What these stories don't cover is that the issue between Watatsumi Island and Shogun has been going on from even before the nation closed. They believe in different gods and so even their people are not really friends with each other. But after Kokomi became the leader their nation moved towards the peace. Also the story about their god and Shogun fight is not explained in the detail here but in the game. But it will be mentioned in Sumeru region.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Also worth mentioning the reason one of the reasons why Watatsumi people kind of hate the Shogun was because she killed their God (Serpent) you can easily find its skeleton at the island

It’s explained in more detail in records kept in Enkanomiya, but I don’t think it’s really mentioned in any main quest. I don’t remember it coming up in Sumeru at all.

35:23 The book Kokomi gets all flustered over appears to be some sort of personal diary, where she keeps a log of the changes in her 'energy'. All the entries are negative except for two: the day the news of the peace talks arrives (Energy +2) and the day the Traveller arrives which is recorded as follows: "Swordfish II's captain came back today. Energy +4. We tacitly agreed not to speak of Teppei, and no one spoke of those who sacrificed their lives during the war... This peace was far too hard-fought."

It’s been mentioned by some already, but Watatsumi had that snake god protecting them. He had run away from the Archon War. It was a similar case to the Salt Goddess in Zhongli’s story quest. But in the end the Snake god was backed into a corner and invaded the neighboring islands and killed one of Ei’s friends. So she struck him down with a huge slash that created a canyon slicing the island apart. It’s also not explained well, but the Fatui were creating their Delusions using the marrow crystals that form on the snake god skeleton. It’s a similar theme to Liyue’s problems, Xiao is still cleaning up monsters and evil spirits formed from all the dead gods in Liyue.

@arch391 did good bringing this up as I forgot to in the Patreon. Back then in a cutscene showing Raiden's backstory, you saw a glimpse of her fighting some monsters and most notably a giant snake. That giant snake is actually the Deity Kokomi and her people worshipped. It is HEAVILY involved in the making of their land and culture. So the fact that the Raiden Shogun had killed Watatsumi's own deity, would easily be something that could not be forgotten. So the Vision Hunt Decree for Watatsumi Island warriors, wasn't just about stopping Oppresive Stasis from the Shogun. They had a much bigger grudge in their backlogs.

She never actually explains how she calculates energy but there is a diary that says a windy day is enough for her to subtract one energy. Most people chalk Kokomi up to be pretty neurodivergent. 😅

I like that they realize they still need a defense force but want to downsize the military since most of their soldiers want to go home. So they only want the soldiers that really really want to be enlisted. And they have to be skilled enough to take on multiple trained enemies. Meanwhile this makes being a soldier a privilege not a requirement, this will channel some of the more agitated soldiers and keep them in line since they might lose the honor of being a special soldier if they misbehave.

There is a Chinese myth about a dragon gate at the top of a waterfall. A carp/koi after many years of trying was able to jump up the waterfall and through the gate, and it became a dragon. Kokomi is fish themed and looks pretty but is secretly a dragon (general warrior). This myth is also the source of the Pokémon Magikarp and Gyrados.

The archon quest really needed 5 acts instead of 3. We could have used a whole chapter about the war and Kokomi. After Inazuma the writers moved to 5.

This is a very political and talk heavy quest (and some pissible Neurodivergent Kokomi sprinked in there depending on how you interpret her behaviour) so it can get quite boring for some, still i personally enjoyed it, not much happened but still it was nice to see some progress on the situation between Watatsumi and the rest of Inazuma in this quest. And also, Inazuma as a whole was a very politics and yapping focused region so i guess this fits lol

Day 8 of asking Ken and Bethany to react to the indie, fanmade animated shorts for Donkey Kong Country called "Pirate's Scorn" and "Tip the Scale" by Alex Henderson Animation. These musicals are genuinely some of the best fanmade content that I've seen on KZbin, with full voice acting mostly by the former cast of an old Donkey Kong Country cartoon, and one could say animation amazing enough to rival studio-production. So many people poured their heart and soul into these animated shorts, and you can definitely feel the love and passion in this project, even if one is not entirely well-versed on the games. I think it would be right up your alley.
