Spent hours researching a 9000watt dual fuel inverter. I bought this one because: 1) 50amp home/RV outlet 2) it's quieter 3) an actual cleanable oil filter 4) easy to clean air filter 5) rear exhaust 6) superior cooling 7) commercial engine with pressurized oil pump and filter 8) it has everything I wanted in an inverter that Duramax, Predator and Northern Tools machine didn't have

Thanks for the review of the GM9000iED. I bought it last year based in part on your review; and just completed my natural gas conversion of it. This is an extremely easy generator to convert to natural gas; no expensive conversion kit required. I was able to have the house circuits powered; then started a 4-ton AC; and finally started the 2nd 4-ton AC while the 1st was still running. I have 2 Hyper Engineering soft starts installed on the compressors. After 5-10 minutes of both AC's running; the generator overloaded and tripped out. The load meter was showing around 6500 watts. I never plan to actually try to use both AC's except for this test. I am happy. I posted a detailed procedure for the conversion at Power Equipment Forum under the Generator forum. A special demand regulator and large hoses are all that is needed for the conversion.

Mr. Gavin, As always, great video. You gave me things to consider I would otherwise would not have considered. (Handle and exhaust placement, 50amp plug, ease of paralleling, among others.) So, I received my GENMAX 9000iED last week and have completed the 5hr break-in and first oil change. I did mine on propane and used two 1800 watt air fryers so the cycling heaters would vary the load hitting almost exactly 50% of load when both would cycle on. There were almost no metal particles in the oil or the oil filter. Very pleased with that. Last thing to do is to change from bondedl to floating neutral using the Javier Rivera video posted on the GENMAX website as a guide. (It sure would be nice if GENMAX included a floating/bonded neutral switch.)

Been watching your channel daily for the last several months while researching the best portable generator for whole house backup, and I really enjoy watching your videos. I ordered me up one of these GenMax 9000ied’s and thought it would be pretty sweet if you could put it up against two Ecoflow Delta Pro’s with the EcoFlow double voltage hub. The peak and running watt spec’s are almost identical and can be matched with the right fuel type. The running watts of the Delta Pro’s could be pitted against the running watts of the GenMax 9000ied when running on propane and the GenMax peak running watts of 9000 when running on gasoline could be pitted against the Delta Pro’s surge watts of 9000!! It’d be like a battle of pump gas vs battery juice. Now that would be a duel.

I'm hooked! I keep watching your videos on inverter generators and have yet to decide on the one for me. I decided to start by doing a crude calculation on my load requirements. I think a 9000 unit will work. I'm not sure if dual fuel is essential. When we have major storms here in Florida (or anywhere) the gas lines are ridiculous and often supplies are exhausted -- so dual fuel may be a blessing in disguise. I had a transfer switch installed on my panel -- so I guess I only need to make a single connection and then start adding load. Thanks, again, for these excellent videos.

I never would've guessed that would be the case. Overall very happy with it and hoping for years of reliable backup. 😁

Do I need a High Altitude Kit for Colorado? I live above 6000 feet. if so where can I get the kit?
@GeneratorReviews Жыл бұрын
Running on gas is the only time you would need to high altitude Kit I would run it on propane if you notice you’re losing power.

