As with Voiceplay, Geoff does most of the work himself. The final edit goes to Ed Boyer, the same as Voiceplay, Home Free and most acapella groups. (Ed is just the best for this type of music!). But except for makeup and sometimes camera work, Geoff - with the help of Kathy - does everything. (When they showed up at the former prison to shoot Folsom Prison Blues, they were asked when the rest of the crew would arrive. They had to tell them they were the crew!) I believe for this video Eli assisted with the video editing. Geoff was having problems getting the transparent effect to work. But mostly it’s just the two of them. (With a little help from their friends!)

The printed/painted background Geoff wanted to use wasn't going to arrive in time so Eli helped by creating the digital backgrounds we see. But Geoff suffered through the video editing and rendering even though his green screen skills are "average at best," he said. Daryl, with his long coat, was especially difficult and time-consuming. When Geoff got frustrated, Kathy convinced him to persevere rather than shoot the whole video again, like he did with Monster Mash the year before.

His Headless Horseman is another one suitable for Halloween. :) There was a time when Layne did all the mixing for both VoicePlay and Geoff but it was getting too much , with doint Parrycake productions as well, so he asked Geoff to learn to do it and take some of the weight. Read the credits, it will tell you everything. Geoff does produce all the music on his videos, using his keybaord with plugins. Both VP and Geoff send off the finished thing for a final remix. Again, read the credits. It's no mystery who does what.

If you are looking for any more Halloween suggestions, I have two. First, VoicePlay’s Once Upon A Dream. This is Disney, and not usually thought of as spooky. But that’s because you haven’t heard their version. Probably their first “theatrical” video. My favorite Halloween video is Pattycake Productions Bump in the Night. (Pattycake is Layne Stein and Tony Wakim - former Voiceplay baritone). An original song they wrote and featuring many horror film villains, this was filmed during Covid and even features a ‘Thriller’ style dance break. But all with their typical attention to detail and humor.

Pattycake Productions released an intricate behind the scenes video on their Patreon yesterday. They said they hope it's the first of many of its kind Yes. It was filmed during covid and all the dancers had to stay 6' apart during the dance scene.

Geoff put out this song in October last year - so even he considered it his Halloween song for 2022. And between the slightly blue skin tones and the blue contacts, lots of comments about White Walkers went out, as well as it simply being about a Ghost herd & riders. It kind of reminds me a bit of a western version of The Wild Hunt. I was in high school in the ‘70s and distinctly remember this from a day long outdoor concert that included a group named The Outlaws. If I recall correctly I had gone mostly for The Almann Brothers, but I think my main aural memory of that day was an entire baseball stadium full singing a beautiful ‘Yippee Aye A” together. Geoff’s voice on that line is just perfect.

Gentlemen - If you want to hear Ghost Riders in the Sky as a SMOKIN' hot instrumental, listen to the version by Glen Campbell and Roy Clark - two of the most under-rated guitar players ever. It's only a three minute cover, but it is FIRE! Thaks for your reactions - they are lots of fun.

Another western film that's really good is Silverado! If you haven't seen that one, check it out. A very young Kevin Costner is in it. A ton of great actors: Kevin Kline, Jeff Goldblum, Danny Glover, Scott Glenn. As for Geoff's version of Ghost Riders in the Sky... one of my favorites! Great reaction!

Geoff does his own video editing and the initial audio edit. Same when he works on a VoicePlay video. Final edit goes to Ed Boyer, who is awesomely talented when it comes to putting final polish on a cappella tracks for groups like VoicePlay, Home Free, and many others. Geoff said it took forever to do the green screen rendering. The backdrop he wanted wasn't going to arrive in time so Eli helped create the digital backgrounds we see, and Geoff got to sharpen his green screen skills. (Which he displayed again in Jack's Lament.) Note the attention to detail -- each gunslinger not only has a unique costume and hair design (Rick Underwood was the "beard wrangler" and makeup artist) but they're right-handed, left-handed, hip holster, shoulder holster, etc. L-R Jeff, Daryl, Geoff, Goff, and Jeoph. The ghosts are pale, and even when they sing lead like Jeoph doing the yippee-i-oh, yippee-i-ay chorus, their voices are back a bit, not as bright as lead Geoff. Y'know. Like ghosts.

I love the costuming. Two right handed hip rigs, one left-handed hip rig, and the fourth has a shoulder rig. That's a detail that many would miss in putting this together.

Even if the song wasn’t originally thought as a spooky song, it was Geoff’s Halloween release last year (along with some spooky narrations). And his clones are ghosts (I love the makeup!). Geoff does the initial sound mixing, I believe to give a hint of how he wants it to sound, but then he sends it to Ed Boyer (THE mixer for acapella groups). He edits the video himself. Everything always says in the credits in the description.

I absolutely love Geoff's version of Monster Mash. So much fun! If you want to watch a *really* good western, watch Silverado. It's a lot of fun and has some great actors in it from before they were such big A listers. Also, Clint Eastwood's Pale Rider is really good, too. Those are my two favorite.

Funny you mentioned Gunsmoke. One of characters was Festus, played by Ken Curtis. Curtis sang with The Sons Of The Pioneers. SOTP sang Ghost Riders In The Sky, the version I'm most familiar with. Many have covered this song over the last 75 years, including SOTP, Burl Ives, and Johnny Cash. This song has definitely stood the test of time.

You mentioned that you'd like to see a western. Tombstone came out in 1993. Kurt Russell played Wyatt Earp the famous lawman. He was born in 1848 and died in 1928 at the age of 80. Val Kilmer played Doc Holliday. It was about the infamous shootout at the OK Corral which actually happened. This is probably the best modern day western. So a good watch if you're so inclined

For this video Geoff is backed by Goff, Jeoph, Jeff, and Daryl. I forget which is which other than Daryl is in the brown leather duster. And notice that the one on the other side of Geoff is left-handed. Please react to Unshaken from Red Dead Redemption 2. Their are only four of them in that video; the Ghost Riders when they were still alive, without Geoff.

Yellowstone is the name of the ranch in Montana. The full name of the ranch is Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. Dutton is the name of the family and they just call the ranch Yellowstone. FYI

Have you tried any of Avi Kaplan's solo work since leaving PTX ? If not you should give it a try. He has a lot of songs/videos available and he's getting ready to release his second full length album soon. He's been working with producer Shooter Jennings (Waylon's son) on his first and upcoming second album. I've been watching a lot of reactors do Avi's music videos with no issues, so maybe you will also. If you do, I'd suggest his first and most popular song since going solo, "Change on the Rise", his official video for "I'm Only Getting Started" ( a B&W video) , and "When I'm a Fool" live at Sunset Sound (it's a jam session and it's Crazy good ! ) Oh, I almost forgot - " All Is Well - 7 Layers Sessions " is a must !

I always assumed - never watched it - the TV show referred to the Yellowstone River country, which runs through Montana. Since we know no one could have a a ranch in the National Park. I’ve heard it is hard to harmonize with yourself and not have it sound just flat - not flat musically but uninteresting.
