I remember a time when it wasn't my least used stop but my local stop. I was one of those daily users. I am guessing though with all changes in the area over the years the least used DLR station has reflected this. I remember a time when there was no Excel Centre, no Cyprus Campus of East London Uni, no Gallions Retail Park, the Fox@ Connaught was derelict and before the JLE opened! Nice to see some minor progress in further development opposite they were asking around planning permission over 10yrs ago.

I studied at the University of East London, right by Cyprus station, from 2006 until 2009. In our final year of an arts course, we had to try to find a client outside the college to work with, or at least see how a professional would work with them. I tried TfL, looking at how someone would design and install platform artworks (such as the mosaics at Tottenham Court Road) as I had the idea (C) J. Eiseman-Renyard 2009 of platform artworks at Cyprus and Beckton Park stations, so people could tell them apart more easily (many students and even teachers admitted they had accidentally got off a stop too soon at Beckton Park, having casually glanced out the window of the train). I never heard back from TfL, but my plans were for Beckton Park's artwork (in tiles) to show Beckton Park itself, including the sports pitch and the horse track with horses. I though Cyprus' tile artwork could show bits of stationary, pens, pencils, books, computers of various kinds, a scroll, etc. for the University.

I was born in Wealdstone in 1946 and lived in the Harrow area until 1963 when we moved to King's Lynn. From about 9 years old I used to travel over the London bus and tube network on a cheap all day rover ticket. There was no clean and modern DLR then but the old buses and trains were noisy, smelly and magic.

I remember thinking what anyone would get off at Beckton Park for. I used to study at UEL, by Cyprus, we got the uni bar there as well, right next to the station itself. I always thought Gallions Reach was odd too, it's just a tall station next to a roundabout, but I suppose it is closest to the UEL gym facilities and the newer student housing.

There is a rowing venue on the Royal Albert Dock. This was the original planned venue for sprint canoe and rowing for the London 2012 Olympics. Therefore it would have been ideal for spectators and volunteers to use if they needed to be halfway along the course. Remember that the games were awarded to London in 2007 so the timeliness may well fit.

Perhaps it’s already been mentioned but this is the site of the under-construction ‘Asian Finance hub’ led by ABP the Chinese Advanced Business Parks firm at the Royal Albert Dock adjacent to the station. Potentially the final stop of the modern Silk Road linking China to the West, I believe it’s the largest privately financed Chinese construction project being undertaken in the UK today. With that in mind I can’t see Beckton Park retaining the top spot of least used DLR station for long.
