It's always tricky for new reactors to tell on Geoff's cover's of "I See Fire" and "Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold" that 'those singers'.... are actual 'that singer'. Each of those men was Geoff, in different costumes and facial hair, just cloned in video. His range is really remarkable- from deep, abyssal bass to a light, floaty tenor; approximately 5 octaves in total that he has access to with decent regularity. But not only that, his tone is so round, full and warm- in all ranges- that it makes him a standout vocalist. Add to that his ridiculous control (be can jump up or down several octaves with with pinpoint accuracy and astounding agility), and oh, did I mention that he also arranged that piece and shot the video with the help of his wife and with a lighting assist from a friend (also a fellow member of the a cappella group, VoicePlay, with whom Geoff sings bass), and then did the editing as well. Geoff is a man of many, many, *many* talents, and we're lucky he shares them with us!

And you left out that he creates and records the backing track himself through a midi piano and various samples/plug ins and that he loves to experiment. What you think you're hearing may not actually be what you're hearing. (For example, the snare sound in this is a shovel in mud and a shovel in sand.)

One person but Geoff packs the talent of four. I hope you react to more of his work, and check out the a cappella group he's in, Voiceplay.

Let me help. It's pronounced as Jeff Casteloochi. :) I suggest you see How To Sing Low, by Geoff. Or How To Sing Very Low. Yes, these guys are all Geoff. He is also playing the piano. And filmig and editing it. And of course he arranged it too. You should really watch the outro as well.

All of these guys are Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci (cas ta loo chee). He is portraying 4 of the dwarves in the Hobbit movies. Filli... Bofur... Killi... Thorin. He also did "Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold" from Hobbit 1 a year before this was done. Same dwarves. Thorin.... Bofur.... Killi..... Filli. In all of Geoff's videos it is only him singing. Whether like this (in most of his videos) or as backup voices. He clones himself 3-4 times for harmonies. Each with their own names.... Jeff, Jeoph, Goff and Daryl. Long story on how that came about. He is a bass singer in his acapella group Voiceplay. In his solo channel he uses instruments. Both are phenomenal with tons of fantastic videos to choose from. Geoff's latest video is Wicked Game by Chris Isaak. Voiceplay's latest video is Sleeping In The Cold from the Warframe video game. Geoff Castellucci released his newest video on his Patreon Feb 29th. It is absolutely amazingly beautiful. Brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it. He brought back his ghost cowboys from his "Ghost Riders In The Sky" video. I'm guessing he'll release it to KZbin on the 8th. If not the 15th.

Four characters, ONE singer, FIVE octaves range. 🙂 Welcome to Geoff ("Jeff") Castellucci's world and rabbit hole 😁. Had you listened to the spoken outro, you'd get a hint at the fact that they were all just one person, as he says "I hope you enjoyed this because I'm sure I still have glue on my face because of all the makeup" 😅. BTW, you say you want to become a bass singer? Geoff has three videos (if I remember correctly) on his channel where he teaches "How to sing REALLY LOW", he goes through the main techniques he uses and explain how to develop them. Spoiler: it takes an humongous amount of work and dedication 😉. Liked your reaction. See you next time! 🙂

There is just one person harmonizing with himself: Geoff (pronounced Jeff) Castellucci. From head voice to subharmonics he has a range of 5 octaves. In his solo stuff he uses instruments, but he is also part of the acapella group VoicePlay which doesn't use instruments (except when you see one) but does all with their voices. On his solo channel, Geoff makes almost everything by himself (others are mentioned in his descriptions). If you want to hear/see more from him, I would suggest: Ghostriders in the Sky (funny) kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2bUi6WopNujq9k Monster Mash (funny) kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2O2mGybm8djnsU Mele Kalikimaka feat. You must listen to Hoist the Colours by Voice Play next, or soon. Geoff has a stunning bass line running through that song. Then if you want to see Geoff do comedy, try Way on Down, or Monster Mash. Drunken Sailor and In the Hall of the Mountain King with Voice Play are hilarious. Then Skyrim, Valhalla Calling... so many incredible songs.

Subscribed to see more Geoff Castellucci & VoicePlay reactions. Geoff is the bass singer for VoicePlay, which is an acapella group. He is the only one singing all 4 parts. He has a 5 octave range and is amazing. You need to check out his covers of Wicked Games; Jack's Lament; 16 Tons; Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold; Ain't No Sunshine, just to name a few. For VoicePlay, I would suggest: Valhalla Calling; Hoist the Colors; Drunken Sailor; Nothing Else Matters; Creep; Seven Nation Army; Hellfire. They have many more amazing songs but this is just a few to get you started. He has a video on How to sing really low. You need to check it out.

This is a follow up to what has always been one of my favorites: Misty Mountains Cold from The Hobbit. They saved most of the costuming and hairpieces and beards from that video and were able to reuse them in this one. It’s still one of my favorites because it’s so soothing to listen to. But we get to see more of his range in this one as each of the dwarves gets to sing rather than provide back up. Whenever you’re watching a Geoff Castelucci or VoicePlay video, always let it run through until the patron rolls. There will sometimes be an epilogue or just some behind-the-scenes or a message from them. It frequently will add to what you’ve just watched. Subscribing in hopes that you’ll react to more of his videos as well as VoicePlay. VoicePlay is the group he cofounded back a very long time ago. He and the beatboxer met in middle school along with Earl (laser high tenor who is no longer with them) and have been performing ever since. They released their first album in 97 just out of high school and have been singing together ever since. They’ve been a few personnel changes along the way because it’s been over 20 years! They are currently only four members although it’s designed to be a five member group so they fill in that empty spot with guest artists many of whom are repeat visitors (including a prior member of the group who many of us will return as a permanent member when his time in the military is up). Geoff frequently arranges four and five part harmonies, voicing all the parts and usually but not always filming a clone of himself for every part. As others have marked, he does have a few short tutorials on his channel on singing low in general and using subharmonics specifically. I found myself scaring all the neighbors by making crazy sounds trying to reach subharmonics. And I actually succeeded once and surprised myself so much that I stopped and haven’t been able to do it since.😂 Somewhere, at sometime, I read or heard that he had learned some subharmonics from David Larson, who has a very extensive library on how to sing sub harmonics and other throat singing type techniques. I’m not a trained musician but I did watch one of his one hour long videos and was absolutely fascinated. You might want to check him out as well.

Subscribing in anticipation of more Geoff and Voiceplay. As a gamer, you might like Geoff's new release, Unshaken from Red Dead Redemption 2. Voiceplay have also released several covers of songs from games. Their Halo Theme is outstanding and was actually reviewed by the original composer. They covered My Mother Told Me & Valhalla Calling, The Dragonborn Comes from Skyrim and just this month Sleeping in the Cold Below from Warframe. They also have some amazing classic rock covers along with lots of Disney and many more. They cover almost every genre you can imagine and being completely independence they don't block videos and do all their own arranging, lighting, editing, production. The only thing they don't do is the final mix. You can check the video description for more info on who worked on what for each of their covers.

And the dwarves strike again, sewing confusion everywhere! It's a little disappointing you didn't let the rest of the video play, with Geoff talking, as his little joke about still having glue on his face from all of the makeup might have given you a hint that yes, everyone you saw and heard on screen was indeed Geoff. It's not unusual for there to 4 (sometime 5) versions of Geoff on screen at once, as he unusually has one clone for each vocal line he sings in a cover. Often it's just versions of himself in normal clothes, without all of the costumes and makeup he had here, but there are a number of videos where he goes all-out for the characters. It's something he shares with the a cappella vocal group he sings bass in, VoicePlay, who are known as "the theater kids of a cappella".
