Imo he's playing at a higher level than his MVP season even with opponents defenses adjusted to his play style. He's a freak. Perfect passer rating in the first half of the dolphins game like that's unreal. He's a very safe runner too avoids taking big hits vs someone like Josh Allen that plays like a fullback when he runs. I can see him having good longevity as a QB. He's just been getting better every year. If he keeps up the pace he's at right now I think he will be a unanimous MVP again this year

He's missing his wide open receivers a bit too often, though. He needs to look at other guys on routes besides Andrews. There have been some big play opportunities left out on the field. But it's still early in the season. The Ravens have a scary good offense with playmakers at every position. If they can manage to coordinate and optimize that bounty of assets they will be the scariest offense in the AFC. Now all they need is for the defense to stop being so scary to Ravens fans and be more so for opponents.

Wade Phillips Rams defense in 2019 did many cover 0 blitzes and were cooked by LJ for 5tds. Miami were fortunate that in 2021 Ravens oline was decimated by injuries,, Watkins and Hollywood Brown were fumbling and dropping balls. 2021 miami game was fluke as LJ scorched them this year, Patriots in 2019 also attacked Lamar that way and got dominated. As a Louisville fan, Lamar has always been underrated as a passer. I don't think his passing is the best, but it's pretty good and he's smarter than a lot of people give him credit for. As much as I don't like Bobby Petrino (former UL coach that coached Lamar), I have to thank him for Lamar's success in the NFL. He really did get him ready for the pros. You could really see it by his junior year, even though UL didn't do as good. Lamar's stats were actually better that year than his heisman year. I was really shocked that Baker Mayfield won the heisman that year.

And I'm talking about not people that are just like hate the Ravens or rival with the Ravens I'm talking about people that don't even hate or like the Ravens they hate on Lamar. I just hope he continues to shut them up but they're going to continue to move the goal post with him. Oh he needs to win the playoff game which he already did. "Oh he has to win a Super bowl" When he win the Super bowl its going to be "Oh did he get MVP or he got to win the Super bowl and get MVP they are going to continue to move the goal post for him and I think he understands that he's accepted that recently and that's really the big difference. He don't need to stop being who he is he just has to be smart and instead of getting extra five or six yards on the Run you already got the first down and it's not just a crucial crucial play Get Down protect your body don't take those hits and I've noticed he's been really protected his body lately and still running lights out. Lamar took that step he has always been dynamic , but people followed the media trying to bash his name . And trying to get him out the league. They didn't want Lamars style to take over the league now every team that past in him are trying to get a Jackson. While everyone else was bashing his name throughout the off season. He was in the lab quietly working to up his game . I love Lamars work ethic . Lamar has never had a number one proven wide receiver all his receivers have been rookies and he gets those wins . He also is 85% of the offense for his team . I am 100% all on the Lamar jackson train . Keep your foot on their necks Lamar Jackson.

@@marcomustang876 😂 sure that’s it. That’s why marquise brown wanted out and they can never sign anyone solid and develop their own wide receivers. Only running. You obviously don’t know much about Greg Roman. You legitimately don’t know what you’re talking about here. I’m absolutely right on this. The Ravens O will always be like this Bc of Lamar. I’m not saying it’s not good it’s just a product of their offensive system built around Lamar that they don’t have elite receiving talent veteran or young.

Honestly a lot of the plays broken down here look like scheme or personnel. The first one he threw to his first read, a 7ish yard curl to a receiver when the CB is 10 yards downfield playing off man coverage, that is scheme. A few of the others are just chucking it in Mark Andrews general direction because he bodies everyone. That being said he looks like he is improving as a passer, which is good to see. He is fun to watch even if I can't totally get on board with the hyperbole.

Hello @thinkingfootball can you elaborate on what a rat zone coverage is? 1:46 thanks!
@ThinkingFootball
@ThinkingFootball 2 жыл бұрын
A rat zone is a shallow zone in front of the traditional Hook/Curl middle zones just a couple yards of the line of scrimmage. If you look at depth of recepetion maps youll see an increase in targets to this area exponentially over the last decade - this is largely teams running mesh/drags and arrow/texas routes to RBs. To counter this DCs are putting defenders right where the passes would be completed, negating the run after catch ability or detering the pass entirely. If you want to see a great use of rat zones rewatch the Bengals playoff game against the Chiefs last season - it was instrumental in the win.

The issue I see with this is how repetitive the offense is. Defenses will figure it out. Smart adjustments by Roman and props to Lamar for being a quick learner, but early season offensive success is easy in this league. Late and post season success is a lot harder to achieve, especially as the defenses get better. The Ravens haven't really faced a good defense yet. What should be their first true test (against the Bills) is already not going to be such due to the injuries the Bills currently have. Luckily for them, they only really have Bengals twice and the Bucs once. I'd say the Steelers, but that is 100% dependent on TJ Watt returning and how his body is doing when he does return

Considering he completed a total of 2 passes I believe in the 2nd half against MIA and had less than 50 total yards, I would say they figured him out. He also tanked in the 2nd half against the Bills last week. He is a super talented dude, but folds when the chips are down.
