As someone who is about two months in, the game is much more streamlined than Genshin, so it's pretty doable to catch up on the story. You'll obviously have to start from 0 when it comes to character- and teambuilding but I'd say it's comparatively faster and still worth going into it if you enjoy the game (and I feel like you will).

For anyone curious why near the end it suddenly changes from English to I believe Japanese is due to voice actors (more specifically English vas) going on strike. They are on strike because companies for example Disney won't protect the voice actors from using their voice to train ai. And the voice actors are trying to get said companies to sign a contract that requires the company to 1 ask permission from voice actors if they can use there voice to train ai and/or 2 protect them from ai, meaning no matter what. The company will not use their voice to train ai

to answer your question about if the moves seen in the trailer are also ingame some of it are in game and some are for cinematic and hype purposes. also fun fact jingyuan and jingliu voice actors are also vtubers. cyyu for jingyuan and amalee for jingliu and both are comedic duo whenever they collab

On the Himeko/Pyro Archon thing, it's because they ARE the alternate version of the character. The Hoyoverse games all take place in a multiverse, with character reappearing in new forms across several games. The Raiden Shogun from Genshin for example already existed in Hoyo's other game, Honkai Impact 3rd as "Raiden Mei", and in Honkai Star Rail as "Acheron". Himeko is from Honkai Impact 3rd, and reappeared in Honkai Star Rail, and now showed up as the Pyro Archon in Genshin. They're literal AU versions of the same character. Genshin characters like Venti and Yae Miko also appeared as Wendy and Yae Sakura respectively, along with others like Kirara and Nahida. And there's more Honkai Star Rail characters that come from Honkai Impact 3rd without appearing in Genshin.

@@8-bitSprinkles Yeah, it's a lot of fun. Also for the Sparkle Trailer, it's titled "Monodrama", which is a performance where all of the actors are played by the same person. The extras are maskless, and there's one Sparkle with a White Mask, and one with a Red Mask playing Russian Roulette with each other (Only one bullet went into the chamber). One of the big questions being, which of the two was the real Sparkle in the trailer?

@@8-bitSprinkles Sparkle is a big favorite of mine too, and in game she's a fun support. In combat you gain skill points with normal attacks, which can let you use stronger Skills; Sparkle increases how many max skill points you can have, and is the only person that can grant you extra skill points with her Ultimate (As well as a buff), and her Skill can increase a character's speed effectively, making them move immediately after Sparkle in the turn order most of the time (Or shortly after). With Sparkle you can just spam away powerful skills more easily, as well as make your main damage dealer have more turns.

Something to bear in mind, not sure if anyone has said this yet, but there's a lot more than 32 characters. Just like with Genshin, they didn't give trailers to some of the standard banner 5-star characters, and then after release, they only gave 5-star characters trailers, unlike Genshin who give demos to 4-star characters as well. And they released WAY more 4-star characters than Genshin did in the same amount of time.

let's see... newly-released 4* from 1.1 to 2.5 (genshin 1.0 had 14 4* already) for genshin, we have: diona, xinyan, rosaria, yanfei, sayu, sara, thoma, gorou, yunjin - 9 4* units (hsr 1.0 had 13 4* units alr) for hsr, we have: yukong, luka, lynx, guinaifen, hanya, xueyi, misha, gallagher, march 7th (hunt), moze - 10 4* unit guys.. theres little to no difference 😅

I downloaded it at launch but deleted without ever playing as I thought I wouldn’t like turn based mechanics. Started playing it for the first time last month and I liked the turn based mechanic. Best thing is that there is auto play feature, helps a lot in using all the resin.😂 Also the story is actually good.

