I have loved and appreciated Gentle Giant for 50 years now, my first contact was a radio recording of "On Reflection" from "Freehand" that immediately enchanted me! Little by little I bought all the records, including “Missing Piece” and “Civilian” which I also really appreciate! 😉 In general, Gentle Giant is the band with the most good LPs, until perhaps "Giant for a day", all of the records are masterpieces! Gentle Giant is the best band that ever lived! There was and will never be such musicality and joy of playing again! Each individual musician essentially replaces an entire band on their own! Ray Shulman (bass violin, trumpet, etc.) and Kerry Minear (keyboards, cello, vibraphone, etc.) particularly stand out! But the other members also show what they can do! My special tip: Funny Ways! and not to forget the great live album "Playing the Fool"! 😇

Gentle Giant.. 1971 No real idea what I was viewing at a local venue. At 71 years of age, they are still etched in my soul. God Bless this band and it's members and Mr. Steve Wilson for carrying the torch and continuing the legend of this amazing group of musicians. Hence, the emphasis on the word musicians.

@@KlausSgroi The original release on LP had a clear but almost bass - free mix. My friends had a most excellent hi fi and no matter what they did with EQ they were unable to coax any significant bass guitar sound out of it. The subsequent CDs were not much better. I am hoping Steven Wilson has beefed it up on this version..

I am ashamed to admit Gentle Giant passed me by 'back in the day' . A dull day and aimlessly searching KZbin - searched Gentle Giant and picked this at random, I was blown away. I recorded a cassette tape 45plus years ago of various stuff off the radio which at the time burned itself into my memory banks the way they did, the last snippet before the tape ended was cut short and never identified.. I recognised it instantly and can now enjoy catching up with this great music - its never too late.

Don't the Shulman boys just look so lovely and innocent? Who'd've thought they would one day unleash such a MONSTER ... albeit a gentle one ... Man, am I glad this song gets an overhaul. I've known the record from day one, and I always thought this song in particular was mixed way too low and somewhat out of balance. And now we can hear it in all its glory. you see? ... all is awareness and energy ... awareness the eternal One the IAM, that is , we are all really One being....and energy, that's what appears confusing....there are infinite forms in many layers of existence, because it's uncountable ... but the energy forms come and go and that's temporary...so in meditation I focus on my breath and listen... I am not the body, I am not the mind, I am pure awareness inside empty space and science found out were 99.9% empty space.... I have a relationship with God in our infinite journeys we enjoy together ... focus on IAM!!! Hope it helps, God bless you on your journey ❤
