As an Indian, who has been to Bhutan quite often, I wanted to make some additional points. (i) The Indian currency Rupee is freely accepted in Bhutan (Currency: Ngultrum) where 1 Rupee = 1 Ngultrum (ii) The Indian language Hindi is quite well understood by majority of the nationals as most of the people do pursue their higher studies in India (iii) Correction: The Indian counterpart of the Phuntsholing entry point was pronounced as JALGAON (which means Water Village) but actually it is JAIGAON (which means victory village). The map showed correctly though :-) (iv) Geographically, Bhutan only has 2% arable land which is concentrated in the Terai plains region which borders India, where generally rice is cultivated Note: And yes , the queen might really be the most beautiful monarch in the world right now. Oh yeah , the food is very spicy and I am saying that as an Indian :-)

Honestly that tourism tariff is pretty brilliant. By integrating accommodations with passage into the country and charging them directly, cultivate a decently inviting destination for tourists without the problem of foreign-operated resorts sending the tourism money right back out of the country, as well as encouraging tourists to leave the hotel/resort area with the built in tour guides.
@luvsuneja8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it is brilliant. I am Indian so I didn't have to pay the tariff. But, I was impressed with quite a few things. Due to Bhutan engaging mostly high end tourists, stuff like Bhutanese handicrafts, cab fares and hotel fares are higher than neighbouring countries. Also, people seemed to have universal healthcare and education which is quite spectacular for South Asia. Overall, the people seemed quite chill and contented.

You should not have laws in a country dictating how to dress, or anything else to do with culture. people living in bhutan are under absolutely no obligation or responsibility to continue the culture of the country, and to exile people just bc some people don't want to live by these rules is sickening.

Russell culture is something that doesn't need to be protected. it is malleable and can change according to what individuals want to do. there is nothing wrong with this. every nation is special in their own way and has their own unique culture and every nation's culture has changed over time. now for a government to try to make laws dictating what people need to do, without taking into consideration what individuals want to do is wrong, and to make them leave bc of this is even worse.

The current Doklam Standoff is actually brought into limelight by the Indian media (propaganda). Bhutanese government never asked for Indias assistance on it. India acted independently which undermined our sovereignty. This chaos in the border would not happen if India never imposed economic sanctions and rig our elections whenever Bhutan tried creating diplomatic ties with China. Bhutan want diplomacy with China but India is jealous. That's all.

NurusTheSquid Well, Japan is very strict against immigration (which is contributing to our population decline.) and although there are many foreigners who stays in Japan, they can't get permanent residency and are not counted as part of the population. I could go on, but to put it shortly, no, there aren't many people like me, or at the very least not by Japanese standards. The only reason my parents were able to move to Japan was because of their job. It's sad really, our country needs to be more immigrant friendly, especially if we are to remain relevant as an economic world power.

I as an American have heard about Japan's population decline but I urge you, if you bring Americans to your country check them. A lot of them are probably Weeaboos, who are essentially Americans who are obsessed with anime and want to be Japanese. You can't have those creatures flood your country and then become involved in the gene pool.

Bhutan is majestic. The reason behind the endless happiness of the Bhutanese people is, they are not blindly copying the west and promoting heartless capitalism. They do not worship capital or economy. Instead, they respect Nature and Humanity. GDP is the worst criteria to measure how advance a civilization is. Bhutan has shown this to the entire world.
