I love that Giorgio Armani keeps pumping out the endless Acqua di Gio flankers. I like the variety since ADG is my favorite fragrance line. I live in mostly hot climate here in northern California so, naturally, most of my collection is "blue", fresh, citrus, or aquatics. Looking forward to reviews of the rebottled EDT (2024) & EDP (2024), also the new Profondo Parfum.

I can make this review for you. EDT is more greener, its not as stale aquatic fruity that it was. Thus its more what EDT was in 1996. Parfum is heavy on pachuli and incense with little aquatic undertone, very much what Profumo was in 2016, just a tad bit weaker. EDP is in between, you can smell the pacbuli, some incense and more aquatic fruity accord. Profondo old vs new is more or less what Ash said while Profodo Parfum is the same Progondo minus the mineralic notes. It is thus less fresh, more sweet. Way less character and is borderline boring but I like it more as its Profondo without the mineral notes which didnt sit well with me.

I have to be honest. I'm a little confused as to what Armani is trying to accomplish here? It seems like they're essentially creating the same fragrance with slight tweaks with each release, and I'm curious how the public is going to receive it. I guess this is their answer to the Y line, or the Sauvage line.

I prefer this approach to reformulation or cutting oil percentages without any way for consumers to know until they've spent their money. This way you always know what you're buying and hopefully the retailers will have to list them as separate items for sale.

Dude, the OG Profondo is my #1 during the summer. The scent it self and the bottle is just amazing to me. I would love to have the OG version in my collection for the rest of my life. Hope they bring it back one day 🙏🏻.

I cant wait to get this - i have been a fan of Profondo for some time but wished it was less herbaceous and mor fresh and sweet - so i turned to Azzaro Chrome Extreme that has these qualities. ACE has now been discontinued so it's music to my ears that Profondo now has these tweaks, can't wait. Also i love to see Ash's slightly emotional conclusion of the video, relieved that this beautiful fragrance has been enhanced ❤

This sounds pretty nice. I blind bought a 4.2oz of Profondo a few years ago, and I've never been in love with it. It's just ok to me - I do find that it has that little sharp "funk" note and is overall kind of abrasive - not smooth enough for me.

They should have made Profondo EDP 2024 bottle with the blue gradient starting from the bottom to match the new EDP 2024 & kept the new Profondo Parfum as is since it matches the regular Parfum.

I just picked up the 2024. For me it smells even better than the original, and that was already one of my top picks. But it doesn’t even last 3 hours, nor does it project more than a foot. I’m telling you when I say it smells like the best blue fragrance, I mean it. But it does NOT last or project. Go find a sample bottle in person, spray it on your skin, go about your day until you buy it. I can’t even get a whiff of it when I try unless my nose is an inch away from where I sprayed.

In the air, Profumo and the Parfum are identical, or so close that it doesn’t warrant trying to hunt down a bottle of Profumo vs. just going to Ulta and getting a bottle of the Parfum. I’d imagine this is exactly the case with this new version of Profondo.

Profumo has better performance than parfum unfortunately. Parfum lasted like 2 hours on my after trying it at Macys. Profumo lasts 6 with 3 sprays.

I’m happy to hear they may have handled that weird ‘thing’. I never got egg, but I definitely would get something that would remind me like someone leaving their clothes in the washer overnight and forgetting to stick them in the dryer. It was like a wet rag smell. If they took care of that, I’m gonna be buying bottles and bottles of this new Profondo, because I seriously loved the opening and wished that it had stayed there, but then just dried like a less humid version of the opening.

Profondo has been my signature scent for a while. Office friendly, easy to wear literally anywhere, I get complements and nobody is ever overwhelmed with the smell. Women have told me they hate when dudes wear strong stuff to work “sauvage”. I hate that I have to buy more bottles of this stuff but they really did enhance the Profumo and profondo

I have it. And it’s different. The OG’s opening is a bit fresher. The 2024 EDT smells like it has been “slimmed” down. Not as many notes as in the OG.

I really think based on L’Oréal logic, if they keep the same name, the intention is not to create a new scent but to keep the OG scent. If the FIL number is changed, most likely due to some ingredient sourcing changes. For example, passive sicenario : some raw material used to use now being banned, they are forced to replace the formulation and then try to reduplicate the scent as close as possible ; positive scenario: the brand wants to boost the sustainability of raw material, so they change the supplier of raw material but still intend to reduplicate the scent as close as its past version. In case of “keeping the same name, but with a new formulation”, it would be like the case of YSL Y EDT, new one versus the old one, and they did communicate that it is a new formula when the new one is released, for Y EDT, the cause of the change was mainly for the sake of improving its performance as the first generation of Y EDT, the performance was too bad. So in conclusion: I believe for EDT, Profondo EDP, EDP, Parfum, now in 2024 they are all in new pack (Parfum despite the same design, but the sizing regime is now changed from 40/75/125 to 30/50/100), but I do not assume the house wants to really create a new or adjusted scent apart from their past versions even if the FIL (formula Number) has been changed. The only intended new release from the house for 2024 big ADG campaign would be on “Profondo Parfum”. FIL changes are very often in cosmetics industry, even more in skincare items. In the case of fragrance production it can be even more sensitive as even for the same FIL , just by different batches could result in some nuances in its olfactory perception and slight alternation on its performance. Hope this bring an another perspective in this debate from someone who has always worked in the marketing of cosmetics brands. :-)
