I am AD Navy right now but working on a BSN. I liked the perks of being AD RN but idk I'll do more research. Super cool if you could answer those!

I came in with civilian experience and my masters. how they divide is civilian time by 2; example 8/2 = 4 military exp so i came in with 7.5 with an advanced degree and was given captain. but yeah im a critical care nurse with a masters in nursing informatics. The application process isn't bad honestly it's pretty straight forward but tedious. since your ad it'll be an easy transition. lifestyle is VERY balanced. I cannot complain.

@@genesis.kts_ that's sick. AD Navy actually is the worst thing ever I guess but from what I can tell healthcare AD is entirely different form the rest of the military. You think your Master's will help with advancement at all down the line? Also do they just start putting yall administrative positions at O-4/5 and up? That is kind of how it goes in the Navy. Also, your ass works the fuck out dog like jesus fucking christ bro. Nice job on that.

YES! I have heard horror stories from my friends who are nurses in the navy and the stories dont sound fun at all. One specifically involving my friend going to japan and being promised a job that was given to someone else who was there and he ended up doing bedside despite his education etc.

Any idea on what they would start me on if I am MSN NP (0 experience) 6 years of RN. Also any idea if nurses or NPs get deployed? TIA.

so they probably won't accept you without experience because they groom their own, unless the degree is in psych. I know with that experience and degree as RN capt, but my understanding is, with no degree it is HARD to get in. yes, i've been on a deployment already.

4N011 would be the pathway to start on becoming a Nurse for the Air Force as an Enlisted. Idk what the pathway is for Officers. But, the jist of it is this. You'll have to talk to your recruiter about the list of jobs you can get after taking the ASVAB, score at least above 57 or higher to get most of the medical jobs. Always go for medical, don't let your recruiter try to rush you into your career. You'll probably end up getting Security Forces (That almost happened to me) Go to BMT, graduate (easiest part of the pathway lol), you will then be going to Fort Sam Houston to begin your Phase 1 of Tech. Training. When i went, i was told that 4N011 (Aerospace Medical Service/CNA) is essentially a tough career to get in because of its accelerated and difficult training. However, everyone is different, some can get the material easily or not. Essentially, you are trained as an EMT Nurse because the main test you want to pass while there (Despite the many other tests you need to pass) is the NREMT. That is the one test that most people fail. Just for clarification, i am not a 4N0, i am a 4H011. I am training as a Respiratory Care Therapist, which i think is way more fun albeit a longer tech school. The reason is that, 4N0s don't get alot of practical training in their field when they finally arrive at Phase 2 of training at the base's hospital since their Phase 2 training is literally 6 weeks. 4H011 tech training is like 1 Year and 6 months long in total with both Phases combined. BUT! You get to work in a civillian hospital, get a ton of exposure and training before you take your last two exams which definitely helps by being in Phase 2. 4N0s don't have tests after Phase 1 which makes their life easier 😅
