Great review of an interesting ship! And top to see you work out the trick of this ship, as seemed like others were treating it purely as an Elbing, but that 6km hydro with concealment is not to be ignored. Thank you again, Bou!

Thanks for the review. Seems a lot more balanced than most other German DDs. Lots of utility with the accurate guns, better torps, smoke and 6 km hydro.

@@MarcusKuann In no world is Ragnar considered to have bad dpm. It doesnt look outstanding either, but once again, this is all just on paper. Both Ragnar and Hoffmann have pinpoint accurate guns that basically land every shot if you can aim, and on top of that, both have high shell velocity guns which also makes their guns way more consistent (Hoffmanns shells actually have an even faster travel time than Ragnar's). Now Ragnar's dpm is for sure quite a bit higher than Hoffmanns, but the former is also a gunboat dd (which is totally busted on top of that and thus a bad comparison) while Hoffmann is actually a hybrid dd that works with both guns and torpedoes. The improved penetration of its HE shells is also something to note as it allows you (coupled with the accuracy) to target specific parts of enemy ships, something that most dds can't really do. The AP, while loosing its improved pen angles over Elbing, is still way more potent than on basically any other dd and thus boosting the ships gun performance. Now the base dpm is surely holding it back, but with all these other things going for it, its overall gun performance is still wayy better than it looks, surely on par with other hybrid dd's, like e.g. a Grozovoi. And for sure leagues above a Shimakaze's guns.

@arkagoswami2994 you know it's funny that my only issue with DDs are because they don't have a heal consumable. I always make that as a case. But Gunther capt can provide some healing tho. And yes, it's mind-boggling that Archerfish has a heal and Hoffman doesn't. 😂

ehhh not getting it as just used all my steel on z42. and 34k coal on hydro and smoke modules. might get hoffman one day when it's available again but considering how many german DDs i have likely not much point :)

Is the armor that thick? I saw in another video it deflected a destroyer's shell and took out the enemy without taking any damage

Yes, like you saw, but for HE only. For AP you would still need to angle.

It's 25mm side, that means to penetrate HE shells there you need to have either over 150mm guns, IFHE or some sort of built-in improved HE pen (german ships, japanese 100mm etc).

If this ship had a heal, this would probably be the most attractive for me out of the new ones, I have no idea why certain nations get heals on all of their DDs, then we have this boat, that would really need one, but no.

@@LunarKun If they don't like the germans, then what do they feel about the japanese? I think all of the newly added japanese ships are "below avreage", expect for the Sekiryuu, but that is a super CV. I still like to play with the Yodo etc, but I think we all know that nobody loves those ships for being competitive or powerful. At least there are some decent german ships at higher tiers.

@@Alex-hy9cw For the same "bias" british ships should also suck hard, but for some reason those (with some noteable expections) are usually really good in their tiers, and many lover tier soviet ships are just abbhorently bad. I know that they have bias towards themselfs. Despite that WW2 era german wargear is really popular in Russia, so who knows.

I think the only line that hasnt been at war with Russia is the South American line. Russians have a very long memory.