I have many details and facts to share about the characters that don't really spoil anything story related. Gepard is singing Serval's song at the end of his trailer because they are siblings. Gepard's weapon is also Serval's guitar case At the start of the trailer, Silver Wolf was playing a character named "Haxxor Bunny", a character from Honkai Impact 3rd. Also the name "Silver Wolf" is actually a code name for the character Bronya Zaychik from Honkai Impact 3rd while she was an assassin / child soldier The candles in Blade's trailer act as lives. At the end only one candle remains, which is Blade's life because he's immortal. Also the flowers in Blade's trailer are Spider Lilies, a symbol of death. Kafka's theme is a remixed version of Vivaldi's "Winter". Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae is supposed to be a cool and special part of the story but it gets spoiled because people watch his character trailer first. Jingliu isn't blind. She just wears a blindfold to help keep her mara under control. (Mara-struck is a term used when a long-life species on the Xianzhou basically loses their mind, don't take this explanation as the entire truth because this explanation is basically a short summary of what being mara-struck means) Argenti isn't in love with himself (in terms of being full of himself). He is apart of the Knights of Beauty, a group that worship the Aeon (basically gods) Idrila. Idrila is the Aeon of Beauty. So he believes nearly everything has beauty. Ruan Mei desires to become an Aeon (but she neglects her creations, which were those cute creatures you saw that jumped into the air and disappeared when a firework exploded) Dr. Ratio desires to get rid of idiocy. His name is Veritas Ratio. He isn't really a doctor in the normal term of medical doctor. As he states in his trailer, he's a scholar and educator. Black Swan's name is Black Swan. None of the character's names are nicknames. Well... except Acheron but saying who Acheron is would be spoiling a special moment in the story. Oh and Aventurine, Topaz, and Jade are technically nicknames. Unless you count Little Gui in character dialogue because Little Gui is Guinaifen. (Guinaifen is the "little juggling girl" mentioned in Huohuo's trailer). And yes, the other character in Black Swan's trailer is Stelle, the female mc you can choose. A monodrama is one person playing every role, which is why you saw so many Sparkles. Acheron was fighting an illusion created by Sparkle, which is why the buildings in the background are weird and there was a glow around Blade, Kafka, and Silver Wolf when they appeared. Aventurine (the rock) is a symbol of luck and Aventurine (the character) is clearly lucky. Also his actual name is Kakavasha. He was also a slave. You can faintly hear the morse code for SOS on Robin's trailer during the final chorus. Also, there are comments at 0:15 of Robin's trailer with references to the player character in Hoyo games: Captain - Honkai Impact 3rd, Traveler - Genshin Impact, and Trailblazer - Honkai Star Rail. There is also a character named "mysterious organism" as one of the comments that is just a complete Robin simp when they say "I can be miss Robin's lapdog". Nobody knows who it is. Oh, and most importantly, Robin has 6 songs. "If I Can Stop One Heart From Breaking", "Sway to My Beat in Cosmos", "Hope Is the Thing With Feathers", "Had I Not Seen The Sun", "If I Can Stop One Heart From Breaking (Encore)", and "Then Wake to Weep" You can see Topaz, Aventurine, and Jade in Boothill's trailer because he is raiding an IPC blimp and Topaz, Aventurine, and Jade are apart of the IPC's Ten Stone Hearts. Also a "boothill" actually is a burial-ground where many people, often men, were killed in gunfights. Boothill is also the only HSR character to curse (but obviously censored versions like "Fudge", "Muddlefudger", "Fudgehead", "Son of a nice lady"). HSR made it a part of Boothill's lore where someone messed with something and he can't curse normally and he does censored cursing. At the end of Firefly's trailer, you see the legs of Caelus, the male mc (referred to as Trailblazer. Stelle, the female mc, is also called Trailblazer btw), for reasons I won't spoil if you decide to play the game. In Yunli's trailer, Sushang (the girl got crushed) had her ghost floating above her after she was crushed and near the end of the trailer, you can see Bailu healing Sushang or at least helping her recover. Also when Yunli got angry and she went glitchy, that's a reference to an anime called "Bocchi the Rock" You can see Jingliu, Blade, Luocha, Sushang, and Guinaifen at the end of Lingsha's trailer. Also those cute little rabbits are incense creatures. Which for some reason in gameplay are like literal nuclear bombs because of the times they do crazy damage. Lingsha isn't an exorcist, she's basically a healer that uses incense to help people. also to correct two mistakes: Seele is pronounced Zee-la. Fu Xuan is her name and it isn't a first and second name. Similar cases are Jing Yuan and Ruan Mei Sorry for this being so long, And I will answer any questions you may have for the characters.

