GeoFS 3.3 Beta | First Looks at Radio Navigation

GeoFS 3.3 Beta was recently released! This update introduced radio navigation, including VOR/DME, NDB, and ILS/LOC approaches. I'll take you through a brief summary and first look at these new features.

That is a very well made tutorial and a nice review, thank you so much! The Joystick issue is now fixed (override) as well as the reversed OBS on the HSI. ILS selection from the map has been improved too. Looking forward to more feedback so GeoFS can improve further.

the basic geofs aileron physics sucks. when you first turn its like moving the rudder and the alieron at the same time

@@voocheditz3739 rudder is coupled to ailerons by default. You can disable this in the controls settings. This is a discutable choice but it does not imply a physics issue.

VOR stands for Very high frequency Omnidirectional Range, and can be equipped with DME, standing for Distance Measuring Equipment. ILS stands for Instrument Landing System, and LOC is short for Localizer

I think the map is with true geographic north. It could explain the difference with vor indication in the plane. Declination at 5:18. Declination in las vegas îs +11.19° (11°11')

Is there a way of navigating to NDBs?

Yes, but you need to use an aircraft with capable (older) instruments, like the DC-3 or Cessna 172. You tune into them the same as a VOR, and the arrow on the ADF will point towards the NDB. Hope that helps

That would be HD scenery, which is a GeoFS subscription for satellite imagery. I've made a couple videos on it if you'd like to check them out

It seems a little finicky, but should still work if you use the radio interface on the right. Tune to the VOR you want then use the OBS knob to select the bearing you want to fly. You'll have to be using nav mode and it will only work for flying towards a VOR.

@@techcast2428 You'll have to estimate using the nav panel or chose a random one. It doesn't really matter because you can only fly towards it using the nav autopilot.

geofs interface is too simple its like for babies kills the joy too when you cant hotstart the plane. and i just like the tuning nav 1 system and set heading on xplane 11 as well set my own vnav or ils approach into the runway.At this point it will be not possible for geofs to compete to xplane 11 or even the unrealistic physics msfs.

Well sir, that's your opinion to what you think about this flight simulator. Yes, it is quite simple. You should understand that it's a browser flight simulator and it's different than X plane in general so if you think GeoFS is going to compete with X plane that where you are completely wrong.
