Yea, and he was so good-looking too! I don't know how Luke can be so hateful and jealous towards Nikolas when he went off and had a kid by Holly when he was married to Laura. Laura never held that against Luke. As IF any of what happened was Nikolas' fault Luke is just a hypocrite.

This time in GH history is hard to watch. Everyday I go back to that moment I was told my son Winston died. The hole does not heal it just becomes bearable. Her portrayal of a mom whose lost her child is true.

I read that GF always brought the emotional depth to scenes and TG lost it more than once during certain scenes. Seems like this is one of those times. If everyone watching this isn't touched deeply, I'd be very surprised.

For all his inadequacies and neurosis it's clear to me, that Stefan really loved Laura. Unlike Luke, he didn't abandon her when she was freaking out, or loving Luke, for having children and for the repeated rejections. Luke should have thanked Stefan for helping Laura survive Stavros, raising her child and returning her to him. Instead, even the THOUGHT of Laura being attracted to someone else was too much for him.

Oddly enough I've been thinking about that recently. As part of the quarantine lockdown, I've been rewatching and watching the Cassadine story. (I stopped around 1998 when GH tried to make a new Patch and Kayla. It was painful to watch. And I was 9/10 during the original story in the 80s.) Anyhow, I've been thinking about the Laura and Stefan relationship and why he would be in love with her - his brother's wife/prisoner - and why she would have willingly slept with a Cassadine. For him, was it about taking something that belonged to his brother? What was in it for her? I ultimately came to the conclusion that for both of them it was mostly about each of them being victims of Cassadine cruelty and finding respite from that in each other. But unlike Laura who had tons of people who loved and cared for her, Stefan had no one to be that when Laura was gone. (He and Alexis/Natasha had a similar relationship when they were children. But she too was gone.) So his affection for her - with her gone- magnified from affection to the obsession that she was the "ideal woman" he could barely live without (Obsession is probably the true Cassadine weakness - they feel a need to possess things). Eventually, he was able to move on after she "died". Probably in part because he got to see/experience her in the real world and not the cocoon of her imprisonment on Cassadine Island where he was her only outlet. She was more her true self and less of a victim/prisoner who needed him. In any event, because he truly does care for her and doesn't see her existence as being tied to his - like Luke - he can be supportive no matter what (Nikolas on the other hand...). Funny thing is, Luke is a lot like Stavros (though perhaps a bit less obsessive and batsh!t crazy) in that he sees Laura as kind of a possession and her having a life outside of him is difficult for him to bear. Gotta remember that he was the first to rape her. And no matter how much they retconned the story and reformed Luke into a mostly good guy (or more accurately anti-hero), an element of the personality type who would do that has remained in Luke the entire time.

I read your comment n you filled in on alot that I did not know. I stopped watch when I went to college in 1986. I guess I totally was wondering why Laura hooked up with Stefan who is a Cassadine. But you explained it well. I feel he really loved her unconditional. On Luke being jealous yes it's understandable. I see ut all the time. Laura will always like her son. He is a part of her. Why didn't she tell Luke about her giving birth where she came back in 1983.

Well Luke, you brought this on yourself. You just couldn't accept that Laura would love Nikolas and it destroyed your marriage. As an original LnL1 fan, I have to say that after he outed Nik's parentage, I had no use for him and felt Laura should kick him to the curb. That was unforgivable and all because he was jealous. He can say whatever he wants, he was jealous.

Me, too! I liked Luke and Laura in their day back in the 80's, but once Nikolas came to town with Stefan everything changed and I liked the relationship Laura and Stefan had until the writers screwed it up of course.

Dimitri Arliss was a great actress and for her or Elizabeth Taylor playing pure evil is something I didn’t see and I am not saying that both Elizabeth Taylor and Dimitri Arliss could not play the evil of Helena but it is in their voices and body language! Constance Towers has a voice that is just perfect for playing pure evil and it takes a voice,body language and greatness to play Helena! Even on her death bed when the character supposedly died on GH she was just as evil as before