Interestingly enough because it could very well be a coincidence, from Black Swan through Firefly and counting the characters who didn't get trailers (and even counting your own character and everybody who came with you excepting Himeko), not a single playable character you meet in Penacony is there using the name they were born with. Yes, "Black Swan" is an assumed name even though it's honestly the only one she has now. There are entirely different reasons in everybody's cases, too.

Genshin Impac, Honkai Star Rail, and Honkai Impact are in the same universe but different worlds. Honkai Star Rail is about visiting different worlds; maybe some day they'll visit the world of Honkai Impact or even Teyvat. It's pretty hard to explain everything, but in each world there may be "variants" of the same characters, so you'll find characters with the same appearance, names, and even similar stories but from different worlds. It's like a multiverse but in the same universe. It's a bit hard to explain since it is very lore focused, so people usually just call it "multiverse" even though everything is in the same universe. (The youtube channel Homu Labs has lore explanations about the connection of the Honkaiverse for people to react too.)

I swear everyone reacts to HSR trailer’s at the very end of a patch I mean most likely tonight or tomorrow we are getting the new character Rappa’s Trailer lol. 10:15 people say this because all of the HoYo games take place in a multiverse so the games are all technically connected with each other and some characters are literally in every universe like Archeron, Raiden Mei, Raiden Shogun/Ei as an example of this.

You mentioned wanting the trailers to show more of their personalities, but thats more relegated to the animated, and other trailers. These trailers here are moreso to hype up their kit and their involvement in story. Plus helps keep em on the shorter side. To get a bigger picture of the character, youd want to see all the trailers and of course play through the game. Just the game would exclude quite a bit of details that are only mentioned, but not fleshed out(as they assume you would already seen the trailers/extra materials).

@Firefly Trailer: Only read if you want to be spoiled a little. It does not spoil the plot, but the character a bit. Firefly is basically a clone soldier, made to perform exceptionally in combat, but to die early from an illness, that was imbedded in the genes she was cloned from, so she never can become a weapon against the people that made her. That's why she says she is also born a weapon. Because that literally was the reason she came to live: Fight against the enemy, then die.

To explain some things Hoyoverse kinda have their own multiverse. And all games take place in different universes within this multiverse. That mean that some plot points are similar. Some characters are different versions of each other's and identical. And some characters are self-aware about existence of other universes (games) or even straight up proceed to visit them Star rail was hyped up so much because we get to see new iterations of the old characters from their old games like Honkai Impact or Honkai Gakuen Like Himeko, Seele or Bronya/Silver Wolf (those two literally are the same person in other games) Kinda spoiler, kinda not: Welt is character from a different game - Honkai Impact Who was a close friend to Himiko from his world and he teleported to HSR universe to save her variant from great danger.

If it makes you feel any better, I think you can still take your time while you catch up on main story, there shouldn't be any need to rush. And I don't think world quests matter much in hsr either because as someone who's been playing casually since launch, I'm pretty sure I can count the number of world quests I've done lol, my quest log is full of them. The only time you might have to do them is for certain events, and fun thing about hsr is you can do main events from past patches and still get rewards from them. But there's no need to rush with those either. Anyway, I usually watch long videos like this in bits and pieces, I just saw your sparkle reaction and just a quick fact about her which you'll understand better once you start doing the story, she follows the path of elation, which basically involves doing stuff all for the sake of making things interesting. I'm not too deep into her lore but I think she kinda has personality or identity issues. Like perhaps she's acted as so many different people that she loses track of her real self sometimes. It might also have something to do with her mask (people that follow the path of elation are called masked fools btw) because if you pay close attention, it's constantly changing throughout the trailer, maybe showing how many different versions of "sparkle" there are or something like that. Sorry for the rant :')

