I mean, it's hard to say they ever end. Solidifying can take decades to thousands of years. Milions perhaps if intrusion is large and deep seated. During 2018 Leilani Estate eruption one of the vents spew lava that was deposited decades before (and differed from fresh lava composition due to partial crystallization).

It did. This is a presumably new one but in the same system. Past rift zone events have involved as many as 13 intrusions, although the Afar region seems more susceptible to these types of events than central Ethiopia.

That's strange, I live in SF where a certain portion of DT is plagued with fentanyl and the similarity completely escaped me. Maybe because I've seen the eyes of dead OD victims and find nothing funny about it. Experience really does shape how we all individually see differences and similarities, well dressed, alone, cold to the touch, laid out on the sidewalk with open eyes that just 20 minutes prior could see. I wonder what his last thoughts were. Fentanyl is China's revenge over a 200 year old humiliation and it's state sponsored. But keep buying chinese made everything while they keep paying cartels to do their dirty work. Cartels that haven't forgotten how through un- instigated violence got to be the size it is today. The lack of proper monitoring near such an active and populated stratovolcano is deeply concerning and a clear blatant example of the inequity of the "Global" neocolonial imperial sociopolitical economic system. Every active stratovolcano which lies near a populated area needs to be monitored and imperial core countries which have plundered vast wealth of "colonized" countries and continue to entrench and amplify inequities, unequal exchange value between imperial core and the "global south i.e. colonized and exploited lands between 1990 and 2015 is estimated at around 242 trillion US dollars. Even a tiny amount of that uncompensated deficit could easily pay for any and all such monitoring programs across the world. But nope all that fortune just goes into the bottomless voids that are the investment portfolios of oligarchs who basically own more wealth than every national budget on Earth and the rest of humanity combined.

As an Earthwatcher it isn't difficult to understand the processes involved, that are causing the separation of Africa's Eastern flank. One has not drawn significant attention to the fissures in this area, that are recent and clearly demonstrates the forces at work. I've monitored earthquakes in Africa, there's now more than a trend, as is the case across Asia. Africa is to be split, and not in the time frames that Academia would joking suggest. I do not doubt for one minute that one is an accomplished individual within one's field of interest. Be open minded for much will happen soon.
