This is why it bothers me that she (and many other women) recommend trying to go without foundation or makeup because it worked for them. Everyone’s experience is different, and what helped them may not help you. I wear foundation because I just love to wear makeup. I view it as a creative outlet and an accessory to my outfit. I also take care of my skin the best I can. I say just do what you want and what you feel is best for your skin!
@beckothy5 жыл бұрын
Hyun Ju I never said she was saying that wearing foundation is the only cause of clogged pores/acne. I was replying to OP because she said she doesn’t wear foundation but she still has trouble with her skin. I just wish Liah (and many other proponents of not wearing foundation or makeup) would put a disclaimer that it worked for them but it still may not work for you. It’s just an option. People are not this dumb! I’m simply getting tired of other women pushing “stop wearing makeup! Your life and skin will be better!” Because that’s not the case for everyone.

Couldn’t agree more on foundation free part. Last year I decided to stop using full coverage foundation and that’s how I finally cleared my acne & dark hyperpigmentation (struggled with acne for at least 3 years). This small elimination isn’t only beneficial to skin, it also helped me to understand what my skin truly needs, now I feel more comfortable in my own skin even without spot concealer. To people who wanna start their foundation free journey, i can’t deny it will be very hard in the beginning but slowly you will get used to it, and it will worth it ❤️

CharmMae Eschenweck I stopped using Niamicide after 6 days. My morning routine consisted of washing my face only with water and using my moisturizer and SPF. For night routine, I used a mild cleanser and the Rosehip Oil. I would say it took my skin about 2 days to recover. I was really scared of using oil on my face because I have oily acne prone skin, but I am so glad I did. The sebum production is very well balanced. I finally went powder-free!

Estha Lensherr start with reducing and not completely stopping the consumption. It won’t work anyway. And while you reduce, choose fruits or anything that tastes sweet like even dried fruits, and that way you can satiate your sweet cravings. And then everyday, try to remove a part of those unwanted sugars from your diet. At your own pace, but try to fool your body by being a lil sneaky ;). And then you can maybe eliminate the sweet. Although fruits, dried or fresh, are good. But try to have anything once a day. This method should work. Not forcing your body is a good option.

And yes "it takes a lot of bravery & courage", I still remember the eyes of people who stares at me when I go to crowded places not wearing any makeup and I wouldn't hide that it still bothers me however, after 1year and 8months of doing your skincare diet I can definitely say that it improves so much from all the acne, acne scars, pores and black & whiteheads. It will never be an easy journey, it will take a lot of dedication and patience. I always remind myself that you were able to do it so I could too. Just a warning: I have oily-dehydrated acne prone sensitive skin, I used the Ordinary Niacinamide 10% and zinc 1% for four months and at first the redness went down, but after a few weeks it absolutely made my skin much worse. I had new breakouts each time I used it (every day). And it eventually didn’t do anything for my hyperpigmentation. It was a huge bummer because I had read reviews and it seemed to work well for others but definitely not for me. I know that this was breaking me out too because I stopped using it a week ago and my skin looks much better. I did more research and it seems like others are having this same issue. I recommend using a lower percentage of niacinamide, because that seemed to work much better for my skin in the past.

I've been using The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% for 3 months. I combined it with a ph-5.5 toner and sls-free foam. And I also got rid of sugar and much milk. I'm happy with how my skin looks like now, I have acne very seldom and my skin is less oily. Before, I used to visit many cosmetologists for 3 years but I had short-term results and spent much money. From my own experience, I understood that only the systematic and proper home skin-care routine + healthy life style will solve my problem.

i also noticed the difference when i stopped wearing foundation as a habit! now i only wear it for special occasions...maybe once a month. now my skin has also regulated its sebum production better, and i just blot with some tissue once a day, or just embrace the shine :) to me even when i had acne or other troubles on my skin and i covered it with foundation, those bumps and troubles are still visible even if the color is evened. that's why the transition was pretty easy for me. i just recognized that my acne and pores still show even when i wear foundation and concealer, so i might as well just wear some sunscreen and stop piling a thick layer to congest my skin. instead i focus my makeup routines on my eyes, brows, and lips!

What helped me is to alternate the use of salycilic acid cleanser , at night, and a normal one in the morning , or none, if skin is not super oily or just zone cleansing (I use the cleanser onlywherw is oily). What I've learned is that u have to see how ur skin feels in different seasons and also times of the day. But, rule number 1, always be gentle, no matter If u are super oily (like me) or super dry. Moreover, even if u wash it away, I don't think is good using salicylic acid in the mornig:u go outside, ur skin is more sensible and has not the right protection against pollution and it can be counterproductive. As she says, the more u exfoliate, the worse the situation becomes, so I don't overdo. Also, when I use retinol I don't use a salicylic acid cleanser (I alternate) and it helped soooooo much with clogged pores and oily skin.😊🎉 And last, but not least, I'm minimal with my skincare u.u

Hello Liah, I used to use the Niacinamide +zinc serum from TO and it helped my skin sooo much, it reduced redness, shrunk my pores and removed blemishes and textured skin. I used it for about 8 months and I was so pleased with the results.. Now when I I use the same serum it dries my skin and irritates my skin a lot, I don't know why this happens...Do you have a solution? I even tried other niacinamide products and it still dried my skin and irritated it:( Please help me.

I know how you feel girl! From what I remember, cooling your neck area is always a good idea so I usually have those blue fever stickers with me. So whenever I find the chance, I would put it on the back of my neck so my body and skin could cool down a bit hehe

I never used foundation or any skin makeup until 22 years old. And before that (and now) my pores are so clogged with sebum around the T zone and forhead where I have to extract with a metal loop extractor every 2 days. And its a lot of sebum.

Hi Liah, can I ask a question? About the mugwort mask that you are using, I think that I could not afford it at all so I think about another option that I will smash the fresh mugwort and apply it on my skin. Is it still effective on skin? Or could you show me the differences between those two masks? Ah and is there any notice if I use the fresh one? Tks Liah, hope you answer it!!

I always appreciate Liah sharing so much helpful info. And I really want to love krave beauty products too, to the point when the cleanser is breaking me out I still continue (thinking is probably just purging because is appearing at the areas I usually would get 1 or 2 pimples). However, new pimples just keep popping. So I tried GBR (just cleanser, BHA or hydrating toner and GBR). Not sure if GBR is helping because the pimples just come, go and come again. I’m almost done with the cleanser and GBR but I could no longer wait for it to finish because seeing the numerous PIE and PIH on my cheeks and chin and this uncontrollable state of my skin is very-very disheartening. I started the products with stable skin condition with the goal to improve my skin barrier but my skin just got worse than before. I went back to cosrx and within days I can see my skin under control now but god knows how long those PIE PIH will be gone. Apologies for the long post. It is because I can hardly find any negative reviews of krave products. I am Liah’s subscriber and still will be even though I am very disappointed with the products. I don’t think they are suitable for oily acne prone skin like mine. And if u live in humid country like me, really.. think twice. However, I got to admit the cleanser feels the most gentle I have ever tried. I believe it works better on dry skin because I use GBR on my dry itchy feet (sorry Liah, I just want to finish it before I throw), and it actually improves the dry skin on my feet.

thanks for the post! i've been wanting to try her products for a while now but wasn't sure if they would be right for my skin. i also live in a humid and hot environment and my skin is really oily, so the cleanser might not work for me. i think it also might be because you introduced new products with new formulations to ur skin, that's why ur skin started to purge. good thing you went back to ur original products tho
