I'm always amazed by how you use oranges and browns. Figured it's more of an old-fashioned look but it looks modern with your styling.

Ralph, I hope you will read my comment. When I subscribed to your chanell, I found your videos and style too formal. That was a few months ago (about 8 months ago). Meanwhile I started to wear suits, shirts, ties daily. Now I find your videos and style more useful than Alpha M's and Antonio's which means I dramatically improved my style since I subscribed to your chanell.. I just want to thank you so much you afford you put into your videos!

This is by far the best video and information on pocket squares out there. Most Just try to give generic advice which is usually hit or miss and only good for men new to dressing well. This video though shows exactly what I like to do with complementing and picking up other colors in tie or shirts. Also, I was happy to see him talk about handrolled edges being best and finding correct size for material used.

I love this style of video. Colors are a beautifully complex subject and in my opinion separates the men from the boys when it comes to style. Getting the right fit can be difficult and even frustrating but its not hard to see color and textures are something that one can spend a lifetime mastering. I've made my share of mistakes and I have had to started fresh by being more conservative. I have been trying to hone my instincts and branch out and I know it just simply takes time to develop and signature style. Longer, in depth videos help a guy take those small steps forward. Thank you!

Very insightful. I appreciate the information. I see that you used peaked lapels with a knit tie. To me it seems that the knit fabric seems a bit casual for peaked lapels. Is there something that I am missing, or does this just boil down to preference? Thank you for sharing.

Didn’t get a really specific example in the video, but for someone with lots of striped ties, what pocket square pattern would look good with that? Wider thicker stripes? Checkered? Crosscheck?
@ramanshah7627 Жыл бұрын
I’d look at solids, medallions, polka dots, and various multicolored prints (which look elegantly chaotic when folded). Depends on the shirt and jacket though - if they have patterns going on, I’d probably retreat to a solid or there would be too much going on.

Rapheal, so i should not buy a silk white pocket square but a linnen one? And are different pocket square materials more formal or does it just depend on the pattern and the colour?

Most necktie pocket square sets these days come with a reversible pocket square so that you can wear them together but have a difference yet complementary look

I have found your sense of style and approach very interesting and informative. I was wondering only because I have yet to hear anyone talk about it. What is your opinion about hand painted silk Ties and Pocket Squares? I was just curious. I like them because they are one offs and are very interesting in color and in configuration. Thank you for your consideration, and another great video.

Hello Raphael! Thank you so much for your informative videos. You told us to steer clear from matching bow ties and pocket squares (same design, same material). However, I just wanted to know if it would still be acceptable to use a pocket square of the same design and material as the bow tie but different in colour (ex. Burgundy bow tie with navy blue polka dots, pocket square is navy blue with burgundy polka dots)

great video! I would also add that the key to dressing well is drawing attention to the face. your manneqin combinations do an excellent job of that. to my eye, however, your bright yellow pocket square combined with the bright yellow in your tie tends to draw my attention to your (extremely sharp) outfit. fortunately, you are an excellent presenter so it's a really minor quibble

Love watching your videos So what about same pattern (non-white) shirts and pocket squares? Is that a n0-no as well? Also cotton pocket squares don't have rolled edges, they are stitched.

In the "old days" (I guess 1918-the 1950s) did pocket squares normally match the tie when you bought them together? Or are they always intended to look different from the tie?

How is a pocket square not practical? I thought the pocket square in your jacket was for the lady, and therefore put to use from time to time.

The handkerchief is for the lady, not the pocket square. Once the handkerchief has been used, you can't put in back in the front pocket.
