NAP ROOM !!! YES!! My college students could really use these! Heck, it would have helped me out A LOT when I was in college. What a great idea! I need to think of how to put a bug in some one's ear about doing this at my school.

For me, and I'm talking back in the 1960's, "nap room" was the classroom anytime they showed a film about anything. The darkened room and the whirring of the projector was like a potent sleeping drug.
@JS-tx9jy Жыл бұрын
I'm also dreaming about a room where you can nap or meditate. It would definitiv make me stay longer hours at the library. Also I saw a school for young children with a snoezeleroom once. That was just way too cool! And very useful for calming down the kids sometimes. *A snoezeleroom is a fancy room with calming music, soft light and comfortable furniture. They seem to be extremely expensive though.
@trainliker100 Жыл бұрын
@@JS-tx9jy I once heard another method and a different sort of room for calming down children. Since they are usually hopped up on sugar, you put a gob of peanut butter in their mouth and make them swallow it. Then lock them in a broom closet for 30 minutes. Problem solved.

The one at 0:58 (the different lanes for 'walking', 'running', and 'texting' printed onto a stairwell) would've felt weird at every school I've ever gone to. Much like the sides of the road while driving, we always funneled upwards at a steady pace on the right side of the stairwell and let the people descending have the left side of the stairwell, to avoid conflicting traffic as we all rush between classes in the allotted five minutes we're allowed.

So many great ideas my top3 favorites that should be implemented everywhere are 1. The desk for students with ADHD or that students that require a more stimulating environment. 2. The desk with pedals. Those should be anywhere where you have to sit for long periods of time like jobs. 3. The slide that leads to playground. I don't know how safe it is but I would have loved.

My school had the stapler on the wall in many classrooms. They were all broken and/or out of staples. I used to carry around a Leatherman and a box of staples to fix and refill them, but even that wasn't enough. Once it was clear they were a pointless time sink the school removed them all.

My primary school/ middle school had a bank, shop and currency. The currency is called ‘acorns’ and you can buy school equipment, fidget spinners, slime, Lego and a more. To gain acorns, your teacher would have to notice that you were showing one of the schools core values and then you would get 1-3 acorns (since 1 is the least and 3 is the maximum). It’s a really good idea that should be implemented into every school in my opinion, it inspires children to behave and focus
@justmeiniowa2 жыл бұрын
Rewarding children for "good" behavior is NOT a good thing. They should be taught how to behave as a fact of life, not being taught to expect a reward for doing the right thing in life.

I had that sound-level control stop light in my classroom at an inner city ghetto/barrio school. It helped--until one fifth grader got out of his seat, went up to it, and screamed at it. It never worked afterward. I wrote a referral on him (those stop lights weren't cheap--even with a teacher discount at teacher stores. His mother, God bless her, got a call from the principal. She came to my room, talked to me, talked to a couple of the students, and talked to him. She made him pay me back out of his allowance--every penny of the replacement cost. I gave him the one he destroyed. I have great praise and admiration for that mother, who taught her son so much more about personal accountability than any of the pablum-classes the state and federal government requires today's educators to teach.

1:41 I used to go to an ID tech camp during summer vacation, sometimes we would go into a classroom at a college and it would have the same chairs like these, it was fun playing in those chairs :)

My school took 2 and a half years to expand the cafeteria by 15 feet. For a whole year, we got our food from a portable classroom except it was a kitchen and was so small the only cooking appliances they had were ovens.

Some of these are great ideas. Some of these I'm not sure about, like why you need to transport babies around a school or why you need earplugs in a library, or an all gender bathroom, but a lot of those ideas are very cool! :) I love the idea of a napping room. That would wonderful. You know what else would be just lovely, comfortable furniture? What's up with all this furniture that's hard with no backs?

3:08 and the bike desks would have been so useful for me back in elementary school. I technically haven't been adhd diagnosed but I personally believe I am as close as I can get to ADHD. Things like the slides, bike chairs and the seats with bouncy balls would make life s ok much easier for me and for atleasta quarter of my peers too. My school has these special stools that you can like wobble and twist around on but they are only really used for severe ASD students or students that themselves or parents have requested for them to have some kind of special accommodation Reply wish every school would take okn these things because it's the simple t hings like this that facisinate children especially ones who might not like learning so little things like getting to slide down a slide at the end of class m iught make them want to get work done quicker so they can be the first down

6:32 Yes - Lines of latitude and longitude do _run_ in the directions indicated, but they _measure_ the opposite directions! Lines of latitude measure from North to South, while lines of Longitude measure from East to West!

Tried to charge our cell phone outside a grocery store during a weather emergency one time. Several people thought we were homeless and tried to give us money. Nice to have it in the schools.

So jealous of that sunscreen dispenser lol. When I was in the marching band years ago, that two and a half weeks of band camp just before the school year resumed was brutally hot and we were all sunburned...even under our hair! Even the most waterproof sunscreens were sweated off in just a couple of hours. That dispenser would have been a life-saver!
