Fabulous as always, darling! You know, the Danish queen's dress gave me both a Tudor and a renaissance feel, not only because of the slashed sleeves, but also the way the blue over-gown feel over the white. It actually reminded me of the Tudor wedding dress that I designed for Reign 's Mary queen of Scots. I would've liked an analysis of the tertiary characters, like the villains, Anne's aunt and father, Ann's sister and her family, Anne's old flame/ friend with benefits, even the girl Anne went to Denmark with; I particularly really liked her costumes however brief she was onscreen.

I love Reign and partly because the costumes are amazing and really make you feel like you're in another time and place. I just had to say thank you and well done!

Costume CO Oh, you’re so very welcome! I just wish more people could see the incredible amount of work that you put into producing these impeccable videos (on such truly interesting subjects!) The history gleaned from period clothing is astounding. One learns so much from (for example) the stays, and underpinnings a woman ‘of means’ wore in the 1830s, simply to create the line of her “carriage gown”. It’s truly fascinating! I’ve had a lovely time watching your channel, & have learned so much, despite not knowing my bobbin, from my needle 😉! I’ll continue to watch your back-catalogue of other videos, which are just as fascinating 🤗! Best, Kitty 🐱 🇦🇺

Hi Kitty, I am learning right along with you! I just love learning about the history, and now thanks to many museums digitizing their collections, we can all get access to all of these amazing historical pieces. I really appreciate your comment. :)

Thanks so much Scully! No, I haven't collaborated with anyone local yet, although I have done a few on location shoots. Still growing. Hopefully that will happen eventually. 😁

thank you for another well done video. Loved seeing all the portrait inserts you had in the video from the museums, particularly the 1832 painting of the Countess, excellent way to show the history of these dresses. Wait, not another season until 2021????? Why? That is awful news, we need more shows that don't turn the lead female character into a crazy tyrant at the end.

I've really enjoyed this series and appreciate your expertise. The costumes for this show are stunningly beautiful and amazing. If the second season doesn't start with the wedding night they might have a full scale riot on their hands! Especially if we have to wait 2 yrs for it. 😊

I remember watching this show for the first time and being surprised to see a women's style I had only ever seen in A Christmas Carol. It's the only thing similar to it I've ever seen in TV or movies.

My caveat with the women's costumes for this series is that it is set in Yorkshire before the railways made an impact on travel - the clothes would be made by local seamstresses copying patterns that would likely be taken from the ladies' magazines of the day, or rather the year before. Leeds had only stagecoach access to London - it would be decades before they had a connecting railway line to the capital although there were already small local lines. The women were not bon ton, just the posh local gentry, and they would definitely be making fashion faux pas rather than wearing the very latest fashions. Anne Lister's black feathery hat is taken from the highest echelons of French Fashion...and unless it was made by the original milliner, then the hat she wore would have all the hallmarks of a milliner wrestling with different fabrics and so forth. I'm only an amateur, but i don't think the poor travel link should have been underestimated, nor the difficulties of obtaining "exotic" fabrics and so forth - worried about all the black fabric too, without modern mordants - it would "rust"

I love all the dresses, gorgeous. Makes me think now of days fashion is so lame. Pelerine Fuchu's are amazing I think they look like the spanish "Mantillas" but for the shoulders of couse. The wedding dress WOOW And the queen dress, I love it, the blue velvet is so bright and perfect.
