The thing that's impressed me most about Smith this year is his poise and control over the offense. Yes, his arm talent is literally top notch, those throws in the Saints game (Fant and both Lockett TDs) are throws you're only gonna count on Allen and Mahomes to make and Smith is making them on the reg. But watching his pocket presence, ability to change to the correct protections pre-snap, and calm/pocket movement post-snap is incredible. He almost never gets flustered. When he does (like Q3 during this last game in AZ), he doesn't fall into a funk. Waldron worked with him, leaned on the running game, and when it was time for Geno to shine again, he did. Led them to three straight long TDs with that last drive to put the game away (also a coming out party for Fant, that TE under flood concept... AZ could NOT deal with that). Seattle's young talent and scheme have been phenomenal, but it feels like the team is taking on Geno's attitude: calm and confident with, in his words, 'a lot of swag'. His 'I ain't write back' quote is a banger and I think it applies to the Seahawks as a whole. This isn't the LOB but dammit, they DID write back. It's a bigass check they're looking to cash too.

Videos like this are so much better at showing what QB play is really all about. Not the usual talking heads spouting garbage stats like QBR and 300 yd games. Geno's pocket presence and quick progression reads are as good as anyone's. I hope people don't think this a fluke because it's apparent that Geno is the real deal out there. He has used his time on the sideline well and Seattle would be wise to lock him up for the next 3-4 years.

The entire draft class is loaded and made a huge impact that we could see from the start with vets getting cut. It's no surprise that the team logging the most rookie snaps is having success. But for geno he's always had control passing over the middle but suffered from ptsd of interceptions. Locket and dk Metcalf has helped with that. The trust they instilled has brought geno out of that shell.

Because that offense depends on walker to gas the defense so that pa is effective and making teams respect the run.

Geno has a beautiful deep ball, combined with the right coaching staff/system all he has to do is make smart short passes and then connect on a deep when everyone's least expecting it. I've heard Geno's a genius asshole but I think that's who you want and need at QB. Good on Carroll for unlocking these type of players, it shows how good of a coach he is and how bad the Jets organization is.

For the millionth time, this is what happens when you go from a coach like Rex Ryan, to a superbowl winning head coach like Pete Carol, who made a legendary defense from 2nd and 3rd round picks, and formed an ALMOST hall of fame worthy QB from a 3rd round pick, sure Russ does suck now, but he has 9 pro bowls under his belt, and a superbowl (should have two, but we can blame our OC for that) also, we all have to realize, that the ending to superbowl 49 was not Pete's fault, it was our OC who called down and told Pete to throw the ball, or maybe it was russ who audibled so that he could win the MVP, nevertheless, it was not Pete's fault. That man does not get enough credit, and he still doesn't get credit for geno now either

How many failed QB prospects were a victim of poor management, coaching, and offensive coordinators? Geno and Tua were both counted out, but have shown that being a talented QB isn't everything. You NEED the support and tools surrounding them. Just look at Aaron Rodgers and the Packers this year. An all time great talent that is looking below average due to bad play calling, bad o-line, and bad offensive scheme.

I still think there is some serious brain power on the Sea hawk sideline. Sure Geno Smith is doing all he can to succeed but does anyone think that wasn't true with every other team he played for? Wilson's most obvious failures seem to have come from thinking he was smarter or better than everyone else. While Smith works with his coaches and doesn't try to prove anything the wins will keep coming.
