Hi, everyone! I hope you like the new video! Note that there is a production mistake at 1:41. It says "2%" next to "Azeris" but that is a mistake. In my script it "Azeris 16% + 2% other Turkic". I hope that someday KZbin will allow us to upload updated video files so I can fix things like that in the video, but they don't let us. I'd have to delete this and upload it as an entirely new video., deleting all the comments, etc.

Please record the fact that turkic speaking people in iran like azaris do not speak their historical language. Their historic language was a dialect of persian. Language dies not indicate race..As they are native iranian people living in iran for thousands of years whose language shifted. Turks were not native..they go back to around 1000 years western asia..they weren't even native to central asia.historically Turkic people were very different people who lived in northern asia. They were mongoloid people with very different culture than of modern "turkics" speakers.Turkic people in central asia are also very mixed both in race and in culture.

@@sunny-td7qg Yeah yeah sure, they suddenly changed their language just for fun... I don't understand why Iranians reject Turkic part of their history. They portray their history as if they've never mixed with other ethnicities. Ethnic mixture happened. It is not only we got mixed with you. Persians also got mixed with Turkic people as much as Turkic people are mixed with Persians. Neither side can deny that. I personally admire Persian history and culture, Turkic people owe most of their historical achievements to Persians. However, denying Turkic minority in Iran by labeling them as Persians won't make you superior, but acknowledging the facts will.

Iran is my favorite country in the World. The history grabbed me first, then the architecture and art. I visited for seventeen days in 1999, and it is difficult to find words to describe how wonderful it was. I had my own guide and driver, both of whom were wonderful and brotherly to me. The people were kind and curious about me, the food was great, and there are thousands of sites of interest to me as a lover of history and art. I HIGHLY recommend going. If you are American as I am, you must go with a tour company approved by Iran.

As an Iranian, I'll share this video as an unbiased introduction to Iran to my non-Iranian friends. Excellent work! Perhaps, as a follow-up video, the contemporary sociocultural environment of Iran would be an interesting topic to explore. Iran has a very young population which is highly dynamic despite all the restrictions imposed on it internally and externally. Quite educated and progressive, given the circumstances.

Iran has historically and right up to the present day been totally misrepresented by others (such as Greeks in the ancient time which actually is the basis of west's misconception of the Persians and nowadays, America, Europe and Israel), because they feel threatened by its well established diverse, complete, and amazing cultures. Iran is one of the oldest countries if not the oldest in the world.

To answer your question as an Iranian who lives in Iran, the most common misconception about Iran is the way our own media portrays Iranians, I estimate that maybe only a third of our population is supportive of the current government, but our media shows otherwise, same as with religion. Iran is in this weird period of transition, when religion is becoming less popular rapidly and each generation cares less about religious values. The sad thing is, we can’t legally change our religion to Christianity or Judaism or even change it to agnosticism or atheism, so this creates a false image in the statistics and they can say that 90 percent of the population is legally Muslim. However, I am legally a Muslim, BUT I have never stepped foot in a mosque voluntarily, except for when I was a kid and I didn’t really understand, nor have I ever read Quran voluntarily, I was made to do so in school (and even in higher education), but ever since then, I haven’t read it and I don’t intend to. Of course I respect religions and religious people, that’s not my point here. but the truth about Iran is not what our government shows in our media. Keep up the good work, thank you for the video

Hello, I am an Iranian. A few tips about your video: 1. None of the Iranian people want separatism in Iran, and what you said is said by a group of Pan-Turkic and Pan-Kurdish people who live in Europe and the United States and receive money from Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United States and Britain. 2. The fact that there are different languages and dialects in Iran does not indicate whether they are Persian or not. We are all people who were under the Iranian Empire and we are Iranians and there is no ethnic or tribal issue in Iran. 3. We are kind to each other and to the people of the world, and there is no war in Iran. The fact that your media and the American government show a bad, violent and backward image of Iran in the media is because they do not currently have influence over the Iranian army and military power; They want to dominate us, divide our country and plunder our resources. But what we people see is security. The Zionist regime assassinates our scientists; The United States sanctions us (sanctions on oil, food, medicine, etc.); Britain, Saudi Arabia, the United States and the Zionist regime want the destruction of our country and our thousands of years of civilization, and outside Iran there are many anti-Iranian networks supporting demonstrations and street riots and lying to ruin the image of the revolution. (Iran International _ Voice of America _ Manoto _ BBC Persian and hundreds of other anti-Iranian and anti-religious television networks ...) 4. The IRGC is an army to protect Iranians from attacks by Iran's enemy governments. The US military has moved away from its borders and has military bases in our neighboring countries, and it is cultivating terrorist groups in our region in order to cause war and division among the people of the region, and it is boycotting us more and more from inside its country and for this reason Children with MS do not have the medicine they need; The United States may be a superpower for European countries, but we know it is a violator of international law and a criminal. thank you

