Great firmware update! The only remaining improvement that I would like to see is expanded support for the Xbox controller. If the 2nd joystick paddle were enabled, games like Robotron would play perfectly. Side note for anyone that struggled, as I did, to correct the layout of vertical games, you need to download artwork that is .art format and not .lay. Many of the samples I found on the internet are .lay, which won’t work. Also, if you want the game to fill the screen and not be contained in a small window with the graphics around the game, I found that editing the file in Notepad and changing the Position values to -0.0,-0.35,1.0,1.35 worked great. I also had to create a new .png file for the bezel art which is just a black background and a new transparent layer that filled the entire game window. Once that is done, games like Pac-Man or 1942 will display full screen in the correct aspect ratio.

On a related note for the SD card business, prior to the firmware change there have been some folks who managed to get Mega/Sega CD images working - though I personally haven't managed it but I thought that may be worth mentioning. Looking forward to expanding the current library ^_^ and might I suggest a follow-up to your previous vid about the SD card, in light of the update. Edit: As luck would have it, I have every single cable in the house *besides* the one I need to make the interface between the GSP and PC, what a tease lol. Looks like I'm going shopping for a proper cable later. Edit2: Firmware update done, extra set of roms uploaded and folders created. So much easier to navigate now MyArcade knows their stuff damn, still no save states for SD card games but I'll take the update and boot up my old Sonic games I grew up with.

If you sort your game names inside your individual folders alphabetically before you eject your SD card from your computer, then when you go access it from the GSP, you will see the game names alphabetized on your system. The GSP just accesses the files how you sorted and saved them on your card. On my wishlist for a future update is support for Nintendo 64 games.

An amazing update and I'm glad Atari seems to be going the direction they are. Some observations/requests of them. The ROM for 2600 Omega Race had a special controller with a second button, but it does not seem to be mapped to B or Trigger. All you get is thrust. I tried the ROM for the Arcade version, and you do get both thrust (A), and fire(B), but being able to remap those would be great, they seem backward. I'd rather make the trigger fire, and A thrust, if there was a way to do so. And as has been my dream/hope for every Atari home system ever..... I would love to have a true spinner controller for Tempest. The versions of Tempest on the Atari VCS (the recent linux pc one) are amazing, but none of them support a proper spinner controller.

Thanks for watching, and I appreicate the sentiment. Many folks have asked if I would sell a curated SD card, but the legality around distribution of these games (especially for purchase) just isn't worth the risk for GenXGrownUp as an entity. Luckily, all the ROMs are easy enough to find with just a little effort.

It fixed my audio! Would have been nice if they added some games! Of course I know we can add games on the SD card but still. Can we put that in a suggestion box that they add more games on the update and also make the update a little bit easier we shouldn't have to do all that work we should be able to just get the file from the website unzip it and then load it to the system just a thought!❤
@GenXGrownUp9 ай бұрын
I suppose "all that work" is relative; I found it to be straightforward and comparable to how similar devices are updated. Thanks for this! Very much love to hear that Atari 8-bit PC (400-800/XL/XE) is apparently being worked into the emulation. Hoping a USB-C keyboard works, ‘cause if the Atari 8-bits *are* capable of being run, soon, I’m gonna be playing Ultima II - IV, over the Holiday Season, the Holiday Season-and dooptie doo, and flippity flop-if such an update drops by the 26th! A good 8-bit emulator is _exactly_ what I want, ‘cause I don’t trust the notoriously-glitchy PSUs from 40+ years ago, one of which already zapped my 600XL - which is why I wasn’t using my much-preferred 800 - “Old Ironsides.” Love the new tee - esp the “Vinatage(Vision)” ones! Thank you for the detailed rundown of how to install the new firmware! Much appreciated. Only thing I don't see addressed is paddle support for games loaded from SD - would be great to be able to play Kaboom, etc! Secondary to that, a way to remap buttons on outside controllers would be a nice feature (though I know, asking a lot here - but I can dream!)

If you rename your Kaboom! rom to Breakout.a26 you can use the paddle (for the first player anyway). I renamed the Avalanche demo to Warlords.a26 and the paddle worked as well. Maybe put it into a separate folder to keep the original?

@@domeshtan1677 Thank you for the tip about this! I imagine with folder support, this would be easy enough to work around, with a number of sub-folders that contain "breakout.a26" but are actually other games per the names of their respective folders.

@@btr3k I found out naming everything Warlords.a26 worked better overall. Kaboom! only played on the player 1 side naming it Breakout.a26. I named it Warlords.a26 and both players worked for controls. Only Backgammon is giving me issues for player 2 control.

Thanks for the Atari Gamestation videos. I can't wait to update mine. Edit: Wanted to add that my only criticism would be that if possible they need to add the firmware updating process to the console itself since they have a SD card reader. The console debug method is kind of dated. Minor criticism as listening to people and keeping the console up to date is far more important so kudos to them!

You're very welcome! Your request was already granted!, btw. Provisions are made in 1.30 to allow for future updates to be done directly from the SD card. Yay!
