i'm so happy we got to see hu tao on a more personal lens. She always felt like she had to put up an act but these small intimate moments she shared with the traveler really shows how much how close they are and it's frighteningly wholesome. She also looked so pretty everytime she genuinely smiles and it's a side of her that we as hu tao enjoyers feel blessed to witness - happy lantern rite everyone!

No joke.. almost cried watching this. I mean near the end of it all the Fetor was infecting her, killing her inside and out.. you could tell by the inky black veins on her face, those marking on her clothes/body, and she just had this look of total acceptance of it all, which I fully understand knowing what her stand on death is, but it just looked so heartbreaking to watch, plus she’s one of my favorite characters, as a playable and in story.. thank god she’s still alive, I figured she probably wouldn’t be killed off, cause then that kinda affects the fact that she’s literally playable, but anyways I’m happy her time didn’t come :’)!

Granted, I never hated Hu Tao, but I get what you mean. She did seem rather quirky, maybe a bit TOO quirky. But now we know that it's an act put on by her because she harbors a deep-seated pain. Mostly silent. Very few characters actually had their voices back. Paimon had hers, obviously, given that Corina Boettger no longer records with Formosa Interactive and instead works with Amber Lee Connors' studio. But Xiangling had hers back, Lan Yan also had hers, Baizhu had his, Chef Mao had his, the Ferrylady outside Wangsheng Funeral Parlor had hers, and Ying'er also had hers. But everyone else was silent. I will admit, it was kind of disappointing, especially this was the first time we saw Hu Tao so serious. It would be nice if we could get reruns of some of these events in the future, with the missing voiceover lines restored, either once the strike has been settled, or all of the remaining voice actors are transferred to a different studio (rumor has it that it's also Amber Lee Connors' studio).

To my understanding, wuwang hill was occupied my death qi from the beginning. That's why a lot of ghost story happen there. But now the death qi become stronger, expand to other area too causing senior ill. So they need to burn the death qi but to do this, they need to do this ceremonies at 8 places. But pic in wuwang hill will be sacrificed which is hutao. Speaking of death qi, I thinking of renova the eye who kill capitano or abyss behind this.

I’m probably gonna get a lot of hate for this comment, but Hu Tao’s “death” (and this entire lantern rite) barely had an effect on me. And quite frankly, i think it’s because they didn’t allow her to die. The entire main stress of this climax was the potential death, and yet hoyoverse has shown multiple times that they are unwilling to let important (playable ) characters die under any circumstance. I went into this knowing she would live, and that immediately ruined the immersion for me. The cutscenes were gorgeous, and Yun Jin’s song almost brought me to tears, but all of Hu Tao’s danger scenes felt pointless because it was obvious she was going to be fine. The Rite has been fun, but its main story definitely just didn’t hit me this year, which is upsetting.

I was doing the same with Zhongli, but that's because I can do a good impression of Keith Silverstein's roles. No joke, people say my impression of Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter is spot on. Even Zach Aguilar (the voice of Aether) was impressed by it when I met him at FanExpo Chicago last year. Hopefully I'll be able to meet Keith Silverstein himself in Milwaukee this March when he attends a convention there and show him my impression of Hisoka (and maybe even Nazeem from Skyrim).
