Happy day-after birthday Telemann!

Abertura galant, segue com pompa e circunstância, desfilando belas entradas de oboés e trompas como a predominante dinâmica de terraços. Assim é Telemann, esse compositor cosmopolita e criativo.

This is actually a very late work by Telemann, dating from 1765 or 1767. It's interesting to hear that Telemann's creative powers were still intact, at the time when young W.A. Mozart was touring Europe as a 'Wunderkind' novelty.

Telemann's swansong, and maybe that of a whole musical era... This is a brilliant interpretation, probably the very best since Reinhard Goebel. Thank you! May I ask if a CD recording is available?
@Reciclassicat3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not. It's from an old recording released on 2001 for the 12º Festival Internacional de Música Colonial Brasileira e Música Antiga de Juiz de Fora.

I remember your channel. I used to discover a lot of Telemann pieces from you. La Lyra was one of my faborites.

Telemann is unjustifiably neglected. Here is a true event. 1722 Johann Kunau, a cantor, died at Thomasschule in Leipzig. In 1722, JSBah (Chaplain-master at the court in Keten) applied for the Qatari place in Leipzig and was not shortlisted by 6 candidates, with already proven musical sizes: Teleman, Fash (whose works JS Bah transcribed with his own hand), Graupner … In order to prevent the “setting up of competition”, two commissions were made by the selection committee: the commissioning officer and the commissioning officer. Only those musicians who were chaplains, cantors, or organists in one of the many cities in Germany could choose. Only when Teleman quit because the city government of Hanburg did not want to lose the music icon (so they increased his salary - and did not want to terminate his contract), and for similar reasons, they quit Fash (Chapel Makstor in Serbisht near Desau near Berlin) , Graupner ... the two commissions also took into consideration the JS organ Baha. In order not to fail (because new cantatas should be performed every week in 5 churches), the commissions agreed to receive this "mediocre musician", Johan Sebastian Bach. By the way everyone should listen: Johann Friedrich Fasch Passio Jesu Christi, FWV F:1

Telemann is one of the greatest of all Baroque composers, and no qualifiers need be added (such as "not named Bach").

I agree with the Fasch recommendation as well. Fasch, next to Telemann, is one of my favorites, but Telemann still remains #1 all these years.

@@sameash3153 It was a time of beautiful music by cosmopolitan artists, when music could "flow across borders", before the regression to nationalism brought about by romanticism. The universal concepts of the Enlightenment philosophy found their exemplification in the idea of creating a universal musical style, which was to be a synthesis of the best elements of contemporary national styles. It was also bred by Georg Philipp Telemann, and in his numerous chamber works we can find a remarkably successful combination of elements typical of Italian, French, German, Polish, Spanish...music of that time. People mostly only listen to his instrumental music; his vocal / instrumental (numerous) works are neglected .... He is divine.
