Drummer Nick Mason still plays with his band at 80. The bassist Guy Pratt (you would be surprised at how many hit records he is on) still performs with both Gilmour and Mason. The lyrics to Comfortably Numb were written by former bassist Roger Waters and comes from the concept album and full length feature film The Wall, which Waters continued to tour with after leaving the band. There are a host of studio albums with Waters for you to check out including Animals, Meddle and The Dark Side of the Moon which spent 20 YEARS in the album charts and which the band played in its entirety on the Pulse tour. Enjoy your voyage of discovery.

Every one of their songs from this concert were amazing. Check out "Run Like Hell", which was the song they ended this concert with. The disco ball opening into a flower that has a gem inside and remains shining for a few seconds when the lights go out is very symbolic. It's a tribute to Syd Barrett, a former member of the band who had to leave the band due to mental-health issues. The song "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" was a tribute-song they wrote about Syd after he left the band, and the shining gem inside the flower at the end of this song in the concert is in honor of their "crazy diamond", Syd.

One thing to know about this band is they started out in the mid-60s and have been going strong ever since I would like to recommend from the same concert a song called. High hopes. It's the perfect song for you guys to watch next because it is iconic and in that performance David plays a solo on a steel guitar also known as a lap guitar and it is amazing and it will definitely advance your curiosity toward this group and the ball that you seen suspended from the ceiling is known as a lotus plant also known as a sign of peace and harmony really looking forward to seeing you guys do a reaction of high hopes next because I can assure you that it will be the perfect next song from this group and it's from the same pulse concert performance. Update. I just listened to the rest of your reaction and definitely high hopes is going to be a strong impact because not only is the music unbelievably amazing but the stage performance is epic. Hopefully see you soon

@steveb318 сағат бұрын
This is the definitive live version of a track that forms part of a prog rock, concept album, and the album hits differently. The album is meant to be listened to in its entirety, but this is arranged to stand alone, and PF grabbed the opportunity to make it something epic for a live audience. There's a lot of PF to explore, but the majority of their albums are complete works. The live performances adapt their tracks into something like this; discrete and individual works. It's not a simple process. Lastly, the guitarist and solo-singer is Dave Gilmour, and the traditional joke goes, "Guitars write to Santa, asking for Dave Gilmour for Christmas." You can hear why.

Welcome to the two newest Floydians! David Gilmour has a genius for instilling emotion with his solos that I have never heard to the same degree from any other guitarist. For another great Gilmour solo, I recommend the studio version of Time, from the Dark Side of the Moon album. Or if you would like to go on another long journey (13:33 minutes) where you just kind of float away on the music, try Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts I-V, which is the opening track from their album Wish You Were Here.

The disco ball opening up was symbolic: a tribute to Syd Barrett -- one of the founding members of Pink Floyd. It opened to reveal a shining diamond inside which is a metaphor for Syd, and is also a reference to the song 'Shine on You Crazy Diamond'. 'Comfortably Numb' is part of the epic rock opera album 'The Wall', which needs to be listened to in its entirely for proper context and meaning. Welcome to Floyd!
@midlifecrisis81633 сағат бұрын
Pink Floyd will change your entire perspective on music. They are their own genre of music. This song was inspired when Roger Waters, the original bass player was extremely sick before a performance. They gave him a shot to get him through which made him feel "Comfortably Numb". He said it was the worst experience ever for him but it got him through. The opening ball depicted a bright shining "diamond" in the center which paid homage to one of the original band members Syd Barrett. Syd fell into a world of LSD and was cut from the band but was huge in creating the sound that makes Pink Floyd who they are. They wrote a song dedicated to him called "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (Shine... You... Diamond... SYD, his first name). David Gilmore, the "guitar God" featured in this solo replaced him. I know you will enjoy Floyd and will become a fan in no time. "Run Like Hell", the finale from the "Pulse" concert is a MUST! Thank you for not interrupting the song! :) You earned a new subscriber. Fun fact: After watching one of their own rehearsals they thought they were boring to watch since no one jumped around on stage or wore crazy outfits. They decided to add light effects so the audience would have something to enjoy watching. The immersive experience that is Pink Floyd was born!
@thepragmatic638321 сағат бұрын
The 1st and 3rd verse with several singers, is meant to be like a voice (that of the doctor) that comes from far away, like "A distant ship's smoke on the horizon". And the 2nd and 4th verse are more like the reaction of a patient who comes back to reality, where he sees "Your (doctor) lips move, but I can't hear what you're saying".

My buddy somehow managed to score 4 tickets in the third row right in front of the stage about 50 feet from David Gilmour in a stadium with over 50,000 people. I always thought of the disco ball opening up as like a lotus flower. The concert I saw of this (in 1994), it was in an outdoor stadium so the the ball came up from the middle of the field and the flower opened up at the top so in this it's more of an upside down lotus flower. Or it's the Mothership or whatever you want it to be

Pink Floyd was great in concert. But don't forget their studio albums. Gems like "Time", "Wish You Were Here," "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," "Us and Them," and for another take on a live concert, "Echoes, Live at Pompeii."
