Professor nbc news is saying that the calendar we use in usa adjust for the sidreal year. I thought we use the tropical year for the calendar. By adding an extra day every four years, our calendar years stay adjusted to the sidereal year, but that’s not quite right either. That’s a quote from nbc.

Professor how would summer be in January if the Gregorian calander is following the tropical year. Do you mean that in 13k years the summer solstice would be in today’s December? In 13k years the sidereal year would start in todays vernal equinox on March 20 and stay in the same place for thousands of years.

WIthout adjusting the time and calendar, in 13000 years the summer solstice would occur in December. (in the Northern Hemisphere)

Professor so In 13k years the summer solstice will be at perihelion? How many years will it take for the summer solstice to occur in perihelion because the earth is also experiencing eccentricity.
