I have had a CO2 K40 laser with an upgraded 60watt tube for several years now, and with a few minor upgrades, it has served me well. I cover my material with a layer of vinyl decal transfer tape to prevent that soot from getting on finished product. I'd be interested in seeing how the rotary tool works with this unit. I'd also love to see how accurate the camera is in getting a design within a specific area (like a pre-cut metal blank). Keep up the good work.

Seems like some nice equipment. Sure was glad at 6:02 to see you had removed the protective film from the front lower acrylic. 😁

I got the 40 watt. The biggest surprise was how big it is. I have an idea to make a cutout on my workbench and make a system to raise and lower the work surface. Then, I could fit bigger items in it without needing to mess with the legs, and it could still be entirely enclosed.

How do you like the 40W unit? I have been debating over the 20 or the 40.

Seems to work great, it's a learning curve.

This laser was great right out of the box.

During your cut test, the air assist indicator was red. Might be why you are getting some blackened edge shadow look. Not sure. Don't have one. YET. Thanks for the video

First vid in the new shop? Very cool bro. Kudos to you

Thanks! I still have a long way to go before the laser room is setup.

What exhaust system will you be installing?

Great video. What if the laser engraver did not come with a camera, do you think i will still be able to use it?

The only issue I had with mine was the airflow light stayed red, doesn't detect pressure like it should, but there IS airflow, so I'm not too worried about it.
@sethcraftworkshop7 ай бұрын
Mine did that a few times at first. But it has been good for the past 2 to 3 hours of use.

Will your L8 power up without being connected to the computer? I am having trouble getting anything but a power on light. But I am also having trouble getting any connection to my Apple Macbook Pro. My assumption is that the air assist and the laser should work even though my computer is not connected, correct?

Where is the adapter for the tif card?

just spent the better part of the afternoon trying to get this thing to print on the card stock, nothing intuitive about it. Guess I'll just need to practice more

Are you using lightburn?

Can I put gun parts in it ?
@sethcraftworkshop6 ай бұрын
Diode lasers can remove the coating from aluminum. If you want to engrave on other metals you will need to get the IR laser head.

@@sethcraftworkshop ohh ok I just bought a new one on a local bidding site , so all I have to do is change the laser head?
@yancyjarquin46836 ай бұрын
@@sethcraftworkshop also I’m just trying to do nice designs on the guns , not cut holes or anything

Sucks that it does not come with the software to use.

There is free software out there, but most people use Lightburn.
@Warped13698 ай бұрын
LightBurn is only $60, free upgrades for 1 year. It's not a subscription program, works forever as long as you keep your keys. You can, however, renew your license key for $30/year to keep up with current updates. It includes "seats" for up to 3 computers, and you can move seats to different computers if you need to, like when you get a new computer. It is a true bargain in terms of useful and powerful software.

The camera is crap, the calibration is so difficult and innacurate~

I have not tried the camera. That's sad to hear. What calibration is difficult?
