Soooo pumped for the lawyer George Barnaby... He's definitely accumulating stuff that's been discarded in his ship's bilge, being the literal basements beneath the floors of a ship. Love this characters theme so much, being a Viking and a lifetime lover of the seas and ships, most anything nautical. So much watery treats coming in this campaign seemingly.

Duke's current ruling on discord matches yours regarding Lab Assistant. Limit 5 refers to the cards beneath him, but his hand size can be increased past that. Although he said he reserves the right to change that if it breaks something lol.

I was thinking a scrapper or Digg Deep would be better than sparrow mask for at least scenario 1 - 2 due to potentially being relatively skill heavy and having 4 "Milans". Then also using Old Keyring instead of Mariner's compass.. but compas and Dark Horse are definitely more on theme.

@2:40, short supply doesn't work, because his ability from his hand. But at scenario setup he can choose to put cards beneath him.

Why wouldn't Short Supply work? It triggers after Mulligans, and after his additional setup, where he could stuff 0-5 cards drawn by the opening hand/s, underneath him in his boat's bilge. Then Short Supply triggers.

Upkeep phase 4.5 "Each investigator with more than 8 (handsize) cards in hand chooses and discards cards from his or her hand until he or she has 8 (handsize) cards remaining in hand." This doesn't use the words one at a time, still I wonder if starting from 5 cards hand, he puts 1 under him and draws 1, keeps 1 and discards 4. Or he discards 5, putting 1 of those under him, and draws 1 from his ability. Either way he discards 4, keeps 1 and puts 1 under him, but which one he keeps is different.

I think he looks cool. But when you start dreaming of drawing 2-3 times per turn with him, I think you run into the issue that it's tough to actually run enough skills to make all those discards "free." One of your decks ran double Cornered, double Xanatos but only had like 13 total skills in a 40 card deck. If you're drawing 3 times per turn then you expect to see 1 skill, so once you've discarded that skill to Cornered you're now having to feed events and assets to Xanatos.

I was excited for George, then I saw his deckbuilding in that he can’t have higher level off-class cards, but he’s my kind of weird so he’ll get a pass. His support in TDC will probably help the entire Survivor pool greatly.

These decks look fun and all, but no forced learning? It guaranteed triggers his ability in the upkeep phase, so that is draw 3, put 1 of these under him and only after look for handsize limit. They even already gave him the +5 decksize versatile would have added and you get a free extra 9 lvl 0 seeker/rogue cards to choose from.

@@rupert7565 This assumes that you aren't able to frequently overdraw during the upkeep phase without Forced Learning. I don't really think that's the case. I'll need to see him played to be sure either way, but my gut tells me I'm going to be discarding almost every upkeep without Forced Learning.

@@RatherIncoherentIt's going to be really hard to say without seeing him in action and without the upcoming cards, but let's do some analysis. Possible upkeep situations 1) no cards in hand and no cards under him 2) 5+ cards in hand before upkeep, 5 cards under him 3) fewer than 5 cards in hand, 5 under him 4) 5+ cards in hand before upkeep, fewer than 5 cards under him 5) fewer than 5 cards in hand, but even fewer under him 6) equal number cards in hand and under him, with that number being 1-4 cards 7) forced learning 1) is a bad situation to be in, but results in 1/1 2) niche situation, but you probably are in a good spot. however you do not trigger his ability in this case. 3) regular draw 1, you do not trigger the ability, nor loose cards 4) at least 1 card goes to the discard, 1 card goes under him. But you probably did something wrong during the investigator phase. 5) 1 card goes under him, +1 to hand, 1+ cards go to the discard pile 6) ideal situation. you trigger the ability for 1 card under him and 1 in hand 7) see above, but 1 extra card drawn I actually think he can't really commit more than 1 card under him per phase outside of emergency situation, or live with a very small handsize. The limit once per phase makes it difficult to get more under him. a) The mythos phase only offers opportunities with a test, testless damage or a test of will. b) The investigation phase should be easy somehow c) the upkeep is conditional d) the enemy phase is highly conditional, except for taking damage We might get a multiple times per turn any lightning bolt window discard for effect asset, but otherwise you'll mostly using cards in hand, not under george i think. Currently though I think situation 6 will not happen often unless you're willing to let value constrain card use. Forced learning fees up more use of cards in hand. Then again it might do the opposite, constraining card use of card below him more. But I'm very curious how things will turn out and it will depend a lot on the new cards I think.

@rupert7565 @rupert7565 I'm not sure if I'm oversimplifying or if you're overcomplicating, but either way we're agreed that we just need to play the guy. I'm looking at it as "I start off discarding a card" from the mulligan, and to maintain that I only need to play a draw card or reduce the # of cards under me each turn. I'll probably miss some upkeeps since there'll be recharge turns. I can't burn down forever. But I think that's going to be worth having a 15 smaller deck. I'm also biased hard towards consistency, especially with cards as core as Cornered looks to be. If his support ends up including several equivalent discard assets, then I'll start being a lot more favorably inclined towards Forced Learning.

@@RatherIncoherent Me overcomplicating things? well i never! ;) I forgot that you don't start of with 5 under him, so that changes everything. Still very surprised you don't start with 8-10 and put up to 5 of those under him. What seems likely? put ~2 under him, play ~2 cards turn 1?

@@rupert7565 I've only just realized that I'm not accounting for his bonus draws off discards when I think about his opening hands. Any discard (that triggers his ability) is effectively doing nothing to change overdraw since it also draws you a card. You'd need to use 4 cards in your first turn. That's very nearly impossible. Overdrawing and actually discarding improvised cards can help. It looks very likely to me that most opening hands probably put at least 1 card in the boat.
