EXCLUSIVE - An inside man mapped out the perfect scheme for a big-money heist - a quarter million in untraceable cash walked out the door of a New York City racetrack at the end of the busiest betting day of the year. Think it ended well? Let me tell you about it.
The Mob Reporter here with the exclusive inside story of an ingenious heist that proves there is no such thing as a foolproof plan - in the underworld, there’s always some fool ready to ruin any plan. Take this for example.
** PLEASE TAP THE "THANKS" BUTTON OR JOIN ME ON PATREON: / themobreporter
The Gotham Stakes at New York’s Aqueduct Racetrack is the track’s busiest betting day, popular as a prep race for the Kentucky Derby. The track took in $536,567 in betting money. And three bandits made off with more than half of it. Here’s the crew: Lafayette Morrison, known as “Laf” - he’s the inside man - a trusted security guard at the racetrack; Lamel Miller, known as “Mel” - Morrison’s childhood friend was the muscle; and finally, Khaleel Williams, known as “Kha” - the driver, backup bandit and gofer.
They might have got away with it too, if it wasn’t ruined by their own sloppy mistake. Watch to see what happened.

We had a similar plan at Walmart. On Black Friday they do lots of sales and take in big money on that day. Close to a couple hundred thousand is what we heard. Now towards the end of the day our local Walmart would have one lady who went to all the cash registers and pick up all the cash in a shopping cart(20 years ago people used cash a lot more). On Black Friday this becomes a lot of cash. We had heard about 200k. My friend was the security guard so that’s how we got all this info. The lady was instructed not to resist if anyone tried anything and just cooperate. So with no weapons involved you could just run up and grab her cart and run off with the cart. It would have been that easy. We just talked about this for fun, we were honest people not criminals, but it was fun to talk about. It probably would have worked too, Nothing seemed to hard about. It’s kinda similar to this crime though. I would have hoped we could have pulled it off better than these guys and with no gun. Study hard in school kids cuz you don’t want to get desperate and try something like this.

They must intentionally have an area without cameras etc so they can weed out the "inside job" robberies. It's a setup to give them the money without harming anyone and let the casino/ police know the only people who could have pulled this off was people with knowledge from the inside leading to much quicker arrests and recovery of money. Very clever.

Imagine doing a crime and not only screwing it up but not getting rid of the outfit/shoes and buying flashy stuff. They found out a burner phone is only useful if it's not able to be connected to other numbers, so calling your friends and family is stupid. Comment #2- TMR, I live in the boroughs of NYC. The reason why crime has been so rampant the last 3+ years is because of situations like this. Guy goes on a heist, nets 100k for his participation, gets caught, rats out his co-defendants and ends up with time served. Sure he has to pay back the money, but what are we teaching the youth? That you can go out and commit crimes and try to get away with it. But if you happen to get caught, just throw the others under the bus and you’ll walk. And we wonder why crime is out of control. It’s almost worth it to engage and try your luck.

Just leave the city. You don't have to be Kurt Russell to escape from New York. Close to a million people have fled NYC in just two years (and San Francisco is bleeding out at almost twice that rate). The problem is, many of those who leave simply continue voting for the same kinds of people who want to enact the same stupid policies in their new home.

A crime nets you $50-10,000. A good business can net you 10x times that. If you think about crime as your first way of making money, you're a pawn.

The phrase 'no honor among thieves' doesn't *exactly* apply here, because Morrison and Miller showed some honor in not snitching on Williams. Ofc we don't know if they would have snitched if he hadn't paid them off, but they didn't snitch regardless. Williams then turns around and testifies against them, and walks. But as a felon, he will have a hard time working legit, and if he decides to do dirt again no one will want to work with him there either as a publicly known snitch. He gave up his name for those years of freedom.

There always gonna be camera, videos or a witness somewhere, nowadays, so it's better to keep your hands clean all together. Burners are burners and should be treated as such. The cold part is he paid these guys to keep his name out but then turn around and ratted on them, no loyalty.
@redwolfexr
@redwolfexr Жыл бұрын
Its almost certain that the police/DA lied and said they ratted him out anyway. The police don't have to tell the truth until they are under oath in court. That is Interrogation 101 -- make everyone think the other guys already ratted.