Honkai welcomes you, new Capitan and Trailblazer I never gonna not laugh on how not detailed HSR March Camera and Smartphones screens (being just flat blue surface) are in the game but oh well.. lol 4:24 Yeah, one of the Main Characters and a Mascot at the same time (like Kiana, Paimon and Anby). Also it was litirally first trailer of the game. 10:16 Its a bit complicated if you dont know how 'the Imaganary Tree' Universe (aka Hoyoverse) works but in short Mavuika is not exactly 'alternative same person' GI Himeko but in theory just like Diluc - descendant of GI's world 'Murata Himeko' (the true parallel counterpart to all Honkai Himeko's) who seems was one of the Pyro Archon's that later died. Mavuika tho, despite it, is seem to be very similar person and existence to Himeko since everything in 'the Imaganary Tree' (even with Teyvat "independent" state) is cyclical (being a Samsara). Hence all the references to actual GI (little that we know from the GI manga) and all Houkai Himeko's (plus Hoyo loves Himeko lol). So yeah, if describing very roughly there is two types of different 'Worlds' (as in Universal scale with Star Clusters - Galaxies and Plantets) and 'Eras' (or Civilizations you can say) characters: 'Alternative exact Same Person' and just very 'Similar People' in existence, origin and fate. For example HSR Himeko are the former to HG, Hi3, etc Houkai Himeko's. Tho she is still kinda a bit different 'character' (like all counterparts are in a way) due to being from different Planet (and "World" or Star Cluster) then Solar System Alterntaive Earth Houkai Himeko's. 10:46 Interestingly and funny tho 'Welt Yang' here is literally the exact same person and character from HI3 Earth, and he is here cus of HSR Himeko tho its a loong story. About the characters, Bailu is really so adorable💙 best healer in the game, some will say no other characters better but it's cuz they don't play her & know nothing about her skills I love Bailu so much & i main her, with my other favorites I'm Kafka main she's my absolute favorite❤️ If you like a character go for them, all characters are capable of winning most battles except for some boss fights they require a certain characters I see you liked Bailu, Kafka, Black Swan, Fu Xuan, & Ling sha Which one do you think you like the most? If you like ling sha her banner will be ending soon, now is the time to pull Next character is Rappa the ninja girl also a galaxy ranger like boothill No need to rush play at your pace, save some tickets then pull when you want Hsr has great story, with so many mysteries everywhere, the more you go through story the crazier it will get🤣 but super fun game👍

I think the reason people don't like Bailu because she couldn't cleanse despite being 5* when 4* could do it. In early game it might doesn't matter, but as story goes there is stronger enemy that could completely hold you take turn, and we all know how important turn in turn-based-game. But it's fair for me, since her healing could go to every team, and make one dead teammates go back alive, for a starter 5* she's good! To also have cleansing she gonna be super OP, I think people wouldn't bother seeking another healer if that's happen, and that's why Hoyo make Bailu like that. It's just my opinion tho:)

I never had any issues with the strongest bosses I know how to play a game, bringing the right characters in certain Boss fights I won all boss battles that got nerfed 3 days or few days later I won them all with Bailu in the team She heals a lot, 80% of my characters HP get healed at once her skill heal heals a lot plus others as well, she revive any character once with e6 she revive 2 times I have E3 Bailu aiming for E6 I love her so much, as for cleansing ailments march 7th is best she shield your character while she cure everything, not even the best shielder right now can't cleanse your character. A character is great for people who know how to play, people who rely completely on characters skill always find out the hard way 😏 I'd recommend Bailu or Houhou to anyone asks me always

As someone who has both a paid and F2P account, I can safely say that, from a Gacha standpoint, HSR earns the very rare “Sensible Gacha” title from me. (Basically, a “Sensible Gacha” is one where removing the Gacha system would actually make the experience worse, as due to the games turn-based combat, and its abundance of very good free to earn units and equipment, all the Gacha in HSR does is add replayability and variety to the experience. You basically never reach a point where Gacha is “Mandatory” for progress.) You essentially only ever need to pull on the Gacha hardcore for the hardest of hard content (aka the stuff it would make sense you would need to get more specialized teams for). Everything else is largely completable to a degree that earns consistent rewards with the units the game gives you for free. HSR is, unironically, one of the better gacha’s a player can pick to play as a result. It even rewards you for both keeping energy full after doing some relic/material farming (as there’s reserve energy that charges when energy is full, so no wasted energy at full energy) and for taking breaks from the game (as said reserve energy ensures you don’t miss out on energy for farming if you have to take a break or can’t access the game for a while).

