Geno was missing his 3 point weapon in this game. Once Azzi is back at full strength, the outcome of this type of game would have been different. Strong is also still learning along with Jana. Once tournament time comes, this team will be hard to beat. Geno knows this and that’s why he’s talking pretty positive.He knows what he’s got, he just needs more time to coach them.

I can't wait for Paige in the W, Outside of this system!, I hated how Geno used her, failing to utilize her talent and always blaming her-either for being too passive or too aggressive. She was always the one who shouldered the attacks. I feel sorry for her.

@@xxxx1519 I feel sorry for her too. She seems like she is a really nice young lady and I know she's good. The hype and pressure they've put on her is unfair because they've put her to replace Clark and it's not going to happen. Esp not the rookie year. Clark owns that for a good while. And no rivalry because they r friends and have respect for one another. Dont want to see the media try to turn them against each other. Let Paige b Paige with no expectations.

Paige will be an incredible pro as long as she stays healthy. People forget how dominant she was as a Frosh winning player of the year and getting to the Final Four. I'm not sure she has recovered 100% mentally and physically from her knee injuries. She doesn't seem to play with the same intensity and carefree attitude as she did as a Frosh. It could also be her role on the team or what she perceives as her role. Like Michael Jordan at UNC for 3 yrs, Paige is fully constrained within the UConn system. As a pro she should flourish and get back to being top dog.

The only one who can use her talent is Paige, she's out on the floor not Geno. In fact the reasom of the two losses is she is not being Paige.. UConn lost at home and it’s not the refs and it’s not because of Geno. USC was hot in the first half and they held on. UConn missed some shots at the end and had a chance a chance at the foul line to tie. USC also had the size advantage and scored inside.

I do want to see what Geno sees on the court compared to what I see on TV. Why bench KK after she brought them to the game? Imagine how it would look if he kept KK in the 4th quarter longer? And why not play Jana more since Kiki struggled with her than Ice. Why always take someone out or adjust plays every time they cut down a large deficit? Just let it be. Whatever it takes to win. He simply needs a new eye prescription so he finally can see he is an entire reason why they still don’t have a single Top 10 team victory yet. I hope KK knows she is much appreciated for what she has done tonight and I also hope Sarah knows that the last shot was not on her since she received an atrocious pass. Geno should have called timeout. Anyway, the Huskies still put up an amazing effort in the second half. They can learn from that game.

Until Uconn gets a scoring threat in the post these games will come down to three point shooting. Some nights you can't miss, other nights you can't throw it in the ocean. I think that Sarah Strong is a little small to play center, although if Geno went small, he might create some match up problems. It would be far easier if Ice and Jenna improve enough to create some inside opportunities and provide solid post play. It's a long way until March. Let's hope those two can improve enough to make a difference.

@richardbruno6070 Exactly. U would have thought Ice developed more going into this year and Jana was ready to catch wreck but for some reason it's the opposite. Geno needs to draft better, tougher bigs and upgrade his system with more post pkay. I can't ask anymore from Sarah as a rookie. She is small for center, but best option right now unless they get Ice and Jana going . I feel like both of them are built to play in post. They just gotta do it. U see flashes from Jana.

El Elfy position is Center, jer position is met to fill the middle and rebounds, scoring is not a high demand for that psoition....She has played less time than Ice true, but Jana has a higher point and rebound avg than Ice. El Elfy has now played 12 games where Ice is a year and 12 games and has had much more avg time ot play last year than this year so she looks on paper to be better... Do the math. I think usc is longer I know the both lost to nd but end of yr usc will be better then ND harder matchup. I think the nd was a worse loss. But u got fudd not healthy we all know that unfortunately Shes not her own shot creator half injured, but I’m awaiting Aubrey griffin will be a bigger add guarding 1/5 ….I liked kk in there she was a spark I think UConn should stop doing this double or having Paige lock off juju have Chen or vs ND have shade/or kk lock down…when UConn can’t hit threes at a decent clip they won’t win.

Betya all the haters comments have no where near the amount of B/Ball IQ than Geno or CD. I don't agree with a lot of the decisions Geno makes or the reason he does what he does but I know a whole bunch of shite way less than he. Jenna has to start. Brady was as always mediocre and had done nothing to warrant starting. And Morgan deserves a start. As the only freshman to have made a persistent improvement every game and has to be rewarded or she'll only be frustrated with the amount of minutes she plays. Her percentage value is way more than Brady and is just a neck in front of Jenna but Jenna has less minutes than Morgan but she has added value each opportunity she's had compared to Ice Brady. KK is still rushing to try and make an impact since she needed to up the energy but she hasn't learnt to know when to or not to. I would have had Morgan, Cadence and Allie dogging JuJu from getting the ball throughout with KK and Ashlyn shadowing where ever JuJu goes so as soon as she try's to dribble she's gonna have 2 defences forcing her out of her comfort zone. JuJu has one major issue. She can be quick to lose her cool. But great to see how the team fought back and almost snatch it but they will be better for it and will be well and truly hardened and motivated massively. Go Uconn!

