Thanks so much for posting this mate. I'm in my nappies re permaculture (got the books), but everything I read or see helps. I bought a block of land (just over an acre) and planned to build a house. It was then that I discovered permaculture. Thankfully! I love planning, but once I got reading it influenced the house design and what the actual block layout would be. Without this new info, I may well have put a sun seeking house in the wrong position and stuffed it up royally! Thanks again, and I'm looking forward to travelling down to do the PDC in the new year.

Just build an add-on to your house and call the back the front.

Thanks for this. Only got around to seeing it now. I am super stuck in the system. Sure, we have our farm, and we basically live to be there. During the week, we are only there at night, leaving only weekends to work and live nature. It's not great, but better than when I lived in the city. You made me think Geoff... find some way to work towards an egress. Bored of being scared - truth. Soulkilling

Despite of how convinced we may be of how evil the system is and what the right thing to do is, the vast majority is (and keeps getting) convinced they can't live without it. What right do we have to charge at their system? We countereducate but the system does it more effectively, being in control of the media. It is not as much a matter of fear as it is a matter of respect for the difference in perception. Not a single doubt we are right, but still we remain the negligible minority of idealists. Permaculture provides the medium to "simply" explain what is wrong with the way of life as it has evolved and organized. We still have much work to do convincing others before we charge at anything. In principle I very much agree with all that you have said, but there is a social reality superimposed on the scientific reality and truth that we need to account for.

For me, the most efficient route is to make myself secure with permaculture. When the neighbours are curious about my abundance, they can ask me. When the trucks stop delivering produce, people will gain a new-found willingness to learn and embrace new ideas. If you can change minds - great! But if you can't, charge towards planting trees, towards prolific and efficient food-producing ecosystems. They'll come when they're ready. They will ask for advice when they are tired of industrial goods, being scared and silent and stuck fast to the teat of consumerism.

You Geoff got me by the balls brother. That is how I feel also. Robert David Steele is a fellow that you should get in contact with; because in his own way , he also is bored and scared of this world; but he has tremendous wisdom he can share with you; to take Permaculture to the next level...his website is phibetaiota.net He will blow your mind brother. Cheers mate, I hope you guys can become friends and thank me later.

I don't think that referring to yourself as "a businessman" Geoff sanctifies the money system that some 'businessmen' thrive on (usury) - ever heard of the Lawful Bank?

Don't we all wish we'd have been you Geoff, heart warming story, dare I say inspirational. But it rather depends on what size of Pandora's box you jump into and with what fears exactly. Rabbit holes are usually a warren that have you surfacing in places of corruption, pedophilia and mass murder and at the very least deception and lies. If you jump plan on returning the way you came...never knowing Pandora's full name.
