That entire area has so many interesting and different pockets of minerals. We have been camping near Blythe during the last few winters and have located some great spots for chalcedony and agates as well as thunder eggs throughout the area. Thanks for sharing.😉✌️

My friends and I dug geodes at the Hauser Beds many times in the 1990's. My best find was a 9 inch diameter one. A pal with a big rock saw cut it in half for me. Both halves are on display on my porch. They took home buckets of baseball size geodes.

Headed out there for my first time next week. Always found thunder eggs fascinating. Never know what you are going to find until you cut one open. Very informative video and explanation on how they are formed. Thanks!

That was very informative. Thanks! I'm new to rockhounding and learning a lot from your videos. If you ever want to rockhound a beach, San Diego had some major king tides this year that stripped away the sand leaving about a billion beautiful rocks...but it won't last long. Would happily play guide (and student) for a beach hounding expedition.

We live in the San Diego area, and you are absolutely correct about the beach rocks are gorgeous. One of our trips we found a 69 pound solid quartz rock. It is 15"x9"x9" and our flashlight shines all the way through on all sides.

If you haven't been already you should check out the mecca hills, beautiful slot canyons, including one called skeleton canyon which the san andreas fault runs through, really great geology and hiking, not much for collecting besides some gypsum minerals that precipitate out of the mud/clay hills

Thunderegg back =ryolite when ive been lookin for them look for the decomposed stuff and where the ground colour changes ,ive done well out of this method
