Love Geoff's version of Jim Croce's song way back from 1972. I first learned of Croce when I was back in high school and he did this one the year I married my love of my life. I would LOVE to hear Geoff do Croce's Time In A Bottle which is my very favorite of Croce's work and I really can''t imagine anyone else doing it as well as Geoff.

I was born in 1976, but my mother was a huge Jim Croce fan, so I grew up with him, the Eagles, ELO, and many other groups from that era playing on vinyl. My dad was more into old-school country, so I had the chance to grow up listening to Ernie Ford and artists like that... Geoff's song choices are ones I am always familiar with thanks to the contrast of music my parents listen to.

@@johndeeregreen4592 Sounds like a lot of what I had access to when my brother and I got adopted. Tennessee Ernie Ford, Hank Williams, Sr., Marty Robbins, which made me out of sync with the kids at school with Beatles, etc.

I'm old but don't remember hearing this song, though I did know Jim Croce's other song Big Bad Leroy Brown. We don't always hear songs from the US over here in Britain. But Geoff makes everything special. He's such a genius.

Geoff did this Jim Croce song proud. I remember when this song came out ion the early 70's. Jim Croce was an amazing song writer. I'd like to hear Geoff do a cover of Bad, Bad LeRoy Brown.

I particularly enjoyed your silent eyebrow commentary starting 2:05 -- 😄. I'm mature enough to be an original Jim Croce fan. I loved so many of Jim's songs, and I'm ecstatic that Geoff decided to renew his legacy with such a compelling rendition of this one. Like you, Geoff introduces me to many songs that wouldn't ordinarily come my way. It's part of why I appreciate him and VoicePlay so much.

Jim Croce was talent lost way to soon. He wasn't overly showy or had anyunheard of voice, but was agreat story teller in a song. I suggest you definitely check a few out. It will not be a waste of time. He had some upbeat as this with Bad bad Leroy Brown, and deeply meaningful with "Time in a Bottle", "Operator" or "I had to Say I Love You in a Song"

I love this song. In my father's younger days, (Before I was born) everybody called him Slim. And he was a terror in a bar fight. I wouldn't know this if some of my father's friends didn't tell stories all the time. But this song will always remind me of my father. Because Slim beat the shit out of Jim. And he became the new boss of the street.
