Got a new bottle of Profumo recently and noticed they replaced the magnetic cap with a chintzy plastic material. Atomizer is substandard. Really disappointing to see this from Armani; nickel and diming for margins. There’s more quality in a bottle of Reyane Tradition…quite a bit more which is alarming. At the same time, standard bottle prices have jumped from $80-100 to $160 and the consumer just rolled over and accepted it as the new norm. It’s capitalism and well within their rights to keep giving less for more but I’m done.

Hot take: there need to be MORE fragrances in the 30 mL size. After a year of collecting I have many bottles in 50, 75, or 100 mL that it would take me forever to work through. It feels like I’m either relegated to an oversized bottle or a decant in many cases. 30 mL is a perfect sweet spot both from a volume and a price standpoint.

Great video of this new release! Recently I often heard you describe a fragrance as "sweet and fresh", or as in this case "sweeter and fresher than the original", how exactly can I imagine this explanation of scent? My (beginner) thought always was that a fragrance is either fresh or sweet, and that a smell that becomes fresher therefore becomes less sweet (I thought: ADG, Bleu de Chanel, Sauvage = fresh; and One Million, JPG Ultra Male, Eros = sweet) Would love to learn how these two terms actually can be used to describe a smell!

It's never smelled the same way in any perfume I've tried because it's a rough approximation made out of other chemicals. Hindu Kush barely smells like it but there's some real leaf stank in Bad Boy Parfum. In designers it's going to be a sweet green smell that they just call cannabis for marketing.

i've recently heard about the change that was made to adg parfum apparently they made a slight reformulation to make it smell even more like profumo used to, idk if thats true tho. Also the gradient of the bottle has slightly changed and the armani logo is now at the bottom, the cap is supposed to be magnetic aswell.

You have to take into consideration that the 22 version has macerated most likely so it will smell different compared to the newer version. This would be completely redundant to own both. Just give me Profondo Parfum and call it a day lol

To spend less money on my perfume collection, I have agreed with myself to only buy new bottles of perfume series that I completely own like Givenchy gentleman, Guerlain L'homme Ideal and.....Aqcua di gio. And now they come up with these iterative 2024 versions.....you realize that's a problem👿😠

I really think based on L’Oréal logic, if they keep the same name, the intention is not to create a new scent but to keep the OG scent. If the FIL number is changed, most likely due to some ingredient sourcing changes. For example, passive sicenario : some raw material used to use now being banned, they are forced to replace the formulation and then try to reduplicate the scent as close as possible ; positive scenario: the brand wants to boost the sustainability of raw material, so they change the supplier of raw material but still intend to reduplicate the scent as close as its past version. In case of “keeping the same name, but with a new formulation”, it would be like the case of YSL Y EDT, new one versus the old one, and they did communicate that it is a new formula when the new one is released, for Y EDT, the cause of the change was mainly for the sake of improving its performance as the first generation of Y EDT, the performance was too bad. So in conclusion: I believe for EDT, Profondo EDP, EDP, Parfum, now in 2024 they are all in new pack (Parfum despite the same design, but the sizing regime is now changed from 40/75/125 to 30/50/100), but I do not assume the house wants to really create a new or adjusted scent apart from their past versions even if the FIL (formula Number) has been changed. The only intended new release from the house for 2024 big ADG campaign would be on “Profondo Parfum”. FIL changes are very often in cosmetics industry, even more in skincare items. In the case of fragrance production it can be even more sensitive as even for the same FIL , just by different batches could result in some nuances in its olfactory perception and slight alternation on its performance. Hope this bring an another perspective in this debate from someone who has always worked in the marketing of cosmetics brands. :-)

Ik I wasn't crazy I was getting a slightly pungent scent that reminded me or that one bad boy fragrance. The cannabis isn't as strong but it hits my nose, hoping it gets better when macerated, I was just hoping for a stronger version of the EDT, that nice clean scent. This is so green to my nose
