I know people are obsessed with ‘who can go lower. ‘. But for me it’s the strength, smoothness and tonal quality throughout his range that sets Geoff apart. And by the way his name is said like Jeff.

@minaha19753 жыл бұрын
People have to understand..."it's not this how low can you go" competition. It's impressive but so are high notes. I responded to.this in alot of channels. My dad was an F1 but he did not put any effort to sing these notes. It's just how your instrument works. Now you can train it into singing 4 octaves. But you can't go to F1 if you are a Baritone. Every vocalist has his range an bass singers have theirs...
@upsidedownpyramid76172 жыл бұрын
@@minaha1975 I am not a bass at all, definetly a baritone, but I can go to F1 pretty easily once I warm my subharmonics up (same with the baritone instrument, a pedal F is the lowest a skilled player can get consistently). With the right technique a baritone can be just as low and clear down there as a bass, the only advantage is that there are people like eric holloway who are born being able to sing that F1 in chest. lowest I can do is a D2 at 19 before my fry kicks in, but from there I can get to A0. Like you said though, its not about how low, its about the strength and tonal quality. A0-F5 means nothing if it doesn't sound good which is why I am focused above all else on my tone, I want my subs to sound almost effortless, like its chest voice.

Carry On My Wayward Son is another excellent one...

I think of the many bass singers I have listened to. Geoff has the smoothest, most edgey, crisp voice and techniques ever. Sure he can hit the pits of hell with some of his notes but to hit the basement AND keep that smooth cutting clean sound is HARD to do.