Positives? Ash played terrific on both ends. So did KK. Negatives? Overall the offense seemed a half step behind what it should have been. It seemed too predictable and USC was running around screens before they were even set!!! Low post production? Zero. Zero? Zero. How many shots did they put up? I don't have a stat sheet in front of me but it looked like 'NONE' ! Okay, then how many assists did they have? It looked like 'NONE'. Effective screens? 'NONE'? Overall assessment? When UCONN plays against inferior teams they destroy them. When they play elite teams they play 'tight'. One concern which has become very evident and it has literally shocked many fans, Paige needs to have room to do her thing. Of course she's still a brilliant player but when someone is in her face she is struggling shooting and dishing off. In her defense, how can she dish off to a player if all of them are standing still when she goes into the lane? If a player moves to an open space PAIGE WILL FIND THEM. Her assist stats are crazy low! Strengths? Transition game. Question: WHERE IS AUBREY??? Can you see Aubrey guarding these 'elite' guards? Good luck to them! Pick and roll with Paige and Sarah. It teams try to prevent that from being successful by crowding the lane SOMEONE HAS TO BE WIDE OPEN! Azzi. In the few flashes we have seen of her this season her game has looked sensational. Although she wasn't productive tonight she did run the floor at full speed and that was encouraging. Last comment: Geno loves his players to always keep their hands up high on defense including down in the low post area. Excuse me, but once in a while can a 'big' swat away a shot instead of not wanting to get in foul trouble by standing still with their hands up accomplishing nothing?

They both got alot of points etc but it was a team effort from both teams. UCCON isn't that good I've written this before.Why because they are trying to find themselves plus they have alot of inexperienced players. USC was like that last year they had a miracle season but lost to UCONN in the semi finals in April of 2024 So UCONN is that good no point in dwelling on it. Time for the coach retire.Buekers basically has ruined herself because she has marketed herself instead of focusing on herself with education and her game of basketball. It really shows in her play.She already in the WNBA not even ready for it. Oh well Good luck with the next game

UConn went to the line 10 times vs USC went 1 time in the first half alone. How did the refs help USC?? USC is more talented and athletic across the board that's why you all lost. USC plays several freshmen and will be even better come March...

The days of the slow footed player is obsolete. UConn will never win until he realizes this and recruit ATHLETICISM. Most teams today that give them problems are the ones that we don’t recruit
@briankeefe476
@briankeefe476 Ай бұрын
LOL. Like his top teams didn't have very athletic players like Maya Moore, Tina Charles, Swin Cash, Moriah Jefferson, Renee Montgomery, Napheesa Collier, etc. On the current team Sarah Strong, KK Arnold, Azzi Fudd, Aubry Griffen, etc. are quite athletic. Griffen is off the charts athletic and has been hurt a couple times....they miss her. One is never quite as athletic after your first knee injury. Injuries have slowed down a number of Geno's athletic players over the years. Your question should really be keeping athletic players from getting hurt, and teaching them how to play properly. Being athletic by itself doesn't cut it anymore. UConn is not a slow-footed team. They hung with the best of them last year into the Final Four as well as this year so far. The real issues are reliable shooting AND getting a top center to play great. UConn has gotten tall centers the past 6 yrs or so....but they often don't develop until they get into the WNBA. The key is finding a "big" who can dominate as a Frosh/Soph. Lobo, Walters, and Dolson were the only "big" All Americans who learned their crafts really well. UConn has no problems landing top guards and forwards....landing great bigs has always been a challenge. Even Breanna Stewart was not a true "big"....just an amazingly gifted power/shooting forward.

3 UConn players made the all tournament team that year, only one from Tennessee who they beat in the final. Objectively women's college hoops is just deeper than its ever been. No one would be surprised if UCLA, South Carolina, Notre Dame or USC won the national title in March. That's not to speak of Texas, TCU, LSU and Tennessee

Could thing KK needs to play more. She's the only guard that can really break a defender down off the dribble to get a bucket. They get almost zero penetration from the guard position. And two they need an athletic wing next to Strong. Ayanna Patterson can be that but she hasn't played in years. Their lack of athleticism was truly exposed against ND and more teams will attack them this way. All in all Paige and Sarah can and should get them to at least the elite 8. They will have problems against ND, USC, SC and LSU.