Thanks for the demos! The oil filter on the gm9000ied and 14-50 receptacle were key selling points over the others for me. I got mine delivered a few days ago, and noticed that the CO detector keeps shutting down the engine when I have it in a Zombie Box enclosure with fan. The only way to keep it running is to remove the Box and/or keep a large fan blowing onto the Genmax. I've seen a few videos indicating how to disable the CO detector say for such instances, yet before I do any cutting and splicing of wires, would you have any instructions specific to the gm9000ied? I'd like to keep the Zombie Box as it also keeps the elements off the Genmax, but the sensitive the CO detector makes it a useless combination. Best regards!
@GeneratorReviews2 жыл бұрын
If I was going to disable the CO monitor, I wouldn’t cut and splice the wires. Just use jumpers when you unplug the CO detector that way anything happens just connect it back.
@jonathanyee34062 жыл бұрын
@@GeneratorReviews Thanks! Keeping it easily reversible will save a lot of trouble in the future. There are two sleeves of wires going to the CO detector. One sleeve has what looks to be four wires, the other has two. I'm guessing the one with two could be detached from the detector and jumped together, while the four can remain attached to the detector?
@allencar5212 Жыл бұрын
jonathan: The simple solution to the CO problem is attaching a Walker 40002 Universal Universal Exhaust Flex Pipe (Amazon) and running it away from the area (for me this is outside the garage). It adds some back pressure but it also adds some muffling. I also have a battery powered CO alarm in the garage for extra safety. I will provide additional info when I finish the natural gas load test after the generator is fully broken in. On gasoline the GM9000iED had no problem starting a 4-ton 2-stage Goodman A/C with a Hyper Engineering SS1B16-32SN soft start intalled; $249.

@@GeneratorReviews have you been using this unit? My real concerns are the quality of the components. It’s pretty normal components for electricity but other things like aluminum castings: do you think it would be lasting as say the cummins 4500

Hey Gavin. I am seriously looking to purchase this generator. Has anybody done any research on how long this generator will last on 20 pounds of propane? I see that the 6.9 gallon tank will last 10 hours on half load. Sure would love to see some testing done with propane runtime. Love the videos thank you
@GeneratorReviews3 ай бұрын
GM10500iETC, equipped with a 6.9 gallons fuel tank, is capable of running continuously for around 8.1 hours at 50% load on a full gasoline tank (with fuel consumption estimated at around 0.85 gallons per hour). When utilizing propane, it provides around 4 hours (estimation based on a 20 lbs tank - propane consumption around 1.18 GPH) of operation.

Gavin, I'm considering buying the 9000IED, but wondered if you knew the specs of the oil dipstick and oil plug so I can source a magnetic of each. Thx
@GeneratorReviews2 жыл бұрын
You don’t need a magnet it’s an aluminum block and it has an oil filter to catch all the small particles

Hi Gavin,I just purchased and received this awesome generator.have a question(want to add that I'm a newbie to using generators during blackouts)about the ground stud on the front,I'll be using heavy gauge extension cords for certain appliances so with using cords is it best to pound in a ground rod then run wire to ground stud?
@GeneratorReviews Жыл бұрын
Grounding. The generator is the best practice when necessary. If you choose using it for temporary power outage with extension cords, you don’t have to ground it. If you do have access to a ground, I would say do it.

I bought this generator for my three ton american standard HVAC, which also has a Micro Air easy start attached. This gen under propane WILL NOT START my HVAC. The hvac pulls 36 amps, but the generator cannot provide that pulse in time, so the HVAC stops.

so this has a 240/50 amp plug and the duramax only has a 240/30 amp correct? have you evertested the duramax to see if it provides 50 amps? thanks
@GeneratorReviews2 жыл бұрын
The Duromax won’t produce 50 amp at 240 V the circuit will trip at 30 amp. The 50 amp plug really is for when you parallel the generator so you can get 50 amp on each leg without using a parallel kit.
@emmanuelmata2 жыл бұрын

@@GeneratorReviews oooo you ment the 50 amp plug on the genmax is basically when you parallel 2 genmax's to get the full 50amps but by itself just one genmax is not able to produce 50amps its just there so you dont need an adapter?

The Genmax 9000 is pure sine wave it has a 50amp plug, parallels with no parallel kit forced air cooled and forced lubricated with oil filter. The other ones don’t have that.

Thanks for all your awesome videos! Thinking about picking one of these up, but I live in California, so it will have to be the GM9000iEDC. Is there any significant difference between this and the CA carb compliant version? Also, should I just wait and get the 10500T version? I guess they would have to come out with a Cali carb compliant version of that also? I don't know if I really need the extra 1.5k, but depending on price vs time to wait, might be worth it, might not. Thanks in advance!

If you don’t need the extra power, I would just get the 9000 since you live in California you need the carb compliant. You’re probably looking at an extra $500 for the new version
