Play around with the game and you’ll learn how it’s possible. People are really good at pattern recognition and it really is a game because it’s not just photos it’s google earth coverage so there’s a ton of little clues you can learn that make it look like magic

For those wondering, the primary way these talented dudes know the location is hours upon hours of memorizing things like the length of lines drawn on the road, the shape and color of bollards, what telephone poles look like and lots of other details, in addition to soil color, etc. Since many places only look a certain way due to all these details, they eventually can see just one important detail and know the road has to be in a specific country due to their road laws. "So in other words they're really good at geoguessr?" Yes.

Probably a red herring and not Sapporo (i keep getting this wrong). Snow arrows? Hokkaido instant lock (but this place is big so it's easy to fuck up) And these are just the basics of Australia and Japan which you can learn in an hour.

With 1000s of hours of play you get to know the regions of the world pretty well. These guys can see a round and can instantly pinpoint the country and region of where the round is. Its just about practice and experience. These guys are both extremely good tho and are top .1% of players. I’ve put my fair share of hours in on the game and only got 2 of those. Game is called geoguessr btw.

@@Og_Mandingo no, not at all, we don’t memorize images we just learn the landscapes of regions and a multitude of different things give it away sometimes such as poles, bollards, even the camera qualitiy, etc. it takes a lot of time and effort but to me it’s worth it to be able to know the road often and just a enjoyable experience
