Your walk looked lovely and so did the strawberry mocktail. I wish I had know you were after a water bladder for your rucksack last year. I had an unused one and a really good rucksack with a frame to keep your back cool it fitted into that I donated because I didn't really use it 😕

Beautiful, beautiful countryside...some areas remind me of our Sherbrooke Forest near where I live. It was 13 deg here today and I have the heating on and 4 layers of clothes...but did sit in sunshine and read after cutting back bushes and raking leaves. I got very sick on Bacardi once, was sick for three days, needless to say I cannot even smell rum without my stomach turning haha....xx

Oh my gosh Sandi I am the same with Bacardi! It was the first drink I ever had a hangover with and I haven't touched it since! Fortunately the non-alcoholic white rum doesn't smell like it, or taste like 😅 13c sounds lovely to me! xx

My daughter used to work at eagle heights and this was one of my regular walking routes, it’s so beautiful over looking the valley ❤

Eagle Heights! I have been there so many times, and Lullingstone Roman Villa too, that was always a good choice on rainy school holidays :) I think that route was one of my favourites - steep in parts but worth it for the view! xx

Oh how I wish we had some many nice walks here where if outdoor go on my own. Nothing of the sort here, however (we do have trails, but most of them are step, through mountains and rocks, not something for daily walks really...), and at this time of the year I’d have to go at dawn as it’s too hot (I live in Sardinia). Lovely vlog! I love using AllTrails. My husband and I just got back from a trip to Poland, part of which was four days hiking in the Tatra Mountains! It was gorgeous. I love the idea of non alcoholic rum. I’ll have to look for it here in the US

My first thought when I saw that little white house with the pale blue shutters and door was, Ali needs to draw this!!...in ink then watercolour washes!! So wonderful. Hi such a beautiful walk, I love walking I sometimes do 10 miles in lovely country side there is nothing better. The most I have walked was 17 miles. My lavender in my garden is nearly out ready for the bees 🐝 I sometimes make lavender bags. All the best thank you for a wonderful vlog 😊

Today we will have 33 C where I live in Pennsylvania in the US and the temperatures will be rising to 36 C in two days. Unfortunately not good weather for walking outdoors so I will walk on my treadmill and try to pretend that I am beside you on this wonderful little excursion. Lovely walk looked so green and verdant. You taking us along on these walks is definitely making me want to get back out there. I used to walk and explore lots before covid luckily here in norfolk I have the option of some beautiful beach and countryside walks. But during covid I stopped walking so much and then perimenopause anxiety took over and I just couldn't do it anymore. Then unfortunately I've had some health problems which have had an impact, I was hoping this would all be resolved with my hysterectomy I had in March but unfortunately there was an unintentional issue that occurred and I've had problems since including a stay in hospital with a very nasty infection and sepsis. I'm feeling much better now but currently have a nephrostomy bag (a catheter coming out directly from my kidney) and will be having further surgery at some point. I'm not fit enough at the moment for walking far but I'm definitely going to aim towards it and remember the enjoyment I used to get from it. Until then I'll live vicariously through your walks 😂 and hopefully my baby steps will soon become huge strides! May also have to try the cocktail as I can no longer drink alcohol at the minute. Sorry for waffling! Just know that you and other channels like you are a light in dark moments, you definitely kept me company during my recent hospital stay so thank you x ❤😊

Hello Ali! I am wondering if ticks are a concern for hiking in grassy areas where you live. Across the pond in New Hampshire, USA they are definitely an issue. Do you have to take any precautionary measures? I get nervous for you!

Yes we get ticks here, although I have never ever seen one in my life. The advice here in England is to be tick aware - as they can be anywhere outside, even just in the garden - so even though they mainly attach to animals I check myself after any walk for signs of bites etc. So far so good! xx

Dan would agree with you on the rum Nicole 😄 he loves a rum and ginger :) I never feel unsafe, because I usually pass so many other walkers, drivers, farmers, dog walkers etc :) But it can be lonely, I prefer to walk with Dan 😃 I’ve done about 430 miles so I need to catch up to be on track 🫣

We do get ticks in the English countryside, but I’ve never had any bites not seen any ticks on me. I just carefully check after walking in case xx

What about mosquitoes? Do you have them? You are never afraid being in the middle of nowhere by yourself .

Yes we get lots of mosquitoes etc here but they're not a problem on my walks. Maybe later in the summer there might be more by the watery areas. Statistically the UK is of the safest places for women to go hiking and dangers to women walking alone are extremely small when hiking in our countryside. I always tell people where I am, where I am going and what time I plan to be back, I have GPS on so I can be tracked and I never walk anywhere very remote, I have never felt in any danger in all my years of walking in the UK xx