Iran has always been Iran The case of Azerbaijan : Actually people of republic of Azerbaijan and Iranian Azerbaijan are not the same people, that's a political illusion by some that hold political aspirations most likely funded by western institutions to divide and conquer. These institutions have spent billions upon billions to divide and conquer Iran yet to no avail. Iran is actually the oldest nation state known to modern man. They have always been Iran, Persia is a name the Greeks called Iran because of Persepolis. Now Republic of Azerbaijan was founded 1918 and before Russia ceded Caucasia from Iran during the Turkmenchay treaty the region (republic of Azerbaijan in particular), used to be called Shirvan or Arran and it's people used to be called Caucasian Turks, although it is a fact that majority of people who live in The country called Azerbaijan are ethnically Iranic people not Turks. As for Iranian Azeris, they used to speak "Old Azeri" which was an Iranian language that became Turkified since the 12th century due to Oghuz Turkic invasion. Turkey (Ottoman) like Arab empires are known to annihilate the culture, language of the lands they conquered. Ex what Arabs did to ancient Egypt, what Turks tried to do to Armenians etc. Iran on the other hand is the only empire that respected other cultures and it’s people, only empire against slavery (Persepolis was built by paid labor), women were treated equally, religious freedom etc. (Of course everything changed for the worse after the Arab Muslim conquest of Iran).Yet because anglos saxons control History the glory and achievements of Iran has been hidden and concealed. But in Iran it has not, hence why the Iranians (this includes all the Iranic tribes: Azeri, Persians, Baluchs, Kurds, Arab Iranians, Turk Iranians etc.) are proud of their country and it is impossible to divide them. Actually in Iran everyone is Iranian all these ethnicities are western made, to further divide and conquer. But in Iran everyone is Iranian. Their ancestors created one of the greatest empires ever. Iran has always been Iran. Current regime: Iran was a democracy but after operation Ajax, the shah was put in power, he was a mere puppet of USA/UK, during his reign the communists worked hard to stage a revolution, and the shah was already acting independently, USA became afraid so they sent in the mullahs, yes the mullahs, the current Islamic regime were brought to power with western support, the Iran-contra affair is further proof of this.

@Xosro The exonym Persia was the official name of Iran in the Western world before March 1935, but the Iranian people inside their country since the time of Zoroaster (probably circa 1000 BC), or even before, have called their country Arya, Iran, Iranshahr, Iranzamin (Land of Iran), Aryānām (the equivalent of Iran in the proto-Iranian language) or its equivalents. The term Arya has been used by the Iranian people, as well as by the rulers and emperors of Iran, from the time of the Avesta. Evidently from the time of the Sassanids (226-651 CE) Iranians have called it Iran, meaning the "Land of the Aryans" and Iranshahr. In Middle Persian sources, the name Arya and Iran is used for the pre-Sassanid Iranian empires as well as the Sassanid empire. As an example, the use of the name "Iran" for Achaemenids in the Middle Persian book of Arda Viraf refers to the invasion of Iran by Alexander the Great in 330 BC.[18] The Proto-Iranian term for Iran is reconstructed as *Aryānām (the genitive plural of the word *Arya); the Avestan equivalent is Airyanem (as in Airyanem Vaejah).

as an Iranian, I can point to some misconceptions like our language: the official language is Farsi and not Arabic hijab: although there is a law for ladies to cover their hair and dress modestly, this law is not enforced strictly. so no worries for foreign ladies who are coming to Iran as tourists. Iran it's not at all like Saudi Arabia, the degree of tolerance and the variety of different people living together having different way of thinking will surprise the visitors. unlike what is advertised in media Iran is a safe country (as many western travelers are confirming this in their KZbin travel logs) ladies are not oppressed in Iran. some may argue the opposite but as evidence of the presence of ladies in all activities in the society (education, politics, business..) is obvious. as correctly pointed in this great video, Iran is not a desert 🏜️. most parts of Iran is four seasoned and all kind of climates can be experienced in Iran. Iranian currency is relatively weak comparing to dollar, so foreigners can easily enjoy best services such as transportation and hotels, food with very cheap cost.

When talking about Iran one has to note that Iran is not a country, its a culture, an empire that strechtes beyond its physical borders. Iran is the mother of civilizations in some sense. No matter what, you can never turn your back to your mother even if you are a delinquent teen. This is a fact and has been at the core of Irans survival mystery. Americans have chosen their enemy quite unwisely.