whoaa, that's really nice, others have said too that the units I will receive in the game are enough to carry me through the story. I will definitely get hooked on some characters and want to pull for them LOL, but knowing that pulling for characters isn't necessary is great! Hi sprinkles👋i didn't know you don't play it, that's a surprise i thought if play zzz you play hsr Let me explain to you then, day 1 player here & still playing This is hoyoverse favorite child game got best devs, has best rewards, and this is hoyo' best gacha game no question about it As a f2p its best gacha better than genshin & zzz has the best rates, i get most characters early or close to high pity sometimes Weapon gacha you get guarantee if you lose your 50 once, has a higher chances to get weapon (called light cone in game) at low pity or early I got most of my light cones(weapons) of limited banner early winning most of my 50s The only game i go for weapons most of the time 👍 but that's just my luck & experience with it, still many win their 50s get what they want more than zzz by a lot Game combat is turn based your characters take turns to attacks when done enemies turn to attack back In this combat you can easily think of what to do next there's no rush on ur turn Grinding for material is easier, you won't run out of resources fast, level up is way easier than other games Game has Relics (artifacts) the grinding for them is the same as other games, it's hard to get the stats you want But Star Rail has features that let you dispose of unwanted relics to get materials those materials can be used to get relics you want you can get some good stats with that The characters are best of best, you get to see new characters in main story and they get their own story the companion quest That way you know more about them, and if you get the character from gacha they will text you messages for 3 or more days they will also visit you on astral express train I have no complaints about this game best hoyo game If you have any questions ask me, I have all content cleared all i do now is login for dailies and build characters, all my main favorite characters are built well, waiting for new update to drop I also play genshin, and wuwa day 1 player too and i'm trying zzz now been playing zzz for 4 days now not a fan but i give it a chance the gacha is not good so far

@@8-bitSprinkles sure sure ❤️ I know a lot about this game, I can recommend you the best team to clear most of battles in the most simple way to understand no complications or stress over things When you start the game, you already given strong 4 stars that are absolutely helpful, they will get around till you get more 5 stars You get March 7th literally your girlfriend in game 🩷🤣 you get serval 💜 she's my absolute favorite 4 star she's a rock star too strong to be 4 star For healers I recommend Bailu or Natasha at first, Natasha 4 star healer easy to get, or Bailu from standard banner if you get her you're super lucky other characters are in standard too You get a standard 5 star of your choice at 300 pulls count March 7th, Serval, Bailu or Natasha & MC, this is the easiest most f2p team if built you can progress through story easily MC & Serval will be your dps, March for shield & a healer to keep you going through story bosses I recommend building the team as much as you can Of course you can include characters you love just make sure to build them, you will run out of stamina needed to farm for characters so it's simple use all stamina to build your character everyday it take only few days to fully max one character, relics (artifacts) not included cuz they take more I advise you to level characters first, then go for relics later since it takes time & stamina too If you play genshin you won't have any problem with Star Rail it's not hard, except for end content It was Kafka that got me in the game ❤️💜I started playing day 1 for her I love Kafka so much 😌

Another thing that people in the comments didn't mention about HSR is how they have more moraly grey or straight up evil chars compared to other games, even the playable chars too (that's why you can see some of the trailers for playable chars are really serious). So you know the story is heavy. BUT what makes me love the story is also the comedy. They know when to be serious and when to be funny. The comedy in this game is just chef kiss.

What I love about this compared to Genshin and ZZZ tho is that they care about character developments. After we finished a certain story in an area for example, at some point we'll gonna go back to the old area and meet the old characters and continue their story. Some 4 stars characters for example become 5 stars through this style of storytelling.

So, Star Rail is generally regarded as having the best storyline/combat animations (due to being turn based, that lets them do some wild things like himeko's orbital laser or Acheron's... everything) but Zenless is regarded as having the best combat gameplay/character movement/facial animations. HI3 had a fantastic story, but its gotten rather dated in all other respects. Genshin had the best combat for a long time, but mow that Zenless is getting some character diversity its overtaking genshin- although it could cook a little more admittedly
