I think I would attach a strip of plastic on the wood of bed, thus avoiding screwing into the camper wall. It could have a hinge on it as well so it flips. Cheers are great idea.

That is fricking awesome! I'm 6'4 as well. I have been trying to decide between the FBS model and this model. You just helped me decide on the Murphy bed!

Hi Chuck, I think this Murphy bed is a much better choice for you taller guys! Thanks for the feedback. Enjoy!

Love this idea! Just purchased this model and the gap at head of bed and height of tv need adjustments. Thank you!!

Hi M, Thanks for watching! You'll love your Geo Pro...we do! We bought this 17PR model of the Geo Pro because of the 'hybrid bed' in the back, this is home for my 2 dogs when we aren't in the great outdoors. This hybrid area with the RV queen mattress is very roomy for my dogs and they love it! The mattress is heated so it's very nice in the cooler months and the 13,500 BTU AC unit in this smaller RV cools this area nicely on the warmer days and nights. ~let me know about the TV adjustment you make.

We have the same rig we’re living in we had the same issue with that space plus our cat falls in and can’t get herself out. I put swimming tubes taped together for a short term fix I wasn’t sure about putting screws in I will use your way it looks better. Now to figure out what to do with the frame behind the couch that gave way after while from the stress of putting the bed up

Thanks Sandy! Post your 'frame behind the couch problem' with photos on the Rockwood Geo-Pro/E-Pro Facebook page and you'll get a bunch of suggestions for fixing your problem.

Great idea to add some space. How about adding a piano hinge to the "topper" so that it can be simply folded up against the wall for closing?
@geoproonthegorving92395 жыл бұрын
Hi Dennis, a piano hinge is a great idea and I thought about buying one, but I decided to just use the scrap items I had on hand...making it a very inexpensive project. Even though I didn't use the piano hinge, the 'topper' does rest nicely up against the wall when it's lifted out of position just before closing the bed. Thanks for the interest and first comment!!
@a1930ford5 жыл бұрын
@@geoproonthegorving9239 Forget the piano hings and simply glue in one or two rare earth magnets so it is held up in place as you store the Murphy bed. They are cheap and easy to add. Even with a piano hinge, the "topper" as you call it, could easily drop when you don't want it to.

I would be careful screwing into the walls where they never intended to have screws. You never know what is routed behind the wall. I just ordered a 19FD and we may need to do this also but I hope a good quality stud/wire finder tool will keep me out of trouble. Most of the time you just going into a thin layer of azdel backed by foam so you have almost nothing to prevent screws from tearing out under any kind of load.

I wondered about this as well. Wouldn't Liquid Nails work just as well at keeping that small wood piece up?

Thank you for this! I plan on getting the RD and was wondering about this. I know making videos isn't as easy as it seems. I've made many. Can I just suggest for some of your text you make the font a little larger? Makes it easier for those of us watching on our phones and who's eyes may be a little older 👀lol great video!!
@geoproonthegorving92394 жыл бұрын
Hi Michelle, THANKS for the advice, it makes sense for all of you out there that use your phone for everything, that's pretty much everyone...right? I'm old school, I do nothing on my phone so I never even thought about it. Gonna have to check out your videos! Thanks again!

Great video! Any chance you can provide the size screws you used? I don’t want to install a screw that is too long!
@geoproonthegorving92394 жыл бұрын
Thanks davisbruss. I used regular drywall screws, I believe they were an inch in length.

I noticed at 3:14 that you had what looked like a towel rack from Big Lots on the cabinet there at the Murphy bed. Am I right on that? I got mine at Big Lots.
@geoproonthegorving92395 жыл бұрын
Yes. BIG LOTS! You can find pretty much anything you need for the R.V. at BIG LOTS! Thanks for watching!

How would it be to add hinges to your topper along the strip you attached to the wall? That would allow it to flip up but not get 'lost' down the hole.
@geoproonthegorving92394 жыл бұрын
Hi Silas Longshot, It won't get lost down in the hole behind the bed unless you drop it down there purposely. I flip it up against the wall and it stays right in place. When you fold the bed up to the wall...the mattress holds the topper in place against the wall until you open the bed up the next time .

My husband is 6'4" as well. Thanks for the mod idea for the Murphy bed. Curious - how does your husband find walking under the A/C?