This was a really great video! I now consider it on my list of places I wish to visit, as I would like to learn more. Something I learned about was the meddling of imperialist foreign powers in Iranian politics. While I can't say I found it surprising, it is the sort of thing than engenders in me a much more positive view of a country (because now I want for them to succeed despite this!) I am American, though, so I hope it is not too unsafe for tourists in populous cities, like Tehran. I'm sure it's mostly fine, but I think I'll have to learn more before I'm disillusioned of any worries. Which, I'm excited to do!

it's a very safe country to visit even for Americans, just make sure you don't walk into areas that are designated military grounds. Some American tourists in the past as well as from other countries have gone into those areas and have been arrested. But the same would have happened if they walked into a US base, imagine if someone walked into Area 51. But do some research on KZbin into other people from the US who have visited US and see how they felt. If they felt safe or not or how other people treated them. I can tell you it's safe, but best if you see some videos on your own. The only thing is if you do want to visit Iran, if you visit it with a US passport you will need an escort. They require that because of how the US treats them and want to make sure you are not a spy or that you would do anything illegal.

Iran is definitely on my bucket list of places to visit, although I might have to wait until they put in place a less religiously conservative system. It has such a rich history and it's one of those places you certainly need to look into BEFORE going to visit lest you miss too many essential aspects. Persian is currently first in my languages-to-learn list. I don't see it happen soon - Japanese is a demanding master and Icelandic is tricky - but it will happen. I have been told that Iranian literature can stand its ground even against Greek, Latin and the most celebrated European literatures. I have also read that, although the language has changed and Iran has today a diglossia situation, reading ancient literature is not as forbidding as reading Chinese classics for those who only master modern Putonghua.

In all the world news, he says that Iran has the worst wars in the world, but I traveled to Iran. They were the kindest people I had ever seen. There is no war in that beautiful country. People are kind to each other for no reason and they love each other. They are happy with the smallest thing. That country is very powerful, but it does not hurt anyone. I was a stranger in that country and our country is bad with them, but they loved me.

Wow! Nice job as always, Paul! I wasn't aware of this other channel of yours! Now subscribed! Unlike what people are made to believe, Iran is actually a very safe destination to visit! If you are coming to Qatar for The World Cup, you can come visit Iran with a free visa for 20 days! A trip to Iran is highly recommended!🙂 And things won't cost you much here, cause the Iranian Rial is the cheapest currency in the world!😞

I'm Persian, and I can tell you many people these days are no longer bound to the religious beliefs; they don't have a hatred of the US or any other country's people, but as opposed to they are amiable and hospitable; you can't find out unless you visit the country. For tourists, it's safe, and there is no war inside. the economic downturn has frustrated most people to struggle with living expenses. You can see super-rich people to super poor people in different parts because of the wide gap between the rich and the poor.

So, similar to almost every other country including (especially) the USA. Always inequality…human nature unfortunately. I’m fascinated by ancient history and Persian languages, mythology, art, poetry, and military campaigns are some of my favorite things to study. One of my doctors is Persian and he is an expert on infectious diseases. Also, growing up I had a neighbor who was a very handsome, athletic guy who used to play soccer (football) for the Iranian National team! He was sooo amazing with a ball ⚽️. He moved to California because of the political situation after the Islamic Revolution, so I knew him in the 80s. One of the most humble, kind, and intelligent men I knew. He had just started a family and had a couple of young kids with his wife, and he had trained to become a civil engineer. I have always been fascinated by Persia and its people and culture. I’m not a religious person and I wish the “West” and the government of Iran would both stop acting like children. I would love to see Iran and to snow ski there especially! And of course, eat some of the amazing food and make some friends. I’m a bit older now, but maybe it will happen some day. خدانگهدار 😊

Tradiciones como los pañuelos que llevan las mujeres en las verbenas o el primer sabio llamado Al Mairity eran Chiitas. Kurdish is grouped as a north western Iranic language and is related to other Iranian languages (Persian, Balouchi, Lori, Gilaki, Mazandarani, Talish, ...). We all have close cultures and languages, But I think Kurds are the most Iranian (=Aryan) ethnicity because they kept our old religion alive

Your videos are amazing. Aout Persia, everything was perfect, except politic, but I uderstand you have to be careful. Another thing is about language. Persian and Parsi languages are the same. Farsi is wrong. Iranians or Persians who know their own country and it's histori, they know it's Parsi or Persian and not Farsi. Thanks for introducing Iran or Persia to the world..Best Wishes

Iran is the mother country of civilization of Western Asia. In the geography of the old world, IT IS the center. It has its own calendar system, language, holidays, unique pre and post Islamic religion, architecture. It has always stood against the West. From Greece, Rome, to Christian crusader Europe, to the new Roman empire (USA). Iran has always been, very proudly, the bad guy in the Western narrative.
